Thanks for the offer! It would be very cool to have some external input to our competition. As you can see we are still very new at ws camera flying, so any help would be appreciated. Wingsuit South Africa -
The First South African Aerobatic Wingsuit Competition
xwind replied to xwind's topic in Wing Suit Flying
The First South African Aerobatic Wingsuit Competition was held on 1 May 2007 at Pretoria Skydiving Club. The competition rules can be obtained here: www.wingsuitsa.za.net The competition was included as a demo event as part of our National Skydiving competition. The aim of the competition was to test the viability of including an official Wingsuit Competition in our nationals. Competition -The competition was held over 4 rounds. -The competition rounds only focused on simple aerobatic moves. -Three teams entered. -The jump ship was a King Air B90. -Judging was done by a team of local judges. Results -The competition went well. -No safety issues besides a couple of very long spots. -It was possible to judge the footage and score teams. -The event was a success. -Wingsuiting in South Africa was promoted by the event Things to improve -Competition rules must be modified to define a dock as a stable grip or something similar. -We need to work on our barrel rolls. -Experiment with camera flying position to improve footage. -Try and do the competition from a Porter next time. -Ask for a separate run-in, flying the pattern back to the dz makes it difficult to focus on the routine. -Competition routines can be made more complicated as the skill of the pilots improve. -We welcome your suggestions to improve the competition. Video Video available at: http://www.skydivingmovies.com/ver2/pafiledb.php?action=file&id=5685 File name: SA_ws_comp_May07_xvid.avi The video shows some of the competition rounds. The video is encoded with xvid (get it here http://www.xvidmovies.com/codec/) Wingsuit South Africa -
About 250 people registered. What is the lift capacity of the AN72 in terms of jumpers per hour? Wingsuit South Africa

Hello, How many people are currently registered for AN72? How many people in total expected on the DZ? Wingsuit South Africa

Yes! well said. Hang time and distance are individual events. I get bored when I fly alone. And you cant practice this in a wind tunnel so we can compete on an equal basis. Looking forward to jumping with you guys at Schaffen! Wingsuit South Africa

Cool idea. We can definitely use that to judge the free round. Wingsuit South Africa

We have only a few aerobatic wingsuit pilots in South Africa, but enough I hope to put together a competition. The aerobatic moves proposed in the document are easy to judge. We have added one free round that will be difficult to judge but we figure we can learn from that. Do the routines, post the video. Wingsuit South Africa

We want to organise a Wingsuit Competition as part of the South African National skydiving championships. We have decided that it should be an aerobatic competition. The reason is that it is easier to judge and not as equipment dependent as distance or hang time. Please download the competition document from www.wingsuitsa.za.net and give us some feedback. If you don’t want to see the website use this direct link: www.wingsuitsa.za.net/newsimages/ws.pdf Wingsuit South Africa

A group of 11 South Africans are planning to attend the AN72 boogie. We are experiencing difficulties organizing our trip. We need help with the following: Accommodation We need to confirm a hotel booking for 11 people. Since we will be traveling with one car it will be a problem if we stay in more than one hotel. I can not contact the Big Moon Hotel since they have no email and I can not get through on their international number (the number stays engaged). We will need help making the hotel booking can someone please assist us or put us into contact with someone who can. Payment of boogie registration We can not pay the boogie registration because of exchange control issues in South Africa. In order for us to meet the exchange control regulations the boogie organizers must issue an invoice for the boogie registration in each persons name. Emails to the event organizers yielded no results. Wingsuit South Africa

Hello I am interested in attending the AN72 boogie. Some questions -Are the dates finalized, if so what are they. -What is the best way to get to the dz (fly to xxx and then hire car, take train etc) -What accommodation is available near / on the dz and what is the cost -How many organized jumps will be done over the boogie. -Since I will be visiting Europe for the first time please suggest some other boogies / dz’s that I should visit. Thanks Bernard. Wingsuit South Africa

In that case, expect my order. Wingsuit South Africa

Get a Pilot. I have done about 350 WS jumps on Pilots. Currently jump a 132 wl about 1.5 It is a very nice canopy. If you wingsuit you will have the occasional long spot Pilot (9 cell) has a good glide to get you back. Pilots also have soft, on-heading openings and nice landings. New Pilots are a biatch to pack.
