I think the worst part for my girls is to have to be "straightened out" in front of people. They tend to behave remarkably well in public. I don't have a problem with letting them know they are doing something wrong.

It's weird being nervous as crap and wondering if I can really do this and then not being able to jump and being upset because I can't. So, I'm nervous when I am about to jump and then disappointed when I can't!

Tell us a little about yourself.

Actually I did spend the whole day there and watched them pack. So it wasn't wasted time. I'm just thinking if the weather isn't good enough this weekend then I will have to repeat my Cat A. Like I never jumped. I did I great job. Just wanted to advance!

the wind. I was not able to jump this past weekend because of it!

It's different for everyone. I have been married for almost 14 years and I am 36. I wouldn't have it any other way. I have a twin who has never been married and I don't think he ever should get married. HE'S still too young, if you know what I mean. My two cents worth.

My thoughts exactly. I used to work in food service also!

Then you have me beat. I couldn't get above 228!

My mother did this just a few weeks ago. She had a blast and said that she really has not desire to do any more jumps! Just her opinion!

How far from your hometown do you currently live?

My father spent 31 years in the Military. I am married to a Military man that has 22 years in. So to answer your question...........I was born and raised less then 20 miles from where I live now! We have never had to make a move. Lucky me, I love Virginia! -
I love Steve Irwin! This was great. Thanks for posting!

I do love story problems but my second grader has a real hard time with them!

I bought 15 min worth of tunnel time. I split that time with my husband and daughter. So they rotated us for 2 1/2 minutes each to give us a total of 15 minutes. I could have taken the entire 15 for myself but I choose to "share" my time with them. If there is no one else to share your time with then they will have other people in there that they will rotate you out with. But you will still get your 15 minutes to yourself. They will not have you fly for 15 minutes straight. We did have an instructor that was with us the entire time. They taught us things such as fall rate, forward and back movement, slides, and turns. And most of all how to be stable during freefall. I do recommend the tunnel if you have access to one. I am glad I do not have one closer to me because I am afraid I would not have enough money to jump! I hope this helps. We did purchase a video of the entire time we were in there and it was only $5. Not sure if the prices are the same everywhere. Good luck! Oh, the one thing that scares me on a jump is the canopy ride. The tunnel is no help with that what-so-ever. But I felt very confident during freefall. I credit the tunnel for that.

When did you stop being nervous?
cjsgrlsx3 replied to Thomsen91's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I would have to say that I was nervous enough that I was hoping that I would not be able to jump the day I took my AFF 1 course. Which was just last week. The winds were too high and I had to come back the next day. So Sunday I showed up to jump and did not feel as nervous. Things went really well. Then I went out yesterday and was not able to jump because of the winds again. But I really wanted to jump. The ride to the dropzone is the worst. I wish I could go to sleep on the way there. One time I almost did turn around. But I would have to say that seeing my instructors out there yesterday and hearing them say that they could be there for me my second jump is reasurring. They saw my video from the first jump and said I did a great job. So for me, I get really nervous on the way out there but things calm down when training starts. I hope it never goes away but hope it gets easier. I am most afraid of screwing up. -
My birthday is Saturday so I am hoping to go out there but it all depends on the weather. I was thinking of taking a packing course if it is too cold. You know, I'd like to learn as much as possible! But I should be there this weekend. West Point sounded too good to you guys this past weekend, huh? The jump of mine you filmed I was with Mr. Hollywood! (Don) Cassandra

I would only assume this is the same Miami that does video at Suffolk. I just have to say, "Your work kicks ass!" I was looking for you this weekend to do my first AFF. Josh did it and did a great job. Liz says that your digi makes everyone else look bad!

Thanks! I did read your thread. I have followed your posts because I was in Florida just recently and knew you were starting out and was interested in how well you were doing........I will pull if left out there! As far as a DZ in Suffolk...it is located at the Suffolk Executive Airport. Not the one you would see from the interstate. A little further down. It is a nice one. The people are great and all. There is also a DZ at West Point which I have made one trip to.I have never jumped there though. They are not too far past Busch Gardens. They are great people also. I choose Suffolk because it is closer to my dad. If you ever make it back up here maybe I'll see you around.

They said I did a great job! I do not have to repeat my jump. My next jump is a Cat B. I just need to flair a bit more for landing. My instructors told my husband that I did awesome. So I guess I just have to read the SIMS on Cat B and I am on my way. Hopefully I will feel as comfortable doing my Cat B as my Cat A. We will see!

It does get better! I have tried to prepare myself for this since June. I did 6 tandems and then 30 minutes worth of tunnel time! Gosh it was all worth it just knowing that I felt prepared. Now is the first time I have really considered myself a skydiver! Hopefully I will have my A by the summer!

Jumped this weekend at Suffolk and had a blast! On to Cat B! My landing was a little off but the freefall was great! Thanks to everyone out at Suffolk, VA!

I pick my daughter up one day and her teacher say to me, "Sami got a strike today because she was being disrespectful." Really, what did she do? Well, she is making fun of my name and it hurt my feelings. I'm about to burst out laughing when she tells me that my daughter said she had rice this morning for breakfast and the teacher's name is Ms. Rice. Did I mention that my daughter is in the 2nd grade?

new jumper in Santa Barbara

I will start my AFF next weekend. I have done 6 tandems only because of the worries of the AFF. During Christmas break my daughter and I shared 30 minutes worth of time in the tunnel. I can not tell you how glad I am that we spent the money to do that. It was not required but when I told my instructor we were going, he was happy and said that it was very good training. He was right. If you have the money to do some tunnel work then I say go ahead. Maybe wait until you see what you have to work on first before you go in. Give yourself a few jumps then do the tunnel. Good luck and have fun! -
Pretty good! Looking forward to AFF soon.

It's not just you. I checked with DFAS and ours is a little more then we thought too. Good Luck and have fun!

I say don't sweat it, it will work itself out. If anything it will leave you a little short next paycheck (they always take it back quicker then they pay you). You know your rent will be paid. If they stopped your allotment it would have said on there. I wouldn't worry. Makes me think I should check mine!
