It's different systems that keep breaking. The $400 was for 2 new engine fans that died. The $110 was for new spark plugs and gaskets. The overall condition isn't that good. I'll ask him but I doubt it.

I owe just a little under $2K for the car. There is no way I could get close to that much for it now. Technically it was totalled when I got rearended a little over a year ago (frame got bent). I figure absolute best case scenario I could get $500 for it...but even that may be a stretch of the imagination with the amount of work it needs done (not counting this latest issue). ETA...and yes I depend on my car. I commute about 25 miles each way to work. And there are no bus routes that run between where I live and work.

When the fuck did you get friends? I know you're living off ramen and mac&cheese now... How long are you still on your lease at the apt? I know you HATE roomates, but it might be worth getting a 2 bed/bath apt and sharing the bills. Even the Can-Asian would be a good choice (so long as you lock up your booze) Lease is up at the end of October. I've already had offers from 2 friends (Yes, I do in fact have friends ) to come live with them. I know the one would save me about $100 a month in rent and bills. Haven't gotten a rent price from the other. @AggieDave....I spend all of my free time during the week at home alone to save money (went out last night for the first time in 3 months, spent a whole $7. Going to the DZ doesn't count as going out since I go there to work and on the very rare occasion jump just to keep what little sanity I have left.) So yes, I need cable and internet, I would go INSANE without it. Actually, cable is included in my rent so all I'm paying for is the internet. As far as the gym membership, I've thought about cancelling it to save the $20 a month, but I don't have the $75 early termination fee required. I pinch the pennies everywhere I can think to. Lately the ONLY reason I've been going out to eat when at the DZ is because people offer to buy my dinner. If it weren't for that I'd be eating nothing but pop-tarts while there. The only food I have in my apartment right now is a huge bag of frozen chicken that I got for $25 the other day. Haven't even bought beer in over a month.

So I'm very quickly running out of options when it comes to my car. It's rapidly falling apart. I had to get $400 worth of work 3 weeks ago (borrowed the money from an amazingly great friend), yesterday put another $110 into it and now it's acting up again. (Mind you I have a friend who is a mechanic at the dealership and does all this work just for the cost of parts. These prices are not including labor.) It's a 2000 Nissan Altima with 192K miles on it, and I still have 14 payments left on it (I'm so upside down on this car it's not even funny). I can't afford to keep putting money into it. The $110 I spent yesterday has left me wonding if I'll have enough gas money to get me to payday. If it dies I can't afford a 2nd car payment. Plus, I don't think I could even get a car loan thanks to being completely screwed over by a friend I tried to help 3 years ago (lesson of the day: NEVER EVER UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES co-sign on a car for a friend. It will get repoed and your credit will get F*ed). So right now short of winning the lottery I don't know what else I can do. Any suggestions?

Ask around. You'll find that MOST everyone at your DZ and on here had to repeat levels. It's not that uncommon. Don't be so hard on yourself. But it does truely worry me that you're even CONSIDERING jumping this weekend. I have spent many a days on the ground in beautiful weather watching people jump when I couldn't for one reason or another. There is still a lot you can learn by just sitting there and listening to peoples stories. So it's not a hinderance at all for you to not be able to jump. Just see it as a chance to get some good ground training in one form or another.

Coach Jumps on a Boogie Weekend [Eloy]?
iluvtofly replied to AdrianGlave's topic in Events & Places to Jump
What boogie and DZ? -
This comment REALLY scares me. You obviously don't understand that you can EASILY injure yourself more and cause permenant damage. Which would you prefer? Risk serious injury and possibly even paralysis? Or wait a few weeks, heal properly and finish you AFF then? If you chose A then I don't want to be in the air with you because you obviously don't understand the risks.
-
Sounds to me like you should hold off on jumping for a bit. I completely understand wanting to get done with AFF. But the sky will always be there. You don't want to risk serious/permenant injury because you were impatient do you? And go to the damn doctor now!!!!!! Don't wait to see if it gets better or worse. The back is one of those areas you really don't want to mess around with.

Good Luck Spot! Hope you're back in the air soon!

I'll play the old fuddy duddy. If it's done for humor and the student understands its humor, no big deal. But, if the student is actually caused to be more fearful, and really believes she is in more danger because of the joke, then that goes over the line. We shouldn't be terrorizing students for our personal amusement. Give us some credit. After looking at some of the other tandem hanesses she realized what he had done. He got a good punch in the arm for it.
-
TI talking to student, "If you see him (points to vidiot) everything is going as planned. If you see anyone else here, something's a little wrong but it'll be alright. If you see me, well, something went REALLY wrong and you're kinda screwed."
-
Oh yeah, actually saw a student almost cry with this one on Saturday. Another instructor looks over, grabs one of the hooks that is snapped back, he simply unsnapped it but every skydiver around just gave a look of shear terror. The girl, thinking the harness is now broken starts freaking out as the TI pretends like he's trying to fix the now "broken" harness.
-
As a packer once a TI brought the student over pointed at me and said, "She's your best friend for the next 10 minutes, that's out parachute she's packing." I looked at the TI and said, "I tried a couple new things, let me know if they work." One of my other favorites is talking to the TI with the student close enough to hear, "Now don't lose this one. We still haven't found your last student. And if you lose 1 more you can't jump for the rest of the day."

Hahahahahaha....not sure if he'll get the cover but he'll get to play at the Rolling Stone Rock Room.

A good friend of mine in Atlanta who I have done a bit of promo work for is an amazing musician and has been entered in a contest for Rolling Stone Magazine. Please go vote for Wesley Cook. http://www.rollingstone.com/sprintstreet/artists/wesley-cook They have a clip of one of his songs on the page. If you want to hear more of his music just look him up on YouTube or his website www.wesleycook.com. You can't help but be in a good mood when listening to his music. He is easily one of the nicest most caring guys I have ever met. And ladies....he's not to bad on the eyes.

Helmets required That is because of the driver. Oooooo...you are in sooooooo much trouble. Well... she has spent all of her life riding around in one... its only natural progression to end up driving it. That's it...next time I'm driving the bus and you guys try to get on you have to sit on the roof!!!! And that's only IF I'm in a good mood. Catch me in a bad mood and you're hoofing it to the airport. -
