  1. you don't have Dinner for one on there ... oh hang on, that might be a new year's thing .... and not really a movie, but I find it hysterical. Kerry
  2. oky doky, well, I went into hospital yesterday - it wasn't too bad at all. I was wheeled down to theatre a hour early, so they wrapped me up in a warm blanky, and stuck some earphones on my head - panpipes! Needless to say, I went straight off to sleep. Next thing i know, the nurse is asking me to hop off the trolley and onto the operating table. No problemo. I was out for about 1/2 an hour, woke up in the recovery room feeling as high as a kite. A friend drove me home, where i just went straight back to sleep. I must say, it is hurting a lot more than I thought it would. But doc said the bandage can come off in about 2 weeks. what's driving me nuts is trying to do things with one hand - ever tried to put a bra on with one hand? Kerry
  3. Now why on earth would I want to do that? Thanks for the effort! Kerry
  4. Now THAT sounds like a marvellous plan! Can't wait to meet you guys Kerry
  5. *ponders a visit to Australia* You know, the thought of snapping duck poo really fascinates me for some reason Kerry
  6. Hi Erica It's really not a complicated thing. I chose Thailand over Taiwan and Japan because it's easier to organise work, from what I've heard. Basically, they like you to have some sort of tertiary education. I've got a diploma in journalism, and I'll be doing a CELTA course when I get to Bangkok. It basically teaches you how to teach English as a foreign language. If you need links for more info, pm me, I'll send them on. And as for speaking Thai? The only phrase I know is "had jai jai", which means "keep a cool heart"
  7. Hiya! I'm going to start off in Bangkok, but after that? Who knows? I do have a contact in Vietnam, so I might even end up there ... Kerry
  8. oh get over it you damn Scot!!!!! It's 6 o clock on a Friday evening and I'm on my 3rd beer (yes, sitting at work ). Spelling and grammar is the last thing on my mind!!!!! Kerry
  9. It's been on my mind for a while, but now I'm actually going with it. To be honest? I'm scared shitless. But I'm sure I'll have an absolute blast once I get there. Certainly will have lots of stories to tell around the braai (barbecue) when I eventually come back home Kerry
  10. Hey all! Well what an eventful afternoon. My life is about to change radically. Today was the day my evil bosswoman found out that I am leaving the company .... shit thing is, somebody told her before I got a chance to, and she confronted me. But at the end of the day the deed is done, and I'll still be leaving on a good note (her words). Next step? Finish my year off here .... then start off 2004 doing something completely different. Bye bye corporate bullshit Hello paradise. I'm going to Thailand indefinately to teach English. I wanted a change in my life, and change is what I'm getting. Moving to a country on the other side of the globe, on my own, and I won't know a single person. I can't wait! And McDuck .... I'll be seeing you at the Thai Boogie. And maybeGros Fion, SkyDan and all the other skydivers from that part of the world? Kerry
  11. sex life? ummmm what's that? I think I've forgotton Kerry
  12. well he did rattle off something but it went right over my head .... metalslug and dagny's explanations made more sense. Mine looks weird as well, because it's big, but it's never really bothered me. It was only when I did something stupid like attempt a press-up that it hurt, but seeing as I fall on my face anyway when I do one, it didnt' bother me much. BUt the last 2 weeks it's been a constant throbbing and I'm getting these shooting little pains down my hand, so I figured it was time to stop ignoring it. WIll let you know how it went next thursday. Check in time at the hospital 6:30 am Kerry
  13. actually, believe it or not, in a drunken state about 6 months ago, I tried the family bible trick. It hurt like hell and didn't work!!!!!! Kerry
  14. I've got one on the back of my left wrist. It's been there about a year, but lately it's been throbbing constantly. So I'm getting it chopped out on Wednesday. the good doc explained what it was, and what he was going to do to my poor wrist and how long it would take to get full use of my wrist back etc (I cant really bend it much), but when I asked what causes them, he just said "you're unlucky". Didn't seem to know. So who's had one of these things chopped out? Do they stay away? Kerry

  16. PPC is a huge part of my life. I personally battled with student progression, and one of things that has really stood out in my mind, is that from the word go, I received active encouragement and support from my jumpmasters and fellow skydivers. Sure there is always good-natured teasing, but that just makes you feel included. PPC members spend a lot of energy making students and younger skydivers feel welcome and the senior skydivers are always willing to answer endless questions. THen there are the club go-aways, and coaching weekends which inject constant enthusiasm. From a safety point of view, the landing area is huge, the gear is well maintained, and saftey standards are adhered to. Views in freefall are awesome, stretching all the way to the Drakensburg on a clear day ... But it's not only about the skydiving. It's about the people. Pop into the PPC pub any weekend, and whether there's 5 or 25 people in there, you'll have a good time. PPC rocks, and I'll miss it.

  22. I did my first 3 sec delay on jump nr 13 ... it went pearshaped from there. Off the rope. On the rope. Off the rope. On the rope. In total: 22 static lines (including the drcps) 6 x 3sec 3 x 5sec 3 x 10sec 5 x 15 sec (can you say spin??) Once I got the 15 sec right, it's been happy flying since then Kerry
  23. What is Durban, South Africa, famous for? Hmmmmm ..... it's gotta be the Durban Poison (aka mountain cabbage for those not familiar with the famed DP) Kerry
