Ya'll? You say that like it's a foreign concept to you. I think for a lot of men it doesn't come as naturally sadly, and I think it takes having a child to bring out the kind of love you're musing about. Especially a daughter who is tiny and delicate and needs your protection and looks up to you like you're her champion/hero, at least in the beginning. Then you understand without there needing to be a reason. That and maybe you have it towards your parents and a dog? But with genes put aside the love you're shown is the love you can more easily give. With that said, not everyone deserves your love, so it's not something to be stupid about either. But if you have it from and towards special people in your life you're blessed.

Teachers drop the Holocaust to avoid offending Muslims
77r replied to JohnRich's topic in Speakers Corner
If it is an issue and if local mosques want to keep their kids ignorant (if that's really what's happening) let them do it on thier own. History is History and the other non muslim kids are missing out on the full story too if it's not taught in school. What's to defend? "A long time ago there was a lot of violence on both sides, and a lot of people died. Which is what happens when you wage war so let's not do it again" is all they have to say after they TEACH history the way it happened. end of story. If they aren't being taught the truth in the Mosque, even more reason to teach them in school. If a kid stands up and says "Well my teacher told me there was never a holocaust" All the teacher has to say is " go do some research!" When they do some research and find out they've been lied to, they might start wondering what else the Madrassas have been wrong about. And when/if some knucklehead approaches them to do a suicide bombing they will think twice before believing the 72 virgin load of c&@#. I think the teachers are just lazy and coming up with excuses to not cover as much material -
Love is caring about someone more than yourself or your wants. It makes you happy when they're happy and it makes you sad and angry when they are hurt or abused. Love is wanting to give more than you want to take, and it includes and results in respect, compassion, loyalty and selflessness. It makes us happy and better people who want to share that happiness. It's inexhaustable and unselfish.

Did God put dinosaur fossils on Earth to confuse scientists?
77r replied to unformed's topic in Speakers Corner
I wasn't using a translation or a "Version," but the original thing. I would say the Hebrew Bible is the most authoritative, and considering I speak, read and write Hebrew, I can read it for what it actually says. For anyone not reading Hebrew the most authoritative translation is the English translation directly from Hebrew translated by Jewish scholars who understand the context and grammar of their native tongue without having to translate through a second or third translation (older versions of the bible or via Greek or Aramaic) and without guessing which might be the right word and which slant of translation might please the Bishop. The bible or more accurately “Torah” has been duplicated exactly the same way from the time it was written without “updates” and “versions” which is why no one Hebrew bible is different from the other no matter where in the world it was produced. Would you argue with the English version of the Mikado (Japanese Opera) compared to what the actual thing says in Japanese? How then can you do the same with the bible? What the original Bible says cannot be changed, and “NEW” versions are only getting farther away from what was actually said and by nature are subjective and flawed and cannot be relied upon to be accurate when you are reading regurgitated theological assumptions and biases that include blatantly substituting words and shortening entire verses which is what you will find in this so called “generally considered to be authoritative” NKJV. The NKJV is a badly corrupted version of the bible and is rife with mistranslations, and in which complete verses are cut in half and omitted, but you wouldn’t know to read the original to compare it to. It is not btw considered to be the most authoritative version of the bible except by enough people who think their “considering it to be anything” makes it validated by a few people who run with what they read in some Digest or off of some book review, and wind up being embarrassed when they try to quote the simplest of facts from it. The new version you are referring to is simply made to be understood in the “common man’s” tongue which further changes it’s original meaning and context especially when the authors try to “simplify” the grammar. -

Quote>The animals were made first. Actually, Genesis 2 says quite clearly that man came first. Are you arguing with - GOD?? I know someone else who argues with God - SATAN! Quote I'm not arguing with God, only your misunderstanding of what is really written. What genesis 2 states is that God brought the animals(which had already been created on the 5th and 6th day-see [1:20 to 1:28]) before Adam(who was made after the 7th day[2:1 to 2:6]) to name. What you are confused about is when it says in (2:19) "Now, God HAD FORMED out of the ground every beast of the field and every bird of the sky, and brought them to the man to see what he would call each one" Pay attention to the "HAD FORMED" not "formed" which is stating a past tense. They were already made, and now they were being gathered up to be categorized/named. Even in English the translation is clear, but you need to pay attention to the grammar. -
A bargain dosn't mean you are risking your life. It just means you're being trained by people who are giving you a chance to break into the skydiving world without robbing you blind. Just because someone is sucking you dry for money dosn't mean their program is better than anyone else's. It might be a good program granted, but 3 grand to learn to skydive is outrageos.

So long as I'm allowed to ask experienced skydivers their opinion about whether or not I'm getting screwed on a deal, the answer is a definate-----YES. Why not? -

It's "reminding" you that God had created the animals, and later gave Adam the opportunity to name them. The animals were made first. Just remember that the bible you're reading is in English. Before it got to that point it was in Greek or Latin (I forget) and before that parts of it were in Aramaic, and before that in Hebrew. So if something doesn't make sense you have the myriad misinterpretations and literary licence taken of each translator to thank. And just because something is translated dosn't mean the context of the original language is preserved which can get tricky when you are reading biblical Hebrew where even the shape of, or an additional sqibble added to the letter used gives it meaning that you would have to be a scholar to recognize. -
There used to be talk of a beeper like device that you could point in someone's direction if you liked them which would alert their device if they carried one and if there was a mutual attraction, both devices would start to beep. That would solve a lot of problems.

Did God put dinosaur fossils on Earth to confuse scientists?
77r replied to unformed's topic in Speakers Corner
I get that, but I'd still like to know how someone thinks Geology supports their belief that "A flood"/"The flood" never happened, since I've never heard of "Geology" disproving it. -
Great answers/explanations... Thank you

Why yes, actually, I do. It's called geology Do explain and I don't want a definition of "Geology". How does it prove there was no flood? and not to rag on the bible either, but assuming there was a flood (or a series of floods for whatever reason) that covered a large portion of land without covering the entire planet, which could have been given credit for being "The Flood" how could Geology know which one to exclude as not having taken place when floods have been known to happen quite frequently in certain parts of the world? (Atlantis?) (honestly interested) -
Has anyone seen it, and if so how is it? Any spoilers? Trailer looks amazing.

HELP need to save money! for a rig, any ideas?

Start selling junk you don't need on eBay. -
No one is questioning if you know how to pack your own gear. That wasn't even mentioned. You simply said the question "couldn't be answered" and "OBVIOUSLY you're not packing your own gear!," which dosn't answer the question. I was saying that someone with more than 28 fun jumps would probably have a better answer than that. So far I've had some great answers. Thx everyone

Hi Lee. The best place to go for skydiving if you're a beginner and on a budget would be the Parachute Center in Lodi, Ca up near Sacramento. The tandems there are only $100, and the training will cost you $500 for 10 static line jumps(but no freefall time) or $1000 for the 7 level AFF program. Then it's $35 a jump after that which includes the cost of the rented gear. $35 more on top of that if you want it to be a coach jump. And all of the first 7 AFF jumps are recorded on tape free of charge. It's a great deal and as far as I know (with the exception of Wissota up in Wisconsin) the least expensive in the country.

Same difference. I just want to know why either way.

Why do some cypress have 1 pin and some have 2? What are the disadvantages or advantage of either one aside from price?
-
Maybe it can't be answered by you. With 28 jumps I don't imagine you're any more canopy savvy than I am. I actually do pack my own canopy just fine. I'm looking to buy a sabre main and when I looked to see what people were saying about it some people said it takes a while to open, which got me wondering about canopies in general and if it's something to be concearned about. Simply a consumer trying to educate herself.
-
Does anyone know which canopies take the longest to open and which ones open in a shorter amount of distance/ft? Not talking sequential opening based on how you pack it, which I'm sure plays a part, but overall. I've heard of sabres for example taking 1000ft to open, which seems like a long time....

Hi everyone. I'm new to skydiving and wondering what are the most important maneuvers for a skydiver to know. * I know the 360 turns * along with the barrel rolls * front and back loops * tracking * moving forward and backwards ...and the latest thing I was practicing was staying level with someone heavier/bigger than me who fell faster. I know there's sitflying, but aside from all of that what have you found that makes skydiving fun maneuver wise. Thanks a lot
