What kind of aircraft??? are you doing a "poised exit " from a step?? or a seated exit? Quote Well, Bill Dause (Parachute Center) has a few planes. Not sure which one we will be going in. We will be standing from what I hear. Hands at the top opening of the plane door, head back, let go and fall out. As far as arching, i have no problem here being an X-Gymnast...I can arch. DAMN....is it Thursday Yet! I'm ready now. No Worries, You're Good! -
Is static line any fun?

It's a great way to learn the sport without having to spend over $100 per jump. Quote You are telling me. I was spendig $100 each tandem, plus $55 for a video, tipping the TM $20 and CM $10-20 per jump. Basically, $200 each time. The course is $500 for 10 jumps and a lot of learning. Then $35 a jump thereafter to jump solo and that includes renting the equipment. I realized right away that my wanting to skydive had to get cheaper before I went broke. I spent $1300 in less than two months doing tandem jumps. Plus another $800 because my hubby starting doing it too. We are both doing the course this Thursday to save our bank account and feed our desire (addiction) to skydive. Nichole {edited for spelling} No Worries, You're Good! -

Oh I'm afraid of 3000k or less. I want to stick to doing high elevation free fall jumps after I get my license. But who knows, time and experience might put me in other directions! Thanks for the information. I sure hope I get my license soon. Nichole No Worries, You're Good! -

ecll, Hey thanks for the information. Line twists sound alarming, however I get your point. I think I'd rather experience a small degree of certain things like this in the beginning. It can only prove to build your skills for later. Again thanks! Nichole No Worries, You're Good! -

Cool. I will listen to the instructor 200% (if that's possible). My attitude is complete excitement about skydiving. It is all I think about since I started doing it. I was a just a little leary about how a static line jump would feel like. Thanks for the advice and the words of wisdom. Happy & Safe Skydiving! Nichole No Worries, You're Good! -
Is static line any fun?

Hello all, My two day course starts this Thursday. I have had 7 tandem jumps from 13k, however the course will be a series of 10 all solo jumps. We will start with 3-4 static lines starting at 4k and going up. Then we will move to free fall series from 6 - 13k for the last 6-7 jumps. Being as how I have never done a static line, will it being any fun at all? I know it will be a 2-3 second fall and immediately the chute opens and you guide yourself to the LZ. Anyone have static line experience, words of wisdom so I know what to expect. Is it gonna suck? Hey Thanks for any info! {edited for spelling} No Worries, You're Good! -
Thanks for the advice. Being as I have been to the DZ 6 times I know their beer of choice (because the outside garbage barrels are full to the brim with empty beer bottles every Sat / Sun morning I have been there.) Fortunately for me it's the beer I drink! I will bring a case of beer...make that 2 cases because there are three of us taking the course and we'll want to drink beer with them afterwards I can't wait until September 14th and my first solo, ok well it's static line, but what the hell, there won't be anyone on my back Skydiving rocks and has changed my outlook on everything. Eveyone at my local DZ you rock! Happy and Fun skydiving! No Worries, You're Good!

Ok I need to jump in here too and get some advice. I went tandem jumping with videos 6 times. ( I know go through the course!) I am signed up for the course September 14th. Anyhow, EACH time I went I gave the TM $20 and the video person $10 or $20 depending on how good I thought he/she was. Now I am going through a a two day, ten jump course from 9:00-6:00 each day. What would be appropriate here for tipping?? Also, I didn't think about tipping the packers, of course, I didn't know where they were either. They weren't in plain view. Thanks for any advice you can give me. No Worries Nikky No Worries, You're Good!

Hey Ryan, Welcome to the addiction. I did 6 tandem jumps in about a 5 week period July / August. I am scheduled to go through the course two weeks from today. Two long weeks. It only takes one tandem jump to get you hooked. Enjoy and good luck to you on getting certified! NoWorriesNikky No Worries, You're Good!

You got it! I made a note of the dz you mention. Glad to hear it's possible to get a job. I know there are restrictions on coming from the states over to live in Australia and New Zealand. However, I am doing my research. Skydiving has got me so jazzed, my husband and I are considering selling our house to move over there and get jobs and skydive in your beautiful country. We are so hooked and I would like to work towards being a camera person. Will be awhile before I have enough experience, but a goal is a goal! Thanks for you reply and happy and safe jumping! Jeff, It's nice to know that I am not alone. After my first tandem jump on a Sunday, all I talked and thought about was skydiving. My husband couldn't understand, so he finally went with the following weekend. Needless, to say I have 6 tandem jumps and my husband has 4 and we start the course on September 14th. I ask myself all week long....is it Saturday yet? I have to at least get one more tandem in, because I just can't wait until September 14th. Good luck to you and enjoy! Nikky No Worries, You're Good!

Hello Everyone! I wanted to introduce myself and say hi. I started doing tandem jumps in Lodi, CA in July and have been 6 times. Yeay, I know get certified! So I am going through the course mid September. I am extremely enthusiastic about skydiving and the people you meet are great! Any advice? Hope to see all you locals in Lodi! Nichole No Worries, You're Good! -
I recently made my first tandem jump at the Parachute Center July 2006 and proceeded to do a total of 6 tandem jumps in a 5 week period. The place pulls you in and you want to keep coming back. I will be going to get certified in September and can't wait to be back in the atmosphere and on my way into skydiving solo. You will truly enjoy your experience here. The staff and the hanger full of miscolored catches adds to the experience. If you get the chance, you must stop in and jump, whether it's your 1st jump or 3000 jump.
