    The guy who taught my static line FJC in 1995 did his own first jump in 1962. If I remember correctly, Lew Sanborn started in the early to mid 50's, and I can't imagine there are many living who started earlier (though for some reason I'm thinking some French guy has him beat).     For Seattle to win, the Bears will have to be overconfident, and the Seahawks will have to play up to their potential rather than merely at the level of their competition like they've been doing all year (except for the prior Bears game).     SEC is 4-3 in bowl games, Big Ten 2-4. However Big Ten is 2-0 vs. SEC. I think it's gonna be a better game than many people, and while Ohio St probably pulls it out, I gotta root for the Gators.     I had that backwards. A Giant win would have sent the Seahawks to New Orleans, and subsequent wins by Seattle and the Giants would have gotten Seattle another home game. Now there's no chance of another game in Seattle, but we do have a better chance of moving on to the NFC championship game by beating Chicago. Of course a win will require fewer dropped passes and missed tackles, and at least a little bit of run defense, but it's still within the realm of possibility (albeit remotely).     Hopefully Tom's family will take comfort in the fact that those here who actually knew Tom respected him and knew him to be a humble, fun-loving, kind man in addition to being a very competent skydiver. I didn't get to hang out with him a fraction of the time you and the rest of the the Byron crew did, and all that was still quite obvious to me. It's been nice for me to read here that everyone else who got to spend a lot more time with him knew him as the same guy I did.
