  1. Thanks guys. I actually made my first Tandem a few weeks ago and everything they said about breathing nice and slow and 'hanging loose' prior to the exit really made it all more enjoyable. As soon as we were out and stable that was it for me...Hooked! I did learn a lot on that day but i'm really looking forward to being 'under silk' solo for the first time. Having watched a few static line jump videos it definately seems that the jumpers with the cleanest exits are the ones who's mains open nice and clean without the twist. Damn, I can't wait!
  2. Well, that certainly makes sense to me. Thanks for that.
  3. I'm starting my RAPS Static course in a few weeks and while i'm sure i'll learn everything on the course, i'd like to know if there's things I can practise now in the meantime that might benefit my performance and progression? I've been reading the Skydiver's handbook and trying to take in as much as I can, but at this early stage what should I be looking to practise? I figured some time spent lying on the table practising my Arch position, some PLF's in the garden and drilling the counts into my head would be a good place to start. At the end of the day when I get to the course i'm gonna keep my mouth shut and eyes and ears open, but if there's anything that can be suggested in terms of home practise I'd appreciate it.
  4. While many of you will not recognise IBS as being a disability, it is still a condition which makes it nessacary for me to take prescribed medication on most days to control my symptoms. I am booked to begin my RAPS course in just under a month, and although I completed my Tandem with no problems whatsoever, I mentioned my condition to my instructor and he insisted I obtain the Medical Consent From from my Doc. Does anyone here suffer from IBS or know anyone that does and still jumps ok? My appointment with the Doc is on Mon but until then any info would be a great help. Thanks.
  5. Thank you! I've just put the phone down confirming my first two RAPS Static-Line Jumps on 24th& 25th March at London Parachute School with a buddy of mine. Can't wait!
  6. Thanks bud, exactly what I was looking for.
  7. Hi Guys and Girls. As a real newbie I'll keep this brief, but i'm trying to find the best ways of getting to watch some BASE first hand. I'm based in England and so I'd love to hear from anyone that jumps over here, but I'd be willing to travel for big events. I'm hoping to go to Bridge Day in October and if I can find out when/where it's going to be held i'd love to visit the World BASE Champs. Basically I'm looking to get some photography/Video work done (Amateur) and hopefully meet and talk to one or two jumpers along the way. I'm a long way from attempting to Jump myself at this stage, but I still find it fascinating. If anyone could point me in the right direction I'd be really grateful, the best I've managed so far is stumbling across the place in NYC where Jeb Corliss made THAT jump...Pretty cool nonetheless!
  8. Firstly hello to all involved with Dropzone.com! I did my first Tandem jump with Carolina Skysports just under a month ago - 14,000ft from a Twin Otter - Resulting in one SERIOUSLY hooked soon-to-be-skydiver!! Based in England, I am booked on my Static-Line RAPS course on 31st March and can't wait! Depending on looming redunancies at my workplace, I may then progress to AFF or if the money isn't coming in as much as i'd like i'll progress with the Static. I have to say that during the short time I've been looking at the posts re: Safety, Dropzones and Cutaways I feel that I could 'top-up' my knowledge of the sport while I'm not at the DZ. Hopefully I'll have some cool progress reports soon!
