  1. The one between the ticket tent and the trailers? Put that damn thing in the middle of the party! Never saw it used for entertainment because Steve wouldn't let me hang around in the evening! Honestly never saw them. Must've been all the big way jumping! Blue skies, Jim
  2. If you have log books signed by your instructors you may have to repeat the last jump, but will not be required to start over. Tell the new dz why you left your old dz. They will understand! If you paid for your whole AFF program in advance, you are out the money and will have to pay again. If you only paid for the jumps you made, no big deal here. Blue skies, Jim
  3. 1. Entertaiment tent that could be used for packing during the day. 2. Smokeless fires 3. Balloon jumps. 4. Couches for the old folks! Blue skies, Jim

  6. Bill, exactly why I went from a red suit to dark blue last year. Now if I could just lose the red Z1.... Blue skies, Jim
  7. Be very careful if the plan is to dock on your wife. Is she calm in the air? Or will she grab your arm and pull you to her? This could cause you to become unstable next to and below the tandem pair which is not a place you want to be. Talk with both your wife and the tandem master at the same time to make sure everyone is on the same plan. The tandem master may want you to wait until he finishes his turns or until the cameraman finishes a 360 around the pair. Blue skies, Jim
  8. Very true John. ...and out of the vid too! I've gone to several debriefs dreading the scolding or cut I was gona' take only to find I am never in the vid and never get mentioned! Of course it helps to have a few others out at the same time. Blue skies, Jim

  12. Let's all cut to the chase. I am on the side of the road with someone I love bleeding and in severe pain and going into shock. I will probably accept help from the first SOB who drops to his or her knees next to me! Doesn't matter who they are or what they know at that moment. I have been in many, many situations where I would have given anything for the extra hand, pair of eyes , or brain; a few bandages or a shoulder to subsequently cry on! We all would like the best medical care possible, but when the shit hits the fan you make do with what you have. Some medical personnel rise to the challenges and some fall by the wayside. There are good MDs in every country and there are bad MDs in every country. The real difference is their access to medical equipment and supplies, trained nurses, and dedicated rapid response teams. 13. She's been in the mug shots almost since dz.com day 1, she was looking good, she knew a lot of people. To bad she and Mikey don't jump anymore! Blue skies, Jim
  14. One of the gotta get the last word enders Bill. Watch this ... Blue skies, Jim
  15. [sobbing] I'm sorry Wendy! I forgot...[/sobbing] Blue skies, Jim
  16. My wife trains doctors all over the world in emergency medicine. She actually goes to Cuba twice a year with US permission. It is usually not the quality of the physicans care that is the problem; it is the old, unreliable, or outdated equipment that is not up to current medical standards that is the problem. Blue skies, Jim
  17. Oh, I didn't know you knew Trent so well! Blue skies, Jim
  18. HOA should have filed for bankruptcy too! That way the attorneys would have had to eat their bill. Residents could have created a new HOA if they wanted to. Of course the old HOA board would have fought this since they would probably not be on the new board, thus losing all their "power" to make life miserable for the other residents. I too have had to fight with an owner over a yippy, yappy so I understand where you are coming from. I just think it is wrong for someone to lose their house over a few dollars especially when they are elderly and sick. Blue skies, Jim
  19. Not quite the same, but at home I often get up to do something walk into another room, stand there blank as a cedar post, then go back into the original room and sit down. 9 times out of 10 I remember what I was going to do as soon as my ass hits the couch. Trent tells me the first time I do it at the dz my jumping days are over!!! Blue skies, Jim
  20. Thanks John. A bunch of us were talking about the award last night. I knew about it, but didn't know the history. Tom Jenkins knew a lot of it and filled us in. Your site brought it home. Blue skies, Jim
  21. Ok just to make sure I am clear about this: 4 compaints x $30 = $120. HOA files liens and waits the 180 days and then starts foreclosure. That means an attorney is involved so I am sure they have "fees". At the foreclosure I go to the auction and buy the house for $120 and "fees" let's say are $5,000. Homowner gets nothing since all sales proceeds are applied to costs. I get the home for $5,120 plus court costs and it is valued at what? $125,000? $250,000? Homeowner is on the street with yappy, yippy Hercules, you're happy becasue yappy, yippy is gone, I have a cheap house, lawyers are happy. In Houston, the homeowner was a woman in her 80's who didn't pay her annual HOA dues of $30. When she lost her house the lawyers "fees" were around $4,000 to send out a few letters to her. No one from the HOA ever spoke to her about the late dues. A guy here in town bought the home for $5,000. He was a friend of the HOA board. It was the woman's only asset. HOA's tend to be run by over zealous nuts with nothing better to do than compare your house color with the approved paint samples. Their power comes from the lawyer's that feed off those who tend to be elderly and on marginal incomes. Blue skies, Jim
  22. ummhhh....a polite one is "wind sock dummies". Blue skies, Jim
  23. Wind Drift Indicators usually made of cloth or paper that are thrown from the plane over the dz. The plane circles and (old days) the jumpmaster would watch the streamer so he could set the jump run. Today we just let the first load jump out over the dz and watch where they land before we adjust the spot for the 2nd load. There are some colorful names for the guys on the 1st load. Blue skies, Jim
  24. Congrats to Deguello! Makes all that creeper time worthwhile!!! Blue skies, Jim
  25. I don't see any direct flights. Looks like you have to go through DFW (Dallas/Ft Worth) or IAH (Houston) to get to San Antonio. Blue skies, Jim
