  1. Nope. It definitely had a flaming icon thingy. I remember we had a bit of a discussion about it. On page 14 IIRC Kerry
  2. Won't jump in anything stronger than 13 - 15 knots (loading a 210 Hornet at 0.6 ). When it's windy I go backwards. Have already landed in a tree once, on my 4th jump, don't care to repeat the experience Also won't jump if the winds are very gusty. And yeah, I would probably ride the plane down if the winds suddenly got dodgy. Quite frankly, I'd rather keep both my legs intact and skydive another day. Kerry
  3. Who popped a bunny? ....... meaning .... who farted? Kerry
  4. Thanks Tonto, that's very interesting and food for thought. Kerry
  5. what does "post-apartheid" have to do with it? I've never been married, never wanted to get married, ever, but my way of thinking is changing ... rapidly. Maybe I'm growing up? Kerry
  6. I just really like that eyebrow lifting thing you got going there .... *wiggles toes* Kerry
  7. *bump* Anyone a member of a dz that is older, or the same age? (continually running, in the same location). Thanks! We are planning a huge boogie over Easter next year to celebrate, but I'd like to be sure of my facts before I broadcast it everywhere. Kerry
  8. ooooohhhh Slippery Jacks! Yummy! Do you make them with tomato, onion and garlic so that they go nice and slimy? Delicious with sadza/putu/pap which is something similar to gritz. I think. Basically a very stiff porridge made from maize meal? Replace the slippery jacks with spinach/pumpkin leaves and you've got mirogo .... yum. Takes me back to my childhood. Any Zimbabweans on this forum? Kerry
  9. It is sweet. (The subs could have done a little editing on the spelling and grammar though. *wince*) Kerry
  10. Hi all Just been reading through this thread http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?do=post_view_flat;post=265069;page=1;sb=post_latest_reply;so=ASC;mh=25; As far as I know, our club, Pietermaritzburg Parachute Club, is the oldest, or the second oldest continually running DZ in the world, operating out of the same location. We were established in 1953. Any clubs on a par, or older than that? Just curious, and also doing a bit of research for our club newsletter. Kerry
  11. um ok then ..... Kerry
  12. it's a brand new Vortex II and reserve .... If I break something, I do it properly Kerry
  13. Well, if that's the case then I'd make a terrible wife. Thank goodness for that! ok, what the hell is congress?? Kerry
  14. Cool! Wish I could say the same. I managed to drive over a truck wheel .... actually, I managed to ramp a truck wheel, travelling at 120km/h on a freeway, at night, on my way to the DZ. My little ford fiesta was actually airborne. Was rather impressed with myself that I didn't lose control though. Repair bill? R14 000. (roughly $1750). Been fighting with my insurance co for 2 1/2 weeks now. Kerry
  15. Patience - GnR ..... well, that's one of them. Faithless - Baseball cap Nickleback - this is how you remind me GnR - knockin on heaven's door Kerry
  16. you didn't have Chickypoo (tm) on there ..... now THAT is the ultimate insult .... Kerry
  17. Saw the flag in action (twice!) this weekend at the Virginia Air show - impressive stuff. Mark landed it just fine both times, basically the flag touched down, then he landed shortly after that .... Kerry
  18. I've been trying to convince Karma and Gerb to come do AFF at PPC in SA for months and months. They don't believe me when I say the weather is perfect at this time of the year, they WILL get all their jumps in! Plus the people rock! Gerb, Karma, sending you all the good vibes in the world! Your blether buddies are way proud of you! Kerry
  19. I went up in the harness this last weekend, for the first time since my FJC (July 2001!!). It was great, and I took the opportunity to ask the DZO/CI a few questions, and when he was shaking and spinning me about in the harness yelling malfunction, I realised the importance of doing the drills as calmly as possible (try not to rush them), in the correct order, leaving nothing out. While I was being spun about, and watching others in the harness, the handles were moving around, so therefore LOOK! for your handles. I havent had a mal yet, but I know I will have one - it might be my next jump, it might be in 500 jumps time. I do know that after going up in the harness on saturday, I feel better, and confident that I will perform COMPLETE reserve drills when the time comes. I'm going to try and get up in the harness more often. Kerry
  20. oky doky, my bad ....
  21. Rip, wanna join me for a ciggie? Faber's Danish, give him a break ... how's your Danish? Kerry
  22. Rip angel, i think you misunderstood Faber. I think what he's trying to say is that if you have the choice between skydiving on your own and taking responsibility for pulling that handle, or doing tandems only, and leaving the responsibility to the tandem master, and you choose to to tandems only, then you are not a skydiver. But if for some reason, you cannot do a skydive on your own, such as in your case for now, but you are still keen on the sport, and are doing tandems, then you are. I could be wrong, but that's the way I interpret it. Kerry
  23. I learned the importance of altitude awareness I've started learning how to fly in the Mantis position I've learned that I need to go and do some solo's and work on my tracking. Kerry
  24. Hi Ah it's Tuesday, and I've calmed down No, didn't get another jump in on Sunday, but I have cancelled other weekend plans to get up there and do a couple of solo's, practising my tracking! Have been thinking about getting an audible for a while now, but first I have to find something to put it in! *heads off to go helmet shopping* Kerry
  25. Thanks for that. I've got a tight suit, wear 10lbs already. I'm 1.66m short and weigh 52kg. In other words, small. What else should I be working at? Should I wear more lead? Kerry
