Just got back from there. Skydive Cancun is actually in Playa del Carmen next to Senor Frogs. You walk thru Senor Frogs to get to the store front that is manifest. The landing area is very tiny maybe 30 yards sq on a poplulated beach. You must have your own gear and D license to jump there. It is basically a tandem factory. The plane was down for repairs when we were there. I think they have a Cessna but not sure. On the other hand Playa del Carmen was a really fun town. Very friendly to tourist lots of night life etc. It reminded me of Venice beach in So Cal. It is a cruise ship stop and the ferry to and from Cozumel has a terminal there. Lots of locals. No skydiving for us but we still had a blast. If you are going to Cancun then Playa del Carmen is about a 45 minute drive from there. Hope this helps.

Just that statement makes YOU sound like a racist.

I"m with you lauralicious. If I had to bail I would have bailed on my reserve because that is what I would have been comfortable doing at that altitude. However, I would most likely have landed with the plane. But only because it was my home DZ and the pilot is a long time family friend and I have complete faith that he would not have given the option to land with the plane if he thought it was a really bad situation. That being said another DZ and pilot I don't know that well I would have been out of there fast. I think everyone should have an idea of what they would do at various altitudes if they had to bail out. AND you should have that in mind before you get in the plane. I have said this before and I will say it again. Altitude awareness begins as soon as you take off. I know that I frequently check my altimeter during flight and keep in mind what I would do if I had to bail out. At 6000' (anyone that jumps with me knows that at 6000' I have to apply sparkle lip gloss) I then know that no matter what I can bail on my main. This is so weird because I jumped a four way with a student the week before and had this exact discussion on the plane ride up. When we were about 1500' I asked him what he would do if the pilot told us to get out right now. He gave me the deer in the headlight look so I explained my philosophy on altitude awareness going up and coming down. JMO

I know several SEAL team guys and none of them would ever tell you that they were SEALS. That applied even when I was active duty in the Navy.

You should post when you are coming and we will be on the look out to welcome you. BTW there is a big contingent of belly flyers and freeflyers. We build some awesome hybird jumps at the Farm. You will not be disappointed making the trip. -
That one really sounds good.

Me too Andy. I want to be in the "in" group. Actually, aren't you and I already in a clique? The gets up early in the morning crew?

Does anyone have advice about the Nitron canopy. I just got my new Nitron 135 and the flight charactisitcs are so different than my old canopy. I used to fly a zp.exe from Parachute Systems( South African company) Note to my friend Ian. I did not downsize just changed canopy type. So what I have noticed right off is the range. I felt like I stayed up in the air forever. And the flair is different I easily stood up landings. Also, once I started my flair it feels like I am flying across the ground level for a long time before I finish the flair and touch the ground. My former canopy was very ground hungry. Zero swoop on landing. Is the snivel on the Nitron really long or is that just me? Of course the openings have been very soft and on heading so I am not complaining. Any advice on how to fly the Nitron is welcome.

Not sure about the differences but I have a Nitron 135 and I LOVE it. I demoed the Nitron 135 and a Sabre II 135. I liked the flair on the Nitron really well. No problem with landings at all.

We now have three so we need one more.

I hate that you did not get in on a jump with any of the Farm Animals. If you get back down PM me and if you are a belly flyer we can definately jump together. Sometimes I even get all girl belly ways going. If you freefly ask for Sunman. He can hook you up with that crowd. Blues, Kathleen -

OK so here is the deal. Usually, when I am there, I am the social butterfly that goes around to meet everyone. I even drag folks out of the corner to chat with our belly flying group. So if you come again. Find me and hang out. You can ask almost anyone at the Farm who I am. Including the fresh off AFF students who I make a point of talking with. Now you have no reason to say it is cliquey because you are invited to hang out with us. It is just so weird to hear that we are snobby or something. I mean we go eat after jumping together in a heard on the bus. -
See you Sunday then. I am spending the night and have to leave around 11am for work on Sunday. If you get there early maybe we can get a dive in. Or better yet you could "get sick" at work around lunch time on Saturday. Alittle fresh air would probably cure it too.

It will not be cloudy. We will be jumping. As a matter of fact I have never seen any clouds at the Farm. Maybe just a little industrial haze now and then.

Would anyone in the southeast be interested in starting a serious 4 way team. So here is what we have already. Manager, coach and team rates on loads. This would be for an intermediate team to go to nationals. There are already two people interested but of course we need two more. PM me if interested.

Come on out to the Farm this weekend. There is a four way meet on Saturday. There will be national and world champions there. I am sure there will be some awesome post jump videos to see too.

Glad to see you on this thread Dale. I was about to refer to your website. -
That is quite possibly the dumbest thing I have ever seen. Do they really have a death wish?

Dale that is awesome! Keep it up. I am sooooo glad to see that strap across your butt. I was really worried before. Come and see us at Skydive the Farm if you ever get to the states. I will take you out of the Otter on a four way! I think you could be the inside center position and sit in the door for the exit no problem. Blues, Kathleen
