A buddy of mine lost one of his boys in a motorcycle accident...brake lever reached out and grabbed him! He was called Uno after that... Chris Burn the land and boil the sea, You can't take the sky from me.

Dustin, I'll post this on some local motorcycle forums if it's OK with you...got a pretty big network of riders here in Denver! Hope you get your bike back... Chris Burn the land and boil the sea, You can't take the sky from me.

I'd heard vague stories about the bridge right up until I left Precision in 1993! Never heard any real details about it though. Chris Burn the land and boil the sea, You can't take the sky from me.

Mountain Air Express is long gone. They filed Chapter 11 back in '97 or so, and shut down not long after that if I remember correctly. Not sure what happened to their planes... As far as I know, there's few if any Dornier 228's left in the states... Chris Burn the land and boil the sea, You can't take the sky from me.

Katee, I think you're thinking of the Dornier 328. An airline called Mountain Air Express used to fly them out here...pic from airliners.net below. I was offered a job with them back in 1996 or so, but turned them down. Little did I know then that I'd leave the airlines to come to Denver the next year! D-228's have square, not round, fuselages... Chris Burn the land and boil the sea, You can't take the sky from me.

Awesome, Howard! Yep, I knew both Nate and Mike. Nate was seniority #1 in the pilot pool, and Mike did most of the fabric work on the 228's. Great guys. I worked there from 1987 - 1993. I even got to go to Nate's farm once. I still keep in touch with a couple of friends from the RP days. Lots of great memories from back then. Precision was still basically a family airline, Walt and Suki (the owners) were there, and we could talk with them about anything. Good people. I started out fueling a/c, and left there as a flight follower. And did almost everything else in between: ramp, CS, helped out the maintenance guys...even got to fly the 228s a few times on ferry flights, which was a lot of fun for a lowly 150 hour pilot! The Otters and -18's were gone before I was there, but we did have Beech 99's. Thanks for the pictures and memories! Chris Burn the land and boil the sea, You can't take the sky from me.

Welcome, David! I work with some folks down in Melbourne...been trying to get a trip there, but they keep coming to the States! I'm not giving up... Chris Burn the land and boil the sea, You can't take the sky from me.

This is going way back, but thought I'd ask... During the late 80's-early 90's I worked for Precision Airlines, based in Manchester, NH. A couple of times during the summer we leased out one of our a/c for jump weekends. I think they were out of Pepperell, MA. We'd even haul a fuel truck there to take care of the a/c. I never had the seniority to go, but always volunteered! The tail #'s would have been N228-245RP, and most likely painted in either purple and gold Precision Airlines, or Eastern Express colors...there's a few pics from Airliners.net attached. Maybe this will stir up some old memories! Chris Burn the land and boil the sea, You can't take the sky from me.

Congrats, April! I hope I do that well on my AFF! Welcome to the forums... Chris Burn the land and boil the sea, You can't take the sky from me. -
I'll give them some peanuts for you, Lisa... Chris Burn the land and boil the sea, You can't take the sky from me.

We've got them too, but I like them. We put out peanuts for them, and they can have all the birdseed they want to steal. They drive our cat Rusty nuts. He sits there and chatters at them, but the squirrels couldn't care less. I guess they know Rusty can't get them easily. Chris Burn the land and boil the sea, You can't take the sky from me.

Nice job, Katee! Being new to the sport, the details you provided about the decision process and what you tried to do before your cutaway really helped me understand what went wrong, and how you came to your decision. Nice too that you were able to work with the Mikes to troubleshoot the situation. Sounds like there were three cool heads up there! Thanks for all the info... How about bright colors? I'm not much of an artist, but I like the idea of high visibility... Chris Burn the land and boil the sea, You can't take the sky from me.

I forgot to add Dropkick Murphys to my list! I'm planning on being in Boston for St. Paddy's next year. I'll see them at least once while I'm there...but hopefully, they'll hit Denver before then! Doubt it since they are touring Canada (with Bad Religion!) and the UK through November. Chris Burn the land and boil the sea, You can't take the sky from me.

I was born and raised in Pennsylvania, and lived in NH, VA, and now CO since then. New Hampshire feels most like home to me, even though I only lived there for eight years. I'm not sure why; I just kinda feel like that's where I'm from. Most of my friends from PA have moved away, but almost all of our parents still live there (at least half the year - snowbirds), so we keep in touch or see each other occasionally. I get back to PA about once a year, but while it's familiar and I know where everything is, it just doesn't feel like home to me. NH does... I'm allergic to cats too. But I've had the same one for 17 years now, and we have a second one (Maine Coon cat), and neither of them cause me major problems. Both shed, but we brush the Maine Coon cat every day, and that helps. He loves the attention, and we don't have to vacuum as much either! The only time I really have problems is if I get a cat hair in my eyes. I take allergy meds maybe once a month max because of the cats, though I do use eye drops more often. I'd say to keep the cat and see what happens... Chris Burn the land and boil the sea, You can't take the sky from me.

My favorite wings aren't in Denver, but Aurora at Woody's Wings. It's at Buckley and Mexico, near the AFB. Over on my side of town, we've gone to a wing place (Wingin' It?) at County Line and Quebec in Englewood/Centennial, in the Safeway strip mall. Woody's is far better, but the other one has deep fried Twinkies and candy bars for dessert! Deep fried Twinkies must be an acquired taste, and I'm not there yet... That's exactly what happened with our group. We started out with a dozen people from work. When it was time to commit to jumping, only three of us actually went. Their loss! Chris Burn the land and boil the sea, You can't take the sky from me. -
Welcome to Colorado! I just did my first jump out of Mile Hi in Longmont last weekend, so I can't comment on what's best. But I had a great experience there. The folks there were friendly, we didn't have to wait long for our plane, and I got a pretty good feeling about the place. I'm planning on doing my AFF there. Longmont is about an hour's drive from Englewood. I found this list right here on DZ: http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/dropzone/page.cgi?g=North+America/United+States/Colorado Oh yeah, there's a tunnel in Lone Tree which is right next to Englewood... Cool! I was thinking of riding up there this weekend for a couple of hours to watch and learn. You'll have a blast! Chris Burn the land and boil the sea, You can't take the sky from me.
