  1. I think there should be a way to put up a license, and student in the profile box. We all are, and always will be students to the sport(of course my newbie ass is, but Im talking even about 10,000+ jump #'s). Anyone who isnt, well...

    Spectre?

I love my new spectre 170. Doesnt always open on heading(I still suck at packing), usually opens pretty soft, relatively fast toggle turns(to me) and relatively light front riser pressure(to me). I think the factory steering lines may be a tad long for people with short arms, but at full extension I can get a perfect flare, and no matter how long I hold it at full brakes up high can not reach the stall point(but can easily reach it with rear risers). Overall a great canopy, I cant wait to put ~200 jumps on it and downsize to something a little more responsive though. Really, really easy canopy to fly well.
  3. Okay, what other "...valid reasons to cut away a perfectly good main..." can you come up with? I'll be upfront about it. I'd like to hear what you have to say... I'm anticipating a good laugh or two, no offense. How about this: I am under a working main, and see a plane/helicopter/something with rotors that will tear me in half traveling towards me with imminent collision potential. If I had no RSL, or could disconnect it with my teeth really quickly, and are at a proper altitude to cut away, Id cut away, fall away from the plane and when clear of it deploy the reserve assuming enough altitude. Thats the only reason I can come up with. Thoughts?
  4. One of my AFF instructors told me 9 times out of 10 you recover it and its fine at our DZ mile hi. Im not sure if this has any validity for extrapolation, but what does anyone think the ratio is like at their DZ? Obviously not any real stats, just what people have seen with their own eyes.
  5. going uncurrent isnt really a big deal once you have an A license. As a student, it sucks to go uncurrent cause they make you do an AFF level 4 at full price which sucks and is embarassing(I know from experience). With an A license youll just have to make a coach jump(at least thats what my DZO told me) which isnt very expensive. So the only real decision is CAN you take that long off from jumping without suffering massive withdrawal???
  6. size means nothing(ok, well not nothing but...) without mentioning what you're loading at. Im flying a spectre 170 loaded at 1.1 and its perfect for me. If youre flying a 150 and only weigh 120(just speculating) figure 1:1 and a perfect beginner canopy for someone comfortable with it.
  7. My instructors have told me the opposite, and to not do that. Instead I was told to hang on your rear risers to level out the glide ratio to make it much flatter and you travel a lot longer. Only downside is its really tiring hanging in a half pullup for several minutes.
  8. so my friend flys a cessna 172 and I have large field on my property in the middle of nowhere I wanna jump onto. Is the 172 a good jump plane? What do I tell the pilot to do during jump run so I dont hit the tail? Should I just forget about it if hes never flown a jump run before and save me some trouble? Can he get in any trouble for doing it seeing as I own the field?
  9. maybe we should all be carrying two hookers then?
  10. So, is the double bladed rescue knife they have on para-gear that much more effective than the single bladed one? Being the same price as the sisngle blade, you'd wonder why they have both and not just the more effective one.
  11. I was just told that mine has now been delayed another 4 weeks. If not delayed again that puts me at a total of 19 or 20 weeks for delivery. That makes me sad...
  12. Im still waiting and this is the 14th week for me right now. Not sure when itll be here but I was told its expected by 4-20 so IF thats true itll be 15 weeks, I have my fingers crossed but only time will tell...
