She's a really good family friend. And first thing she did was give me her credit card info and said 'go buy a stove'. After I priced it out, it turned out to be quite expensive. And considering how little she charges me for rent (I'm paying about a 1/3 of what i'd pay for a similar apartment if I was in an official lease agreement) I want to talk to her first and see if she's ok spending almost $800 on something that will potentially be disposed off 6 months later. It sounds like you might be "assuming" that she would get rid of it prior to the sale. Best to talk with her and see if she wants a short-term cheapo or something that can help with the transition and remain with the apartment. If cheapo... I checked your local craigslist. Lotsa 200-3000 stoves for sale. Guess I wasn't clear. ;) I meant that the future buyers would most likely get rid of it. Her real estate agent thought so too. Before I moved in, she had the apartment for almost 25 year, and in that time there have been no renovations of any kind done. The kitchen looks like it was built back in the 80s...because..well..it was. Actually, someone just moved into an apartment four doors down...and they tore out the interior completely and rebuilt it before they did. So...ya...

*everyone turns around* WHAT??? you know, thats the easiest way to find me. I'll be the only one that doesn't. A few years ago, I was in a bookstore reading a book (duh), and all of a sudden I heard a semi-loud 'Hey asshole!'. Of course, like an idiot, I turned around...and there was my tennis coach, laughing at me. I started laughing because a. I couldn't believe I turned around b. it was her, and c. well..just because it was funny.

So..currently I am renting an apartment from a family friend. Very old appliances, fridge has been replaces already...and on the day that there was the gas leak/explosion in the Bronx about 100 streets away from me, the super called and said he had to go in my apartment and shut off (and disconnect) my stove because it was leaking gas! My dilemma: the landlord decided to sell the apartment this year, and I'm looking to buy a place in Brooklyn. But since that won't happen for at least 4-5 months, I need to figure out a way to cook my food. The problem is that the kitchen is so old it's a virtual guarantee the new owner will want to replace all of the appliances, cabinets, etc...basically do an overhaul. Even though the landlord said she wants to pay for a stove, the cheapest basic stove I found was around 650-750 (that's including delivery, installation and getting rid of the old one.) So, what are my options if I don't get a stove? Any suggestions?

You're working on a major project for a customer that is preventing you from achieving his goals. How'd I do?

(Last night) I am sitting on the steps of a brownstone in NYC..a nice summer day. I see a guy and gal doing a street workout. Pull ups on lamp posts, pushups on the steps, running up and down steps, etc. They also have a pit bull with them, and they involve him in the workouts as well. First they play tug o' war with him, then they do lifts with an old tire while the pit bull grabs on and hangs off the tire. Then the guy get out a skateboard, ties a long rope to the collar of the pit bull, and lets the pit bull run around on the street dragging him around. The pit bull keeps running into cars on the street head first, effectively looking like a pinball on a narrow street...but his owner just hangs on! I start laughing hysterically, at which point I wake up. Seriously...what the fuck? Share your WTF dreams, if you remember them!

The title should be "Duck I'm Frunk"

We're talking about tributes, throwbacks to original movies, etc. My worst pick: the 'she'll be back line' in Terminator 3. At the end of this trailer https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WeC-lGnajT0 Best pick (from a recent-ish movie): https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=oC-hnllKGFs#t=148 Actually, there's quite a few nice throwbacks to the old 007 movies and gadgets throughout this whole movie. Bonus: worst fight scene EVER, with some great puns at the end! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uxkr4wS7XqY

Red Dawn. No way a bunch of Russians got their ass handed to them by a bunch of Americans, even ones led by Patrick Swayze! -
What are some everyday objects you can't live without?
npgraphicdesign replied to npgraphicdesign's topic in The Bonfire
If you're going to go all literal... Food is over rated. The average person under average conditions could probably live 30 or so days without any at all. Care to...test that theory? -
What is an everyday object that you don't own/use?

Blow up doll. oh wait...that's NOT an everyday object? -

Are there any objects that you simply can't live without and need on a daily basis? As sad as it is, I can't live without my iPhone. Not just for the sake of the internet, but for work, keeping in touch with family/friends (no landline in the apartment), etc. I'd love to disconnect for a few weeks, even for a few days...but that's seemingly impossible! -
Trolling? Not sure if this is trolling or not.

The first: I never heard of it until this thread. The second: Nope, still not convinced. I'm sure I could convince you...on both counts. -
