  1. safe the fucking around for IM, better gimme an explanation to my (for once) serious question.. you british tw@t! “Some may never live, but the crazy never die.” -Hunter S. Thompson "No. Try not. Do... or do not. There is no try." -Yoda
  2. i sleep in the bar, get smokes mugged from, smell nice and have a bad reputation.. “Some may never live, but the crazy never die.” -Hunter S. Thompson "No. Try not. Do... or do not. There is no try." -Yoda
  3. well, we dont get our license with 25 jumps for one.. “Some may never live, but the crazy never die.” -Hunter S. Thompson "No. Try not. Do... or do not. There is no try." -Yoda
  4. i've wondered that many times, and asked in respective threads, but never got an answer to it. all i know about them, if it wasnt for boogies or teams training, i read about on here. they sleep in the back of the hangar, mug smokes, smell bad and have generally a bad reputation.. in switzerland, everything works a bit different in skydiving. me, i packed my rig from my very first jump on. to pass AFF, you're automatically having to do the packing test which consists of a messed up rig that you have to bring in order. something along the lines of a step-through underneath the slider and some turn-around (or whatever that's called) above it. before that, your instructors will check certain steps during your aff to make sure you dont jump a malfunctioning canopy. those steps get less as you go along. so you're being thaught to take responsibilty of your own (well, the rented student-stuff anyway) gear right from the beginning on. i'm actually quite confident i'll hardly ever have a mal, as i'm taking great care of my packjobs. maybe part of that is i'm jumping an original sabre, so, i'm trying to prevent slammers anyway.. and actually, i wouldnt trust anyone else to do it too! if something does go wrong, its my own fuck up and the only one to blame is me. i read around here that people dont know how to pack, or are only using packers. for me this is part of skydiving, and i actually enjoy it, getting in close-up contact with my canopy, i can check on wear and so on. why this different attitude? cultural differences? i dont want to call for prejudices, you know, the fat, lazy, ignorant american.. why dont YOU pack for yourself!? “Some may never live, but the crazy never die.” -Hunter S. 5. Wow, it sure was cool of someone to drive you home since you were buzzed! it was more like, getting home, hitting on the whisky and then sleeping the buzz off. i've been an idiot in the past, wont happen again! Actually, thank you. I'm very glad to hear that.
  6. i've asked this question before, but why the hell dont you guys pack yourself? here, except for teams training, and maybe a boogie, its unheard of.. “Some may never live, but the crazy never die.” -Hunter S. Thompson "No. Try not. Do... or do not. There is no try." -Yoda
  7. i got to eat tripe as a kid, but at home it was made with tomato-, or brown sauce. i dont like its texture.. we were also made to eat liver which i never liked as a kid, but nowadays, i LOVE a good liver, with rösti (the yanks would probably call it hash-brown) and onion-sauce.. takes hardly a minute to cook, so its still kinda raw inside.. yummy!

  9. That is one neat view you have up there. +1 congrats on your 100th!
  10. i was thinking about skydiving from like 15yrs. old on. that was the time when all those skysurfers were present on tv. and since i was probably one of the first snowboarders in europe.. i'll be 34 this year. started out last year. i finally got around to do it, had the money and the time available. like you, i came up on this site and asked a bunch of questions. then went to the dropzone itself and checked that out. asked the instructors a bunch of questions, occupied one for half a day. in the end, i said, ok, i'll sign up for aff. she said "yea-yea (i bet)!", turning her eyes skyward. one month later, i was there. we were two guys starting our aff. me, the rather lazy, geeky-nerdy crazy type, and alex the sportsman. our instructors made a game out of who had to take who. my instructors lost.. alex flew through his aff. me, i struggled a little. guess who got his license first! alex was never to be seen again.. now, a little more than a year and 170 jumps later.. i'm really happy i took it up and wish, i did so much earlier.. never did a tandem. my wish and determination were my driving factors. i shit my pants on my second and third jump. at around 30 or 40 jumps i almost gave up due to some shit i did. quite a low pull for a student on an rw jump. now i'm happily freeflying, getting my canopy-piloting build up (major problem for a long time), i love that swooping stuff and want to get good at, so i'm completely drawn to the dark side.. oh, and wingsuiting sooner or later! so i got plenty of stuff to work on and wont be bored for the next 2- or 3000 jumps. and what i also wanted to tell you: i never considered myself to be the fearful guy. in fact, before skydiving, i was never scared of anything. maybe a little anxious about heights. for the first 100 jumps or so, i always had this urge to cut my main away, so i would spend less time under canopy.. i'm actually enjoying it now..
  11. i'm jumping in switzerland, and probably at one of the nicest dropzones. i'm sure we can get you hooked up with a chopper-jump. our dzo has a license for whatever aircraft that stands around at the airport..

  20. yea, i did a lot of progress in that season, my pattern (cut short) and accuracy are pretty well too! scored second in an accuracy jump contest for new jumpers not too long ago too! at least in an environment known to me.. i'm still lacking a bit of the "feel" for more/less (cross)wind. but i'm getting there. i even stand up downwinders n'shit! just have to develop a tad bit more of the feel, but otherwise, i think i'm on a good track. and so says my mentor. he wouldnt let me go on fronts at the beginning of season, but just recently he said, i got the sense to do it. so, i've asked today, and yea, he'll sort me out..!
  21. I'd venture to say I have quite a few more wingsuit flights than you do. I didnt vote for it because it's not a very good photo, that said I think the only pic that is worse is the Eagle and that's winning Pffft. Party pooper. u trying to bust my balls!? i'm man enough to say,, well, squeak, that might be true, but you havent started out as early as i (and laid it off again) did! “Some may never live, but the crazy never die.” -Hunter S.
