No, I thought the hinge on the FTP was modified to cut away. If you look at the Paragear website, the way they describe it is, "The retrofit cutaway system consists of new hardware for your back latch, and a loop cutaway cable." and the picture has the cutaway on the hinge side of the helmet, so I just wanted to see it. I've got the illusion w/ that cutaway you have shown, but thanks man!! ...it's not the fact that you don't appreciate what you have until it's gone...it's the fact that you don't appreciate what you have until someone appreciates it for you!

Can someone take pictures and show me what a FTP cutaway system looks like around the hinged area? Both outside and inside the helmet. BH doesn't have pictures that I have seen, and I just wanna know what it looks like. Thanks. *Disclaimer*-I don't own an FTP or have the intention of owning one, and I know I shouldn't be jumping camera right now due to experience, I'm just curious and looking, so please w/ hold the "you're not ready" comments. ...it's not the fact that you don't appreciate what you have until it's gone...it's the fact that you don't appreciate what you have until someone appreciates it for you!

Haha, thanks B!! Just FYI, that's not what I need help w/ on this weekend!! ...it's not the fact that you don't appreciate what you have until it's gone...it's the fact that you don't appreciate what you have until someone appreciates it for you!

Awesome input (not downing the rest of you) but thanks!! One quickie though. Do you wrap your arm over or reach up under and hold on? And about the mock tandems, WHEN I start, which is a ways away, that's what I would like to do. Either that or shoot teams when they ask to get a good feel for flying around. But thanks a million, and when I pull off that bathang (no tandem though) I'll let you know!!! ...it's not the fact that you don't appreciate what you have until it's gone...it's the fact that you don't appreciate what you have until someone appreciates it for you!

The only thing I'll be jumping remotely close is a camera helmet (illusion w/ jawbone) w/ no camera's on it, just to get used to a different fit. I'm not adding any weight or extensions or snag points to the helmet yet, and especially not until I develop that dual-lateral cutaway, just for my safety concerns. I understand the whole 200 jumps and C license and I fully intend to get there first!! ...it's not the fact that you don't appreciate what you have until it's gone...it's the fact that you don't appreciate what you have until someone appreciates it for you!
-
Ah, man you don't get it though. I'm not jumping it now. I have no want to jump it right now. That's why I'm f'in around w/ the helmets structurally. I won't jump camera for a while, that's it. ...it's not the fact that you don't appreciate what you have until it's gone...it's the fact that you don't appreciate what you have until someone appreciates it for you!

That's all fine and well, That's why the helmet I have has been gutted and is being worked on, I was just looking at ideas. I've jumped the "camera-less" camera helmet to get used to it, but now I'm done jumping it for a while b/c I am trying to piece/develop an illusion dual-sided cutaway instead of the one sided. Dude, if I wasn't able to deal w/ the thought of dying, I would be involved in motor sports and sure as hell wouldn't have started skydiving. Give me some sort of credit for not being the 5 jump wonder and straps a camera to a helmet the day after the A-stamp (bit of over exaggeration in time, but you know what I mean) ...it's not the fact that you don't appreciate what you have until it's gone...it's the fact that you don't appreciate what you have until someone appreciates it for you!

There were some parts there that were really scary like the linked up spin w/ the TI and coming up underneath him and the chest strap on that lady, but other than that, those were the best video's for shot wise and all that I've seen. I like that shot. Thanks for the input, and please take my comments/criticism on safety as just a 100 jump wonder looking, it was just my observations. ...it's not the fact that you don't appreciate what you have until it's gone...it's the fact that you don't appreciate what you have until someone appreciates it for you!

Magnetic slider stops// Hand tack slider to canopy
iambeav2 replied to N24's topic in Gear and Rigging
I mean yeah, this sounds like a wonderful idea, for I myself have a Sabre 1, though big, used to smack me good. I have tweaked my packing methods and now have a beautiful snivel w/ a little less than 45 degree off heading opening, less often than so. Pretty soon, if these magnetic riser stops come out, someone'll still have a hard opening and someone'll say "get stronger magnets" (in order to keep a small slider for pack volume) and something'll happen and the slider just won't come down at all. Hey, McDonalds commercial here...it could happen!! ...it's not the fact that you don't appreciate what you have until it's gone...it's the fact that you don't appreciate what you have until someone appreciates it for you! -
Jump the Pitts BiPlane at West Tennesee
iambeav2 replied to donutair's topic in Events & Places to Jump
Lord knows I would freaking LOVE to do that. Come to NC, and it's a deal, lol. I bet Tradewind Sky Sports would love to accommodate you guys if we plan a somewhat kick-off for future boogies at this small DZ. It needs to be advertised, and this would get local jumpers unknowing of the DZ to come out there. Though this is the improper thread for DZ ads, I'm just saying, I'm getting him as much PR as possible. I love that place. If not there, see if you can come out to CSS or something. ...it's not the fact that you don't appreciate what you have until it's gone...it's the fact that you don't appreciate what you have until someone appreciates it for you! -
Jump the Pitts BiPlane at West Tennesee
iambeav2 replied to donutair's topic in Events & Places to Jump
Ok, that's cool. I would love to do it and my friend is refurbishing an old wwII biplane trainer, and I joke about him doing this w/ me. I am not sure how my post came about, but it wasn't meant to be "Hey guys don't do this, it's crazy stupid shit", I just wanted to know what was going on w/ it. But hell yeah, looks like fun, and thanks for the explanation. ...it's not the fact that you don't appreciate what you have until it's gone...it's the fact that you don't appreciate what you have until someone appreciates it for you! -
Jump the Pitts BiPlane at West Tennesee
iambeav2 replied to donutair's topic in Events & Places to Jump
Did anyone watch the 4 minute video of the jumpers on the invertedair website? The last 2 jumpers had rigs that had the Closing pin cover that closed up (like Mirage's) and getting out of the plane, it was flapping around. WTF? ...it's not the fact that you don't appreciate what you have until it's gone...it's the fact that you don't appreciate what you have until someone appreciates it for you! -
What if someone made a tracking tunnel, used for Birdman and tracking flight training? Technically have a rectangular room, atleast big enough for 3-4 flyers, and have the vertical wind to control downward fall rate, and on ONE wall have pretty much the same technology of the ground floor, but blowing relative wind to fly into. I mean, I'm not sure how well that'd work, but everything starts w/ a what if!! ...it's not the fact that you don't appreciate what you have until it's gone...it's the fact that you don't appreciate what you have until someone appreciates it for you!

Need this help, no takers? If never seen, atleast let me know what you think of the idea!?! ...it's not the fact that you don't appreciate what you have until it's gone...it's the fact that you don't appreciate what you have until someone appreciates it for you!
