A nice friendly DZ with everything you need to have a great day skydiving. Pricing is more expensive than Lodi (parachute center) but only because it is regulated by the USPA in my opinion(I like Lodi as well but feel a tad safer out at Skydance however my instructor at Lodi was Excellent!) . Tandems seem a little pricey but Skydance has great tandem equipment (Sigma). As Rickgarner2000 had implied, I have not experienced any arrogance or bad vibes at this DZ, everyone I have met has been friendly and helpful. The guy below is asserting that Skydance is a bad DZ but who is this guy anyway. He has only posted this review and is clearly not in the skydiving community (online anyway). Read the other reviews on the DZ before you take Rickgarner2000's review seriously.

60 miles our about 1 hour ten minutes to davis. About 2 hours ten minutes to Lodi. I stay in Davis. Driving sucks and cheap lift tickets at lodi dont mean as much when gas is nearly four dollars for premium.

Can I convince you to come out then? AHHH i would love to stay for the BBQ but i got way too much homework to stay out past mid/early afternoon. Also, thanks for the article on gear storage my rig is in a nice sealed dry dark bag thanks to you. -Dennis

A question for anyone at skydance. If i make the trip out there tomorrow, how hard is it to get a load up on a wednesday? I dont have a ton of time so id like to go up do two or three jumps then get home by early afternoon. I might be bringing a tandem or two with me so that will help my cause but they wont be purchasing video or anything. BTW It is going to be in the 80's this weekend! If not tomorrow see you guys saturday. I am the young guy with the smile glued to his face (finally got recurrent and bought a rig I know i owe some beer)

I am in college right now and that is more the reason I am hurting financially from skydiving. I know it is less than sailing and i didn't know it is less than ballroom dancing, but it is still a major part of my income right now, I guess i cant complain unless i get injured though.

I wouldn't say nuts but the man certainly has more disposable income than myself. I wouldn't buy new for my first rig though.

Can you explain why ballroom dancing can be expensive it is boggling my mind.

I will be doing a project for one of my finals and i was allowed to use the culture and history of skydiving as my research paper. Are there any significant people or events that I can research to get a better grasp on the history of this great sport. A name, event or story would help me out greatly so any information would be appreciated.

I took a break from skydiving for about 8 months and now i am back and plan on getting licensed and jumping weekly. I just bought my first rig and my god, expenses are adding up fast. Maybe they could make a mastercard commercial out of this. Never mind I answered my own question once i read the "read this first sticky" In case anyone else has this question here is the answer quoted from the sticky. The camera in question is a hard drive camcorder. Can I use a hard drive-type or DVD-based camcorders? A: No, unless you're only doing hop n' pops from low altitudes. Hard drives require air pressure in order to function properly. DVD drives cannot manage the stress and bounce of freefall. Stick with memory card or tape-based camcorders.

Does anybody know if this camera will work for skydiving? My dad bought this camera to do some video for his drumming business but after that he wont be using it too much. Just wondering if this camera will work if i decide to get into video after i get some more jumps in. -Dennis

I think you are doing the right thing however be careful your not too hard on him because it may reverse the effect and make him smoke more. If he gets his grades up and gets a job set up for the summer then that is all you can ask for. At 17 your son probably will smoke sometimes and go out and drink it is part of being a teenager. Just try to be fair with him and you will be able to gain an honest relationship with him, if you are too tough he will hide stuff from you and it will make it worse. If he gets good grades and keeps his act together, thats all you can ask for just try to talk to him about making good decisions. So many of my friends have DUI's and one of my best friends died after falling off a waterfall. Just talk to him about being safe because a bad decision good fuck him over for a long long time. Hope that helps a little. Oh ya and a job will definately help him keep busy but i can remember what i spent my money on with my paychecks. . .does he pay for his insurance or gas if not you should probably make him take care of that so he can only buy a sack and not an ounce at a time
