They actually have not changed that much in the last 12 years are so. Maybe a 1/8" or so here and there on a couple of different sizes. *** Point I was trying make is that scaling 1"-2" hasn't made my Velos crazy. I would strongly suggest not to advise anyone to make a line set for a high performance canopy "+/- an inch or two...". Just my two cents worth. This is coming from someone that has built, tested, and jumped thousands of line sets. MEL .................................................................................. The tolerance is more like "maximum 1/2 inch left to right" but most manufacturers get the difference close to zero, on new canopies. By the time the difference exceeds 3 inches, you are due for new lines. You will only get meaningful numbers by measuring NEW line sets.

I'm of the same opinion. If you want a rig which has a MARD system then I'd get it but the benefit over a RSL is not enough to make me choose a rig because it has/has not got a MARD system. ...................................................................................... Agreed! If you are so low that the difference between a MARD and a simple RSL makes the difference between life-and-death ... you have made a LOT of mistakes on your way to the scene of the accident. Start by paying more attention to altitude: wrist-mounted visual altimeters, chest-mounted visual altimeters, mudflap-mounted altimeters, goggle-mounted flashing lights, multiple beepers in your helmet, automatic-activation-devices hidden in your reserve container, AADs strapped to the outside of your main container, main static-lines, etc.

There are basically 2 types of Main-Assisted-Reserve-Deployment: hook and pin. Pin-type MARDS were first seen on the Sorcer BASE container, circa 1990. Basic (France), Wings (Boost), Strong (Air Anchor), etc. have gradually been re-introduced to the skydiving business. Circa 2000, Relative Workshop introduced their Skyhook MARD. Over the last decade, RWS smoothed out most of the early hassles with Skyhooks installed in their Sigma Tandem, Vectors, etc.. RWS also licensed Skyhooks to: Icon (South Africa and USA), Javelin (USA), Next (Germany), etc. Now RWS has more than a decade, and umpteen thousand deployments on Skyhooks ... more than pin-type MARDS. Both systems vastly reduce the distance from cutaway to line-stretch on the reserve canopy. It is too early to tell which system is more reliable??????

............................................................................... Circa 1990, the Canadian Army got a lump of money to develop a new military freefall rig, so they hired Irvin Industries of Canada to perfect Para-Flite's MT1-XXX??? series. One of the products was larger version of Booth's 3-Ring canopy release system (RW-9).

Training plan management software suitable for skydiving.

I use one of those old-school, RW logbooks with only two jumps per page. When I jump with freefall students, I include a half-page of notes on their performance. One time a student forgot his logbook, so I handed my logbook to the instructor (who was jumping with him that day) and my notes were so detailed that the other instructor was able to coach the student on how to correct a couple of minor errors (on the previous jump) and assign new tasks for his next jump. -
Similarly, if your main risers never leave the container, the RSL just slides off the reserve ripcord, when you pull the reserve ripcord handle.

That looks like the same size as RW-9 3-Rings. Trivia question: who paid for development of the RW-9 harness ring?

Only thing more embarrassing was the airliner cleared to land at Dorval Airport, but they landed short at Cartierville Airport instead. Hah! Hah! -
................................................................................ Can you name 100 jump-planes? Hell, they're ALL jump planes. . . Although some require you to pull the handle between your knees to fire the seat . . . .................................................................................. Can you name 100 airplanes that can land on Lake Union TWICE?

Thanks for translating. Sounds like we I are forced to learn another dialect of the English language. -

That first scene (large biplane re-fuelling a Fokker monoplane) was part of a U.S. Army project to fly non-stop across the USA.

Sentinel 2000 pin-puller AAD with Micro Puller

Everyones' "mark one AADs" had problems that could only be fixed by returning to the factory. It is part of the normal learning curve. -

Just remember to track off to the side of the jump run before you start tracking back towards the ideal spot. Wing-suiters can teach you about this concept. -
Another way of looking at it is that you are paying a tandem instructor for the mistakes he made BEFORE he stated hauling students. Smart people learn from watching other people's mistakes. They only see mistakes from while spending hundreds of days on the DZ.
-
This Tandem Examiner votes in favour of the 3-year man, because he has helped load a few friends into ambulances, seen the results of %$#@! hook turns, etc. and is less likely to make those errors in judgment.

Performance Designs or Icarus will cheerfully print a large, fancy logo on a canopy. But the real challenge is convincing a corporate sponsor to pay.

Tell your Canadian customer that Spekon's North American Technical Representative (me) told you that those RE-5L harnesses are too badly frayed to return to service. I have the sewing machines, skills and time to re-harness those rigs (over the winter) or they can ship them back to Germany for re-harnessing. Hint: I can do the job for less than 500 euros per rig. from 2004, can be extended to 20 years depending of state of gear True, but those rigs are 5-6 years away from the need to be re certified ..................................................................................... Correction, under German law, they need to be re-certified every couple of years. Only a German "Prufur" can re-certify them for return to service. I may not hold a German "prufur" rating, but Spekon designated me as their North American Technical Representative before I repacked any of the RE-5L rigs in question.
