  1. ROFLMAO! Those are priceless!!! I copied them to a bulletin on "my"space!!! I have been around horses my entire life and have so seen all of those things. My one mare now that is do to foal in Feb, is a crackhead and a half!!!! You can just look at her and go "boogity boogity boo" and she will literally jump out of her skin and be all white eyed and snorting 2 hours later still... funny thing is, once she is saddled, anyone can ride her, including my 5 yr old, totally different horse....
  2. I must disagree, 15 is not old for a horse, that comparaitive to someone in their late 30's as a person. My barrel horse that I have been running competitively since 2000 is approaching 18 and other than getting her teeth floated occasionally, she is in perfect health. How long of a period was it where this mare was loosing weight? Did she have any other symptoms, IE running nose, coughing, labored breathing etc.... there are a myriad of things it could be and while I am not a vet, I have been riding horses since before I could walk and now I train where I live. If you had just given her a heavy dose of wormer before she died and she was infested with worms that could have done it, but if she had been on a regular worming schedule, Id say probably not. If I can be of any help, let me know. I know how it is to loose a beloved horse, my dad had to put my favorite horse to sleep (age 35) when I was in boot camp. He could no longer get up when he would lay down, so we all knew it was time to help him cross the bridge....
  3. Yes, good men are either obsolete, gay or taken... there are plenty of the men who thrive on breaking hearts and crapping all over women....
  4. Yes it was their jump plane, however per a friend of mine who works there, it was the back-up plane that they use.
  5. Thanks! I cant wait to get working in this field. I truly love helping people... I spoke to our County EMS office to just get more info (all EMS workers are county unless they work for a private Life FLight or something around here.) He told me that they work 3 days a week, 2 15's and a 10 and start just under 26,000 a year as an EMT B, but get two raises a year. Sounds good to me! The biggest thing Im worried about is once I get on the job and second guessing my training. I hope that doesnt sound stupid....
  6. Thanks! Im so excited, I feel like Im busting at the seems!
  7. I have to take the First Responder class first which PCC stretches out over a semester, 1 night per week. Then in Jan I actually start the EMS classes....
  8. No hair anywhere, except for a nice high & tight haircut!
  9. I have always wanted to be an EMT and this morning on my way to work, it really struck me to pursue this. So I called the local college today, today was the last day for applying for this semester, I got enrolled, went and paid for my class, and am going to get my text book after work today. Monday night I will start First Responder class! I just spoke to the instructor and he said I will be all set to take my board in May and go to work! I am so EXCITED! This has been a back burner dream for 15 years! woohoo! For it being so last minute, everything is going so smoothly! Wish me luck!
  10. Skydiver with a lot of money & single isnt that an oxymoron?????
  11. No offense taken.... I really do love to jump, but my ex got me into jumping and I was always left home with the kids. Now he is not in the picture, other than as a friend and a dad to the kids and I want to jump for me out of his shadow. The kids are getting older, and babysitters are easier to come by. I just don't want to fiddle fart around with it, if Im gonna jump, I wanna stay current and get good. its really discouraging to see people who have been in the sport as long as I have who have 10x the jumps I have along with instructor ratings and so on. I have had goals for myself for awhile as a skydiver. I still have the goals, but feel I can't safely pursue them until Im able to jump full time. In the mean time, I'd like to make some friends who understand this sport I love so much. Make sense?
  12. The dz that I am thinking about going too, does have rental rigs but not what I can afford along with jumps, repacks, and the coach jump I would need to get current. I would love it if I had that opportunity available to me.
  13. So I guess what Im asking is to go to a dz ive never been to, get to know the people, but ya know on hey, im not jumping right now, but I still wanna hang out with people I have something in common with kinda thing, so that when Im at a place in life where I can jump again, I already have friends... how goofy is that?
  14. Life is once again getting in the way of me jumping and I just recently sold my recently acquired rig. This is getting so aggrevating, I havent really been in the grove for a few years now and I miss it so much, I don't have many friends around here that jump and I miss that too. I have only made 3 jumps this year and I have decided to put it on the back burner until I can stay current and jump as often as I would like. While I am not jumping is it weird to come hang out at the DZ after hours? Thanks for your input!
  15. We get annual raises at my job every Dec 31st. Last year I got 8% of my yearly salary which equates to $1.52 more per hour. I was shocked. My previous jobs, I have only gotten 50 cents at raise time. I also have a 12% vested pension at my job and totally amazing benefits!
  16. Amen sister! And I prefer the term "hetero-flexible"....
  17. Your True Love Is a Capricorn Why you'll love a Capricorn: Hard working and driven, a Capricorn will work overtime to win your heart. Be prepared to get wined and dined, even once you're convince that your Capricorn is the one! Why a Capricorn will love you: You don't rush things. You know it will take a while for a Capricorn to trust you, and you can wait. Social and outgoing, you can introduce normally shy Capricorn to a great circle of friends. my hubby is a capricorn...
  18. Thats great advice Mike!!! I have been to Parelli clinics as well as Clinton Anderson and Chris Cox. I have been around horses since before I could walk, I went to this clinics, wondering really what can I learn??? All three proved me dead wrong. I learned a ton and could go see all three again and again and learn more. It has to start with respect. Parelli covers this alot and I have used it alot with my own very broke horses and seen a big difference. Gain respect on the ground. Horses (usually) run like that out of fear and I think you've realized this. All three of the trainers I mentioned have great resources avail on their websites, and if you have RFD-TV ( satellite channel) Clinton Anderson and Chris Cox have regular shows on there. If you were any where near Florida, I would give you my sis's contact info. She is one the best fundamental/ground work trainers around here. She is also Parelli certified. She currently has a 6 yro mare, that when she bought could barely be haltered and led, had to be tranqualized to have her feet done etc etc. Several other trainers told the owners no way, that horse is crazy. My sis has only had her 6 months or so, has her completely broke and will work off voice commands, and can be ridden saddled without a bridle and will work thru all commands. Its really something to see. Anyway, sorry to be so long winded, horses are my true first passion in life....
