No, I just pissed her off... Do I sense a banning coming on?
  7. what spurs on my attitude is interacting with the people who I know are the butt kissers. I do my job to the best of my ability 100% of the time. However I will not kiss ass. The line is very divided here,it is very obvious who they are and who the rest of us are.
  8. Yeah working for a church is a sure fire guaranteed way to turn one against organized religion! I used to go to church every Sunday (my church is not affiliated with my job), but havent been in a few months now. It breaks my heart cause my kids are begging me to go. But come Sunday morning I just cant bring myself to do it.
  9. Things at my job are falling apart at the seems. I work for a local church conference that oversees all the churches for this paticular denomination in Florida. Starting about mid-october MAJOR changes were made, 2 positions were elimanated, for two long time employees. Then last week, 2 more were eliminated for 2 more ladies who have been here for 2 years. My supervisor tells me I am ok. However, one can never be 100%. I have been working here 1.5 years and for the first time ever I am hating my job and with the exception of a handful of people, I dislike most of those I work with. I have been chair of the social committee for the past year and recently one of the higher ups went whining and crying like a spoiled brat just to get her way concerning a pre-christmas event. I know I am just venting, I don't graduate until May so I am here at least until then....(hopefully). The people whose positions have been eliminated have all said there is more to come... moral is very low, and distrust and anger is high through out the building. I hate being angry and having a bad attitude, but lately, it pretty much goes with the place....
  10. I think is should be FUCK. What a well rounded word with so many uses!
  11. Ok in the height of my blondeness, please tell me this is a joke....
  12. Because you don't have a cat, your cat has a person. Dogs have oweners... cats have slaves.... just the way it is...
  13. If anyone here has any Holiday Inn points that they could donate to help out Lee & Brandy's families while they are in town would be awesome. Just another way to help them during this terrible time. If you have any points you want to donate, please contact Tanya (Tmaricle55). Thanks a million, you guys are the greatest!!!!!
  14. And, if you don't mind my asking, what are those reasons? The same reasons that have been stated here, that Pullman is a devout atheist who is trying to teach the kids of the world that there is no Christ or that He is a false prophet.
  15. As Jaye and I both stated in our posts, we both have friends of various religous and non-religous beliefs. I don't have any issues with my friends and what they choose to believe as long as they don't try to impose their beliefs on me and my kids. I would not talk about my beliefs unless they invited me to do so, its a respect thing. I heard a quote one time and really wish I could find the author, becuase it (too me) is very powerful. The quote is: "I would rather live life believing in God only to find out in the end that He doesn't exist rather than to live life not believing in Him to find out in the end that He does exist." That pretty much sums it up for me.... PS, Jen, I think you are a great person with a lot of neat insight and values. I hope to meet you one day and jump with you.
  16. I appreciate your insight and remember being a kid too, and remember doing all the things my parents said I could not do. I was quite the rebel as a kid. However, why I could not or should not do those things was never explained. That is one that I have changed about the way I parent. I take the time to explain why I have made my decisions. Also, all my kids have been in church since birth. They have also heard they reasons why they should not see this movie from their sunday school leaders and youth pastor. My kids are more grounded in their faith than I am. Thats the only thing that I know I have done right as a parent.
  17. How did you feel about Narnia? I have the series here in front of me (crammed in this bookcase somewhere ). I have the movie, too. I thought it was brilliant. I didn't see CS Lewis waving a flag saying 'death to Christians'. Pullman could write a cookbook and I wouldn't buy it. I'll explain it to you this way; if this guy named Larry hated my dad and tried to tell the community that dad's business was a sham, a hoax, and illegal...would I EVER buy anything to support Larry? I'm not very good at analogies. I haven't seen the movie or read the book. I have read the author's own words and understand him to be an asshole and trying to get my kid to think that she isn't worth what we tell her she is. In my very humble opinion, he is a jackass and won't be invited into our home. We have Baptist and Jewish and LDS & atheist friends. None of them would dare try to impose their ideals on my kids in my home. This guy is. He's outta here. I agree with you 200% Jaye! My kids will not see the movie or read the books. I am a Christian and proud of it, I may not always live the way I should, but I am also human. However, anyone who is a self-admitted atheist "hell-bent" on changing kids to believe that there is no Christ or that He is a false prophet has no place in my life. Things, short of miracles have happened in my life on more than one occassion that can only be described as God working in my life. I am a believer, born again Christian and so are my kids. I too have friends who fall into all categories where religion and faith is concerned, and I myself am not a big fan of organized religion, but rather a personal friendship and relationship with God himself. OK flame away....
