Badass Porkchops Brine thick-cut chops in a mixture of water, brown sugar, and kosher salt for 2 hours. Then take them out of the brine, and dry them off. Coat each chop in this mixture: In a food processor, combine garlic, fresh basil leaves, and olive oil into a paste. I don't use extra virgin olive oil in this recipe. DO NOT ADD ANY SALT - that's what the brine is for. Place the chops in an oven-proof skillet that's rippin' hot, and sear them off on the stove to get some color on them. Then finish them off in the oven (300 deg.) until done to your liking. Spoon the extra pan drippings onto each one when you serve them. These are so good, you will pee down your leg when you taste 'em. Anyone who wants more details, PM me. T.I.N.S.

Jeb Corliss to Demonstrate Live on Today Show Tomorrow
Gato replied to PLFXpert's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Is this the first live coverage of a jump (during the actual fall) on national TV? I know there were jumps during the X-Games (X-Trials?) a few years ago, but I don't recall any of the jumpers talking during the actual jumps, or a live camera following them for their jump. T.I.N.S. -
The absolute killer is being taken over the edge sloooowwwlyyy. My wife (orally) can make me almost scream - and I'm a guy. Then I need 8 hours sleep and a bowl of Wheaties. T.I.N.S.

Yes. I dare say, if I'd ever openly admitted such a thing, as a guy, there would be a price on my head. T.I.N.S.

With all due respect, this is an incorrect assumption, and in saying so, you have revealed that you may not understand the male mind. T.I.N.S.

This is actually pretty simple - you have offered him the "perfect arrangement", in that you have not yet tried to tie him down, and you don't demand much of his time, and offer him sex without any apparent emotional attachment. The fact is that women are far more in touch with themselves emotionally than men are (probably not news to you.) The word "love" has so many meanings for so many different people, but for some of us the word is synonymous with the word "commitment." Would I be correct in assuming you're both in your early 20s? There's nothing wrong with wanting to be loved. He wants to be loved as well, but since there is no pressure on him to express that specific emotion to you, he may not do it for a while. Or ever. I don't mean to sound negative, but you asked. You say you don't want to be married yet, or even have to see someone every day. I would ask you, if you could see him every day, would you? Ask yourself, if you think you love him, why do you love him. It's still very early in your relationship, and if you think about it, you do have a pretty good arrangement. It wiil change, like all things do. If he becomes your best friend, and you become his, you have at least a fighting chance of making it, should you get married. My personal philosophy for choosing the right person is that it must be someone you'd want to hang out with, even if you weren't having sex. I wish you the best. Gato T.I.N.S.

No, this isn't a thread about heart-shaped farts. I just delivered a dozen peach-colored roses to my wife's desk, while she's away on her lunch break. Thankfully most of her coworkers know me, and weren't too freaked about some guy arranging flowers. Think she'll dig it? Happy V-Day everybody. Hope you all get some. Flowers. T.I.N.S.

Thanks for the ideas, Alex. As a matter of fact, the first volume will include all that "boring" stuff, and basic intro to chord theory. The second volume will be advanced lead techniques and advanced chord theory. Per your suggestion, I'll include more creativity-boosting stuff. This is really helpful, as I'm getting perspectives of players at all levels. I can promise you all this won't look like a homemade video - the production quality is very important to me. It will not look like the vids most of us saw in our FJC!! T.I.N.S.

Tell you what, Jack - as soon as I'm able, I'll figure it out and hook you up. We will kill that damn tapping lick. T.I.N.S.

Good suggestion - thanks! And yeah, Guthrie is a complete bad ass. Like John Petrucci with a bit more blues sensibility. T.I.N.S.

A grocery list with "maxi pads" as the first entry. T.I.N.S.

That's why I'll be launching a website at the same time the DVD is released, and excerpts from it will be available for preview. Owners of the DVD will be able to contact me directly with questions, as well. I do get where you're coming from, but I charge $17.50 for a half hour of private instruction, and the cost of the DVD will be around 25 bucks. Well worth it, I assure you. I did not start this thread to convince you to buy my stuff - and I don't have time to refute everyone who thinks things like this should be free. If you have ideas about what would work well, I'm listening, but all you seem to be saying is why it won't work. You have to pay for good instruction, no matter what field you're talking about (Hello, packing videos.) If you like learning on YouTube, go for it. If history is any indication, someone will hack the anti-copy encryption, and it will end up there anyway in a year or so. T.I.N.S.

Huh? What is an edeo? Guitar Hero won't win you a Grammy. I couldn't agree more. You are the kind of player I'm doing this for, Dave. This will not be a DVD that teaches you how to play songs. It's going to be a tool you can use to improve your skills, should you choose to. And no, it's not going to be free. T.I.N.S.

I'm about to start shooting an instructional guitar DVD, and I'd like some opinions from those of you who play lead, or want to. It's going to be geared toward the beginner to intermediate player, or those seeking to escape a "rut." There will be a theory section, and a breakdown of fundamental soloing techniques, as well as some cool stuff I've developed over the years to save players time and pain. I have about 80% of the script written. So here's my question: What would you most like to see in an instructional DVD for electric guitar? Notice I didn't ask for what kind of porn you'd like to see - that's going to be on the second volume. T.I.N.S.

Great, great grinder for the money: Hamilton Beach Custom Deluxe. My wife and I use it every day with our press. Works great - set it & forget it. T.I.N.S.

I see this dynamic all the time with my (music) students - I've come to believe that it's mostly about patience, and the attention span of the modern human. Everybody wants to be "done" (as quoted by Brian Germain). It's too much effort for them to take their time and learn the correct technique correctly, and little baby steps toward an ultimate goal is more than some peoples' short attention spans will allow. Martial arts training is a good idea - but there isn't enough time right now for him to learn what he needs to handle this bully. Here's a radical suggestion: The three of you (Mother, Father, Son) trot down to the neighbor kid's house with 2 pairs of boxing gloves on saturday morning (during the bully's cartoon time). Have your son openly challenge the bully to a fight in your backyard. My dad did this with me when I was 6, and the two of us kids just wailed on each other for about 10 minutes. We never fought again. The fact that your son is younger, your husband is the father's boss, and that all your cards are on the table may be a bit of a wake-up call for them. Plus, the embarassment of other neighbors observing may get the bully into more hot water with his parents. Just my .02. I DID eventually get martial arts training in the 3rd grade, and like others here, it did a world of good. Avoid aggressive, brutal styles, though. Think Aikido, Ju Jitsu, or Wing Chun. Good mental and physical stuff in those. T.I.N.S.

If Only Opportunities Like This Happened All the Time...

Billy, I've been wanting to ask you about this for a while, now..... My middle name is Vance, after my grandfather, Ralph Vance. My family is from east Texas. It scares me a little to ask, but do you think there's any possibility we're related? Got any kinfolk in TX? T.I.N.S. -

Yeah, so did I. I can't say I don't like the paint job on the hearse, but the noob in me says, "Don't go to sleep in a hearse." T.I.N.S. -

Just saw this while I was surfing craigslist - I can't think of a more appropriate way to head to Florida in style. Seriously, check it out. http://kansascity.craigslist.org/rid/566342729.html T.I.N.S. -
Nice! I hope I get to buy my wife a parachute some time soon! T.I.N.S.

Yeah, she's fantastic. Believe it or not, every man who has married into her family has received a t-shirt or sweat shirt that reads, "Damn Lucky." True story. The thing is, I may be the only one who is actually damn lucky - most of her female relatives are absolutely wacko. T.I.N.S.

Just celebrated 10 years on November 21st! I feel VERY fortunate to be with someone like her - we're both geeks, yet sexy. Seriously, she paid for my FJC awhile back, even though she has no interest in jumping (YET). So I gave her fencing lessons for one of her anniversary gifts. T.I.N.S.
