he he he he! I knew this one kid who had all these pornos on HD Blue ray. So I had to ask having been brought up on scrambled porn and low quality VHS porn with bad sound tracks why anyone would want porn in 1080p. His response "I want to full immersive experience and pointed to the surround sound system." But it's funny for us old enough to remember scrambled porn and VHS porn that we can now get porn on our cell phones.....if I had this kind of technology when I was 15 instead of those vintage Playboys and Hustlers....I would be totally blind! ..but thank god you didnt have it so your eyesight is slightly better with 1/20.. “Some may never live, but the crazy never die.” -Hunter S. All Action Sports are dangerous

Dayum! That's scary. To take a positive from this horrible story, at least this inflatable bag might give you a chance to survive one of these...if you don't get crushed to death by a bus sized chunk of ice. Its not the ice chunks... almost no ice in fact.... its just the snow itself unless you get in one that rips into what should be a safe zone in the trees or if starts high and grabs some rock. All of what hit me was in wide open areas with nothing but snow.... and once it stops... it just hardens in an instant... till then its just like tumbling and flowing and floating along.. the only avalanche i've ever been near to, once it stopped, the top part would still push and push. upon further examination, the snow was more like concrete. you wouldnt wanna be in there! “Some may never live, but the crazy never die.” -Hunter S. Cracker openings?? Packing q?
virgin-burner replied to wingit's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
i used to get funky openings, now i just let the nose hang, try putting the grommets at an angle, basically so that they're facing each other bottomside. you can also try folding the seams outside over the length of the slider (the part between the lines). “Some may never live, but the crazy never die.” -Hunter S. Atmo Angled Body Piloting
virgin-burner replied to AtmoBodyPilot's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
dont take this the wrong way, but instead of praying the atmo-gospel here, why dont you present us with a concept of future competitions!? or your vision of how they should be held. that would be way more beneficial to your cause than saying "we as a community should stand together and get this started" - because nobody knows crap about how such a format should look like.. if it's interesting and appealing enough to jumpers, you will find more people to go for your project. just sayin'.. “Some may never live, but the crazy never die.” -Hunter S. Thompson "No. Try not. Do... or do not. There is no try." -Yoda -
so you say something like f-111 is better suited than 0-p or ripstop!? how wide was your setup? tension on the "base" or hardly any? do you have video!?

Atmo Angled Body Piloting
virgin-burner replied to AtmoBodyPilot's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
i guess what i'm trying to say is that, it's nothing really new; wingsuiting and the comps that have emerged from that, acrobatic events, even bigways, IS something new. i like flying "atmo"; i like tracking; i cant fly HD even if my life depended on it so cant comment on that - but you dont have to re-invent the wheel for that. there are no tracking-comps, no flocking-comps.. why should there be for atmo!? and yea, marco and his fellows may have exagarated a bit with their re-inventing of physics, plus the "licensing" they provide, which notably, is not free.. sometimes i'm left to think that jumpers of ALL sorts, be them skydivers or BASEjumpers are all after a quick buck. and many of those that want to be paid learned basically FREE. and i really dont like that trend. we'll end up in a culture where if you have 5 jumps more than the next guy, he has to pay your slot so he can be on your jump.. “Some may never live, but the crazy never die.” -Hunter S. so what you say is, there needs to be tension on the banner to make it fly right!? is 70ft (20 meters) doable!? what about the material, what will make a nicer effect, something really light like zero-p or something heavier/sturder like nylon-ripstop? or cotton or what should i look at!? “Some may never live, but the crazy never die.” -Hunter S. Atmo Angled Body Piloting
virgin-burner replied to AtmoBodyPilot's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
"tracing" as far as i know it, is a mix of tracking, flocking, head-down.. and it's a term mostly used by our nordic friends. most others would refer to it as "chasing each other around in the sky", or a bit more simple, freeflying! “Some may never live, but the crazy never die.” -Hunter S. Thompson "No. Try not. Do... or do not. There is no try." -Yoda -
that's a good idea! the materials available seem to be in the 100-120cm range, some even 160cm's.. anybody has an idea on how tension influences the "looks" of the banner, or wouldnt it be affected much!? another idea would be a 3-ring-release-kinda-system maybe.. “Some may never live, but the crazy never die.” -Hunter S. so what's your view on tracing, the latest "invention" in freeflying!? “Some may never live, but the crazy never die.” -Hunter S. Thompson "No. Try not. Do... or do not. There is no try." -Yoda -
i think i have two problems and each solution kinda excludes the solution to the other.. “Some may never live, but the crazy never die.” -Hunter S. Thompson "No. Try not. Do... or do not. There is no try." -Yoda

another thought that crossed my mind, with all the extra drag added, if i'd got with 70ft long, i wont hang underneath the canopy horizontal!? as funny as that would look like.. i'm still trying to figure out an RSL-option to install on the dive-loop; anybody has a suggestion for that? it would be nice if it released automatically in case of a cutaway, but i cant come up with a solution that is also dealing with the drag. and to complicate things even more, i dont want to do too much in-air rigging. the idea is to carry it in a container, jump out, deploy the canopy and then to hook up the banner in a safe way. or just attach it to the dive-loop!? if you have to cutaway, the banner would be gone with the canopy! nope, there's still the snag-hazerd on either other jumpers or on landing.. grrr!!! am i overthinking this? i just dont like the solution in my original post much.. guys, give me suggestions!

yea, i wrote an email to paratec, they offer f-111 for like 13 euros and zero-p for almost 16 per meter, but they're 160cm wide.. if i'm gonna make one i want it to be durable, so ripstop-nylon is probably the best bet. so, since i dont like the attachment to risers.. best bet would be to make a loop for arm and foot each. should have a cutaway for the arm at least since you're gonna stick most of that limb through it, foot would be easier to get rid off. OR, attach it to the riser anyway and install some sort of RSL to it!? that should work, no!? i'm sure i havent thought of some possible scenarios.. “Some may never live, but the crazy never die.” -Hunter S. i've watched this video burningsky has a "how to" here: http://burningsky.org/index.php?topic=583.0 but honestly, i think it's terribly unsafe, and to boot, fucking stupid. i mean who the hell wants to connect parts of the main, be it risers or slider, to parts of your body; even after it's open. it would be different if there was some sort of cutaway-system integrated, but just "carabiner" it onto your dive-loop and your foot.. i cringe at the thought. would probably make for a nice landing if the banner snags something on the ground or some clown thinks it would be fun to step on it.. has anyone experience with long banners, i mean in the 60-70ft range, under canopy!? i dont think you'll need to put weights on it.. i'm basically shopping for ideas.. “Some may never live, but the crazy never die.” -Hunter S. Mick Cottle made at least one Reflex with a leather container which was pretty cool apart from the 60 day repack cycle that goes with natural materials. i know of an elder gentleman with a leather-rig.. no idea what brand tough! “Some may never live, but the crazy never die.” -Hunter S.
