Got the DVD's for Christmas. Very moving, intense series. Really allowed you to get to know the characters and see them change ...some for the better and some for the worse! The people that I have felt closest to outside my family are the guys I served with and the people I now jump with. I've always thought it strange that there is such a strong bond between jumpers because I always felt my bond to veterans was because of our shared experiences during Vietnam. Blue skies, Jim

It's a 10 or 11 day party for sure! Tammi & Scotty have given a tentative "yes" to hosting a dz.com party with beer and a meal. Any cost would go to them for getting all the stuff and preparing it for us. Of course they wouldn't turn away walk ins to the party, but they would pay too. $$$ are for beer and food only. On the WFFC BB the question was asked if the city had signed the contract yet. There was no definitive answer except for hoping the convention did not move to Arkansas. Just thought of something. Will the Arkansas police be as great as those in Rantoul? Blue skies, Jim

Ummhh...let's see. Does the nation that has one have the reputation of being aggressive and attacking it's neighbors? Does the nation who uses them, use them in every military incident; use them without warning; use them in retaliation for chemical or biological attacks? It's not a black or white issue. The US used nukes twice. To end the war with Japan and save the lives of untold millions of American servicemen and Japanese servicemen and civilians. Hundreds of thousands were killed by the bombs. War is a dirty business and should not be entered into lightly. People will die and some of them will be innocents. So if there is a war, get in, bring as much force as is necessary to defeat the opposition, and get out. Had we not wimped out in 91 we might not be where we are today. Blue skies, Jim

It's not to early to start planning for WFFC. There is a chuch convention in town at the same time as the WFFC and some of the motels are already full. Also check the RW attachment from last year. Can anyone identify the flyers? I know I was docked (red), Flash was in, Lisa was in, Dennis was in, but who are the rest? Blue skies, Jim

So what else is new? In war games in 1970, one of my jobs was to plot the fallout pattern when nukes were used against an armored division. The US has always been ready to use them if necessary to counter an overwhelming attack, or a chemical or biological attck. The only thing new here is that they would be used as bunker busters. If it was reported on the 1099, you have to report it on your return or the IRS will send you a bill for the tax on the amount. If the 1099-MISC was used and the amount was reported as non-employee compensation, it is subject to employment taxes as well. As PDS mentioned however, why not become a professional skydiver? This would allow you to deduct your skydiving expenses. It would help if you are on a team, or an instructor. If you were a manifest, loading, or packer contractor it will be a little more difficult to support, but it can be done. Just remember to show a profit every 2 out of 5 years and your should be home free. Blue skies, Jim

I don't think you have a legitimate beef, if you agreed to the picture at the time. You have to assume that all pictures will be out there for everyone to see especially these days! Promises that if would not be published under a haze of alcohol, sex or other nig noggery are just about worthless. However if it was taken without your knowledge, you've a right to be pissed. I use Intuit's tax professional. It's free if you pay by the return. I download it from the Intuit web site and file all the dz guys returns in all the states where they reside. Very easy, but I've been using it since 1986 when it was Best Programs. Blue skies, Jim
