That was from a bad batch of capewell pins, and there was a test that was done with the pins to determine if they were bad or not. If you search the forum for "capewell", I'm sure you'll find a lot about it. Yeah, it's scary. So's pictures of incorrectly closed reserve containers or closing pins set in a way that would make a pull hard or impossible. I think the bonfire must be the best place to post this, as it's related to bonfires. This is my PD 9-cell. Can anyone help me get it in the air again, it got slightly damaged during the end-of-the-year party. I think the flare is completely gone from it, but that was the case before the damage ocurred during the party. Oh, I'm desperate... Hentai is pornographic manga, tentacle porn would just be a sub genre. Studied for some months in japan, and found grown up, otherwise serious looking men reading it on the underground trains. Lots of really crazy stuff, no limits when they're drawing. Old classics like things involving girls in school uniforms and nurses blended with weirder stuff. Aaaaaaah! Panic! lol! We had a harder time getting the old PD 9-cell to burn, even soaked in jet fuel, than I have getting a snippet of "I dunno what it's made from, but it's definetely not silk like they said it was"-fabric to burn. So I suppose the parachutes are treated with some kind of anti-flammable stuff. But salt is antiflammable, and this old canopy was probably covered in old sweat... packer's sweat. Thanks! I'll research tri fold seams. I've only made dresses and aprons and things like that before, nothing made to withstand 120 mph. I'll ask my friend to lend me his jumpsuit. I'm sure he won't need it while he has his reserve repacked. Well, the jumpsuits have to come from somewhere. Someone at some point designed them, and not surprisingly those people were skydivers. Would be fun to see how different fabrics affect my fall rate but some of the synthetic fabrics I have are really flammable, so definetely not those:-) Relax, you can die if you mess up, but it will probably not be by bullet. So it's quite hard, then? I'll look at the thread. I use an ordinary nylon thread, Gutermann, for other things that I make, but I'll probably have to use something tougher for a jumpsuit. Anything catastrophic that I should by all means not do? I'm planning on keeping it simple, without a lot of pockets and stuff. Well, maybe this should be moved to the bonfire along with the waffle threads, but: My sewing machine sews straight through thick velcro! And there are shops that sells lots of different types of fabric close to where I live. Good idea to sew my own jumpsuit? I was thinking of a freefly suit with only a little drag, so the others don't just fall away from me. ("help! wait!, stop, stop! where are you going?") Anything in particular I have to keep in mind, except that it has to be solid, not too baggy and free of snag points? Anyone who has any good patterns or tutorials that they want to share?

Well, I haven't done anything really, really stupid yet. I mean, apart from jumping out of a perfectly good airplane. Repeatedly. But I'm sure I'll get plenty of chances in the spring. The scary thing is that these people who do these horrible mistakes skydiving, are the same people who drive around on normal roads in normal cars making the world unsafe for other people. But as all people are likely to make mistakes, no one is safe. And it doesn't help to stay indoors behind closed doors. That just leads to heart disease... Well, oh, and the canopy I'm getting in the spring isn't that big. But if it is stupid, we'll see then. Great Thread, BTW!

Well, don't listen to me, I'm just a newbie myself, but this has been discussed a lot on the forum here. do a search on "falling out of rig". I suggest you talk to your instructor. He'll be able to explain it to you. By all means, read up on the dangers of skydiving, and learn about what can keep you safe, but don't forget to have fun. Blues!
