Where to get various colored collapsible PC's?
dfairleigh11 replied to dfairleigh11's topic in Gear and Rigging
Nice alti! Hell, I already spent $ to get smiley and frowny faces digitized for my cutaway and reserve handles (NTM the $6k for the rest of the rig)... ...what's another $80? What's the best way to get in touch with Jim? "We'll start the ass kissing with you" -

In the air, I suppose that's true - but on the ground, etc? Not being argumentative, just trying to figure out if getting a custom PC done would be worth it. "We'll start the ass kissing with you" -

I'm also trying to figure if it'd be a good idea to have the smiley printed (silk screened, I guess?) on the PC, or if it could be embroidered - would that affect the PC's volume or fabric integrity? I suppose I should have asked this in the initial post... ...oh well. "We'll start the ass kissing with you" -

Right now I've got an order in for a Mirage G4 and I tried to order it with a yellow pilot chute, but apparently Mirage only has black or white - I got black, and for now I'm cool with that, I'm just stoked I'm gonna have my own rig. But... ... I've got this smiley face theme going on with my rig, and eventually I'd like to get a yellow PC so I can put a smiley on it too -
How long is the wait for a USPA license?
dfairleigh11 replied to AnKaLi's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Mine took about 6 weeks, got my license in the beginning of September and got the card about mid-October. Patience! -
Reading all this really makes me want to jump a Porter

I'm sure to echo much of this thread, I think everyone who has ever jumped has felt the initial fear of being in the door - even my mom hated going out the door on her only tandem, and she LOVED the rest of the jump (Personally I LOVE exits-they ROCK!). To this point I've dealt with any fear or uncertainty by thinking about the feelings and sights during freefall, or how awesome it feels to get on the ground after a successful RW jump, or how quiet and stunningly beautiful it is under canopy with the sun setting to the west and the moon rising to the east and Mt. Rainier to the south and Mt. Baker to the north... ...I don't think there is any amount of fear or uncertainty that would overwhelm my desire to be in that place. Blue skies, keep jumping. I did the vast majority of my progression with red antiglare coated lenses for my WileyX SG-1's - several times my instructor noted that he couldn't see my eyes, but it never created problems. They do look sweet

Music - what reminds you of jumping?
dfairleigh11 replied to veri's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Every drive to the DZ (at least when I'm going up to jump), I listen to Rammstein's Feuer Frei and Ich Will - I hear Feuer Frei in lots of videos (since it was popular from xXx), but not Ich Will. The power industrial metal just gets me goin. But anything with a good break in it (i.e.Linkin Park - What I've Done) makes me think of the quiet ride to alt., then the beautiful insanity of the exit... ...but then again, who am I kidding? EVERY song makes me think of skydiving... ...what else is there to think about?? "We'll start the ass kissing with you" -
How many jumps did you get in this weekend?
dfairleigh11 replied to andm31's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Just one. First one back after the 208B crash... ...was a sad/somber jump, but man it was great to be back in the air, even if I did get ice on my goggles from only 5k -
Mine's a screenshot from the flash video "The many uses of the F word" http://www.killsometime.com/animations/animation.asp?ID=47 I guess it doesn't say too much about me, but no matter how many times I watch it I laugh my ass off. NTM I end up saying many of those phrases at the DZ "Who the fu$k was that??" "We'll start the ass kissing with you"

Cessna Caravan crashed in the Cascades-Skydivers on board
dfairleigh11 replied to Amazon's topic in The Bonfire
The Seattle Times has an okay writeup on everybody on board: http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/localnews/2003938203_planevictims10m.html I know it's not comprehensive, but I wish the media would pick up on this more. People deserve to know about them, even if it's not exactly how we remember them. Personally I choose to remember them in the best light possible, smiles on their faces, laughing at each other after an "unsuccessful" 2-way, running to the plane barefoot because they didn't want to miss the load and couldn't find their shoes, joking with each other when barbecuing after the last load came down. My only regret will be that I didn't get to jump more times with them than I did, but they will jump with me every time I go from now on. Blue skies, everybody. Still can't believe this is really happening... ...I grieve SO much for everyone's family and friends. I'm going up to the DZ later today, cuz I just need to be there - I've only been doing this for 6 months and I already feel like everybody is family... ...God grant them all peace.
