Pretty impressive since you only had 66 jumps. I had only 136 jumps. It was my 8th square jump (cobra10), my first silly suit jump (I weighed 130lbs). We did a 4 man star with Carl Quafford and Landon Kelsey from 8500' and I noted in my log book "Arvel put some nice flying on me". Not bad considering the cement trucks we wore on our backs. Oh. BTW. I didn't have a license either. My first and only license I've ever had is my C. I hate paper work! ~Paul Creel SCS-5015

If you are having recurrent dislocations chances are you have a rotator cuff injury. The best way by far to diagnose this is with an MRI. Many times surgery will have to be performed. Ask your orthopedic surgeon about having a MRI exam. ~Paul Creel SCS-5015

Sorry that I just now ran across this post. What I remember about the blast handle is that we were trying to move away from D handle ripcords to lesson the possibility of a snag danger. I loved my blast handle because there was little chance of getting it caught by something on exit. It was very easy to find. After I modified mine, by removing the sheath that held it in place, you could pull it in any direction and it came out easily. Had two cutaways with it and never even had to look for it. After being out of the sport for 23 years I was shocked to see that D handle ripcords, tight jumpsuits and AAD's were back! ~Paul Creel SCS-5015 -
if the pictures don't start for you, you will need to download the flash plugin. you will also need high bandwidth. dialup would take forever. ~Paul Creel SCS-5015

Finally found my old pictures of SCPR which date from 1977. I put these up quickly on my web site so please excuse any inaccuracies. Over 200 pics here so please be patient as they take some time to load. http://www.pauls-online.org/photos/scpr/ ~Paul Creel SCS-5015

Luckily it was your fibula that you fractured. Since it is not a weight bearing bone you will only need to get a cast. Fibula fractures do not need reducing. Congrats to all from Paul and Belinda. You all rule! ~Paul Creel SCS-5015

So does anyone here recall what became of Landon? ~Paul Creel SCS-5015 -
I put ~300 jumps on mine without any problems. It seemed to be in good shape the day I sold it. I used the standard side pack on it. But I did roll the nose to slow down the openings a bit. It only took about 300' to open. But that was a slow opening compared to my piglet. ~Paul Creel SCS-5015

Hey thanks for the ad. I've never seen that one before. The only ad I ever remember seeing was only about 2 x 3" in the Parachutist. ~Paul Creel SCS-5015

Yes the canopy in the background is indeed a Starlite. I had two friends who jumped them. I hear they opened quite hard. ~Paul Creel SCS-5015

I've searched the Internet high and low and I can't find a picture of the Cobra 10 anywhere. So, for the sake of posterity, I will post a pic of mine taken over Spaceland at Dickinson TX ~1982. ~Paul Creel SCS-5015

My memories of it were that of soft openings and soft landings...but I had been jumping a piglet before that. But I agree on the construction quality. Mine had a turn in it from day 1. Does anyone recall the square footage of it? ~Paul Creel SCS-5015

Oh my gosh Wendy you knew Landon? Back in the days that he jumped his American flag PC we called him Crash Landon. I still have a pic of his PC somewhere..and also a pic of his SCR ceremony at SCPR. Of coarse I was forever branded with the nick of PC because of my initials. So what ever happened to Landon? He was one of our 4 way team named volitation. ~Paul Creel SCS-5015 -

Sorry my pics were to large to upload...so lets try this again. The first pic is of me. It was taken at the Houston Gulf Airport Spaceland in about 82. The man who took it was named Bud Johnson. The 2nd pic is of myself (red js) Landon Kelsey (white js) and Carl Quafford (black js). Does any one know these jumpers? ~Paul Creel SCS-5015 -

I've been out of the sport for 20+ years. I just recently recertified at Spaceland, Rosharon. Coming to this forum is like walking through a time warp. You guys are talking about all the old time jumpers that I learned from and jumped with. I started jumping on Oct 1, 1977 at Spring Creek Parachute Ranch (close to Waller, Tx). One of my first jumpmasters was Laird Cogburn. I often jumped at Spaceland (Dickenson, Tx) from late 70's to early 80's. I have a few old pictures from that time if you would enjoy looking at them. The DC3 that you all have referred to (if it was the blue one) was a plane named Skytrain. That plane was brought in often for boogies at Spaceland. Thanks, Paul Creel C-13328 ~Paul Creel SCS-5015 -
Does anyone recall the specs on a ram air called the "Cobra 10"? The canopy came out in ~ 1982. ~Paul Creel SCS-5015
