It's a very slight movement, not a huge turn, just enough to create an unsymmetrical plane to cause the air to bleed off on either side. Another suggestion, try doing it while sitting on a chair. Sit upright, with your back off the chair back, and try it that way. By sitting down, the weight of yoru body will keep your hips from moving and you only have to focus on your shoulders staying still. Good luck. "I live to EFS" Tom

1st naked jump out of the B-17 this year at Quincy (jump#242). 1st PLF through a mailbox while landing out (jump#16). Score: Me=1, Mailbox=0. Totalled the mailbox and wooden frame, I walked away without a scratch. 1st golf course landing (on the fairway) at Skydive Houston (jump #64). 1st time getting laid in the Otter (hump#327....LOL). 1st time throwing up under canopy(jump#23). 1st time waking up a family at 6am in Lake Wales to let me out of their locked backyard that I landed in after a balloon jump. (jump#94) (I had to walk through the house to get out the front door, they were sooooo not happy with me.) That's it, those are my best beer stories. "I live to EFS" Tom

The simplest and most efficient side sliding technique I have seen and use is simply to turn your chest. Stand in front of a mirror and arch. Now, while keeping your hips and shoulders stationary, turn just your chest/torso section to one side. By turning your chest, you are bringing one side of your chest lower than the other, and the air coming up at you will spill off to the higher side, causing a side slide. Turn jsut your chest the other directiont to counter it. All the above suggestions work, but they can also reduce your stability a bit and also affect your fall rate control. Just practice turning your torso/chest (even if just a small degree, it;ll make a difference) while keeping your shoulders square and your hips level, do it enough on the ground infront of a mirror and you'll see and feel how it should be, and then it will be second nature in the air. I've never heard of a jumper hitting a bird in freefall. A Cessna? Yes. But not a bird. A jumper hit the tail of a Cessna a few years ago. Took out the rear stabilizing wing (called an eleron?). The jumper lost a foot, but lived, the plane ended up going in. Not sure on the details, but it is a true story from what I have heard. "I live to EFS" Tom

Joined the mile high club on a Delta transatlantic overnight flight to Charles De Gaulle airport April 2001. Renewed membership on return flight two weeks later. I think we were on a Boeing 777, it seated 386 people, friggin HUGE plane, very easy to get lost in........

There are a few different types of ring sights available, they range from maybe $50 up to about $200. Check out www.pierltd.com they carry all the brands. They move a pretty high volume of sights so I would assume they would get broken ones returned and may have a few lying around. Hope that helps. (For the record, I jump with a sight, and it works fine, but before I got the site, I had a friend point my camera while I was wearing it, at an object. I then took a black permanent marker and closed one eye, while marking the other eye on the goggles. When I opened both eyes, I had a perfect sight through the marker points. The most IMPORTANT lesson to learn in all of skydiving is: When skydiving naked, when it's time to deploy your main, make ABSOLUTELY sure your teabag and such haven't found thier way under either leg strap. The "Ball-Over" malfunction may not be the most dangerous malfunction that can happen, but from what I have heard at bonfires, it is by far the most painful. "I live to EFS" Tom
