Awesome. Should I get this ZPX 117, what's the smallest Icon it would fit in - I2 or I1? Just thinking for way down the line if I get another new container. I have an I3 and am looking to get a Pilot 117 sometime in the future. I'd prefer the ZPX fabric but realise that an I3 is sized for a regular ZP Pilot 117-132, so the ZPX 117 will be smaller. While smaller volume will it still be ok in the I3? Like, thinking "pack big" when packing...? Now obviously going by the manufacturer's measurements it should be too small, but I am asking because often containers can fit canopies smaller than the stated sizes. For example, I had a Wings W11 rig, with which I downsized to a Pilot 132. 132 is below the recommended sizes for that container, but it still fit fine. So if a Pilot 117 ZPX packs more like a Pilot 110 or that size, would it still fit looser, but ok? Resurfacing an old thread, but is there any advancement on the low pack volume Smart reserves talked about in this (and other) threads? Sky Switches - Affordable stills camera tongue switches and conversion adaptors, supporting various brands of camera (Canon, Sony, Nikon, Panasonic).

Bought it for a 2nd rig earlier this year, sent it off as soon as it arrived, so had no choice over the send off date. Do Cypres end up with a 2+ month service time in Europe every season? My view of this is, if they know they are going to be busy - get more staff in to cope. Bad planning on their part. The main answer you are going to get is "speak to your instructors" about suitable gear to purchase. They know you best, so are more likely to make informed decisions about what they think is suitable for you. But as for the numbers - the ones that come after the name of the parachute, e.g. Pilot 150, Stiletto 135, Velocity 96, Sabre2 170 etc are the size of the parachute in square feet. You might not think you need to go as high as 250, but you absolutely don't need to go as low as 90... No idea about the FU-110 and RU-110 thing. Never seen those myself, unless the FU and RU are names or abbreviations for the name of parachutes and the 110 is the size of the parachute? But that's just guessing. Just to clarify again, I'm not looking to get a Smart 110 or an Op.126. I am purely trying to find out information for simple knowledge's sake. I have a PD126 in my current rig and as I just got the container not that long ago, I will hope to have it for quite a long time still. I am only trying to get information. I am not looking to buy either, so there is no decision to even think about making! I hope that is clear!! No plans to. Don't have a Smart 110, don't have a Op. 126. As stated in my original post, this is just part of a general quest for info. I'm just trying to gauge which of the two packs the biggest/smallest and if possible, by how much. as I don't have either, I have no way of answering this question myself, hence me asking on here. Cheers. That's pretty much what I thought. On a more fine detail point of view, does it pack a little smaller, the same as or a little bigger than a Smart 110? I got a Cypres 2 in one rig and a Vigil 1 in the other. Happy with both, would happily continue to jump both. I'm more happy with the Vigil cause I haven't had down time with it yet. The Cypres 2 is off for its 8 year just now... and has been off for its 8 year for at least the last 6 or so weeks. That, I am not happy about at all. I'm lucky that I got 2 rigs, so can still jump when and if I want to. Not everyone has that, and with the current service time for a Cypres in Europe, it has so far covered a notable part of the "summer" season. That is why if I were to buy a new AAD now, it would be a Vigil 2. Seeking advice: Goggle/Sunglass Cam options

I used to own a Wings W11. It was made for a Pilot 150 and Smart 150, but would also fit a Pilot 168, albeit quite tightly. I then used it with a Pilot 132 without any problems either. So it definitely could hold Pilots in the range 132, 140, 150 and 168. Add ZPX into the mix and you could get larger ones in there too. I think I could have got my current Pilot 124 in as well, but I would definitely have had to think "pack big" when packing. Just a general quest for info here. For those that pack them, which of the Smart reserves does an Optimum 126 pack the same sort of size as? Thanks. Sky Switches - Affordable stills camera tongue switches and conversion adaptors, supporting various brands of camera (Canon, Sony, Nikon, Panasonic).

Well, if I've understood the responses correctly that's two different comparisons. One is for the canopy's physical area - where the Pilot is comparable to the similarly sized Sabre2. The other is for pack volumes, where the Pilot 132 may not be comparable to a Sabre2 135... Although MY experience for the latter is different to yours. I had a Wings W7 (no reserve in it at the time, so not the most accurate way of doing things) and I packed a Sabre2 135 in the main tray. It completely disfigured the reserve tray and looked too big for the container. I then packed a Pilot 132 in it, and it looked fine. Filming 4 way Camera suit questions
degeneration replied to degeneration's topic in Photography and Video
Nice ideas. Will definitely do this as and when I get the suit. I think the rather badly fitting 3/4/5th hand suit that I've got just now has quite big wings, and I got a brief from a current and experienced camera flyer on how to deploy, emergency drills etc. With a better fitting suit I imagine there will be some difference to how it flies, so will make sure I go over each of these again when I fly it. well, you seem to have 2 options, each with 2 generalised outcomes... Option 1) Get a 170. Possible outcomes, 1) it is exactly what you were wanting, you enjoy it have fun and build up your skills to progress to a 150 at a later date. 2) At sea level it is a bit tame for you, and not the step down you were hoping for. You get disappointed with your choice, so move to get a 150 asap. Option 2) Get a 150. Possible outcomes, 1) it is exactly what you were wanting, you enjoy it have fun and build up your skills to progress to a smaller canopy if you choose at a later date. 2) Even at sea level it is a bit too responsive and fast for you, you are disappointed with your choice and feel each jump is a risk that you might hurt yourself. Obviously there are many other outcomes in between and beyond. I don't know you or your jumping, so at the end of the day it is your choice and the best people to guide your choice are the experienced people that know you - any instructors at your DZ, the chief instructor or whoever - but as long as you are aware of the possible outcomes and are willing to accept the risks involved, then make the choice you are comfortable with. For what it is worth, I was jumping a Pilot 150 at jump 105 with a WL of 1.2, and I loved it. I had moved off of an old shitty PD170 with little flare on to it, and there was a world of difference for the better! Buying a ring sight set up - what parts are needed?
degeneration replied to degeneration's topic in Photography and Video
I'm planning on buying a ring sight set up for my camera helmet. I am going to get a Newton Cross Sight and the schumacher removable articulated bracket. Does the removable bracket come with something to join the cross sight's post to the removable bracket's post? Or is that what the swivel clamp thing is for? Filming 4 way Camera suit questions
degeneration replied to degeneration's topic in Photography and Video
So, I've emailed Symbiosis Suits about their camera suit options, and basically all the possible different things that I've mentioned to them, they've said they can do for me if I want. So it seems I can more or less get whatever I want done with the suit. So, I'm thinking of getting: 1) a 2 piece suit 2) slick nylon front on the jacket and top of the bootie bottoms, so it is fast fall like my FS suit 3) largest wings available The only thing I'm undecided on is: the forearm sleeves of the jacket. In a 1 piece suit, they can be spandex stretch material, like my fast fall FS suit, but this was not an option for the jacket, but I have been told they can do this if I want. Would I want this? I'm leaning towards yes, as that way it will be more like what I am used to with my FS suit. But does anyone have any more educated opinions than my guesswork?! Filming 4 way Camera suit questions

Cheers for the advice. Based on opinions here and from a conversation with one our team's previous camera fliers, some decisions have been made: I will get booties and the largest wings available. Just material and 1 or 2 piece to decide on now. As I'm in the UK, I would prefer to get a Symbiosis suit due to the relative ease should it not fit well and the lack of import tax with them being in the UK, so have emailed them about the options I may want. Will see how it goes, but any other opinions or advice would be welcomed. Filming 4 way Camera suit questions
degeneration replied to degeneration's topic in Photography and Video
What is the best type of camera suit to get for filming 4 way. I'm quite light, and in my 4 way team I wear about 12-16lbs of extra weight to keep up with my team. Next season it is likely I'll be filming rather than being in the 4way. So as far as suits go: 1) 1 piece or 2 piece? 2) wing size - small, medium or large? 3) Suit material - same as my FS suit, or more FF material? 4) Booties or not? My current preferences and thinking have made me want: 2 piece, large wings, material similar to my FS suit (fast fall) and booties, however reading and looking around has puts some doubts on those choices. 2 piece would be more comfy for just removing the top as and when I need, so I would definitely prefer this. All 2 piece suits I've seen are heavier cotton material rather than the more slick FS suit material. Figure this would make my fall rate slower, and with my head pointing more downwards rather than arching, that'll also slow my fall rate. So maybe not a great idea for me since I'm light. Large wings were because I figured, should I need to use wings to catch more air, if they are larger that would be better to help stop crashing through the formation! I had wanted booties as I'm used to them, but am not sure if they are really needed. So, opinions and ideas please. I'd be happy using either. They both show the altitude and that is what I want. All the geek features, I'm not personally bothered about, that is what my protrack is for. What would make me want to choose a Viso from the 2 options is L&B's customer service. It is quite simply the best in the world. They'll fix any problem pretty much in a way well beyond what you were expecting. The awesomeness of their customer service has made me decide to only use L&B for these sort of things.
