What is ludicrous is your inability to understand that a Federal holiday pertaining to a particular religion is both an aid and a preference to one religion over another. So, prove it, then. Prove how giving someone a day off "aids" a religion. Do you honestly not understand how it aids a particular religion? It also clearly shows a preference ... That's because I'm not insane. Also, I've backed up my claims, you haven't. You're right about one thing (and one thing only), I don't know anything about whether you practice any religion at all so ... don't worry about admitting you're wrong because I know you can't because it will destroy your fragile reality. Yes, a public holiday is an aid. Wait all you want because I'm done dealing with a troll ... "That looks dangerous." Leopold Stotch

Holidays aren't the purpose of the amendment - try again. No, you try again. I've shown you a law ... ... which aids one religion (Christianity). "That looks dangerous." Leopold Stotch

You still haven't responded about Christmas being a federal holiday. Why aren't there any other religious Federal holidays? I'm waiting ... "That looks dangerous." Leopold Stotch

Good post. After all, we don't want to see the same trends with wingsuit upsizing as we do with canopy downsizing (in regards to accidents) ... PS: I was actually going to purchase a Vampire III recently but decided to put a couple hundred more on my Phantom II instead. "That looks dangerous." Leopold Stotch

Thank you for uploading the picture. I tried placing the loop around my palm and around my thumb and it appears to produce a difference in arm position. Around the palm produces a palms down position while around the thumb produces a palms up position. I've always flown my wingsuit with the loop around my thumb producing a palms up position. However, when I'm tracking I prefer my palms down when tracking relative to others for added control (and palms up when trying to maximize performance). I'm going to have to try it both ways next time I jump to determine if it makes a difference ... does it make a difference for anyone else? "That looks dangerous." Leopold Stotch

But the government has passed laws which aid one religion and which create a preference for one religion over another (which I've already given references too). So, while the government hasn't directly endorsed a national religion they have indirectly endorsed a national religion ... "That looks dangerous." Leopold Stotch

I think those raised in a western culture or religion have a more difficult time understanding the concepts because western culture and religion focus on the self and the continual existence of the self through various states of being. PS: Psychiatrists have used hallucinogens to help patients enter a state of being devoid of self ... "That looks dangerous." Leopold Stotch

A Buddhist who understands the true nature of being can still voluntarily be reincarnated which means a Buddhist does not stop being or cease to exist. Your concept of self and being (stemming from western culture and religion) is probably causing you to misunderstand the extinction of self. "That looks dangerous." Leopold Stotch

If I am reading all this right (and I might not be) the whole point is to stop being and to be free from suffering. So I guess it means they strive to cease to exist. So that would seem to mean it is not an afterlife. Buddhist don't strive to stop being or cease to exist, Buddhist strive for nirvana (which is a state of being free from both suffering and the cycle of rebirth). "That looks dangerous." I love the new hybrids ... bringing together swoopers and wingsuiters (swoopers of the clouds and cliffs). -

Is nirvana considered an afterlife? Because the liberation from the cycle of rebirth and suffering and the extinction of self leads to nirvana. "That looks dangerous." Leopold Stotch

You might want to do some more reading ... Buddhist believe in reincarnation (until you understand the true nature of being and escape the cycle of reincarnation). "That looks dangerous." Leopold Stotch

Even if all the sources listed next to these similarities are accurate (which I don't believe they are) you still have the problem that the teachings of Christianity and Buddhism regarding the purpose of this life and the concepts regarding the afterlife are different. Then you should have no problem showing me the law proclaiming such, now should you? Blah, blah, blah ... Sure they are - show me the law that states that the practice of Rastafarianism (damn, that's a mouthful) is illegal. And yes, I know where you're going with that - the Indians are fighting the same battle in regards to peyote. They don't let the Mormons (legally) have multiple wives, either. So we don't have freedom of religion. We have freedom of some religions (and the government has given the most freedom to ... Christianity). Translation - you can't PROVE it, but you feel that it is. That's fine, just don't confuse your feelings with legal reality. Just because the government doesn't (and can't) have a law stating Christianity is the religion doesn't mean the government doesn't have laws (and practices) that imply Christianity is the religion. You have yet to give me an answer to any of my questions ... Why does the government have national holidays based on the Christian religion (and not all other religions)? Why does the government have laws preventing the practices of religions? "That looks dangerous." Leopold Stotch

It doesn't matter what religion the majority practices (freedom of religion clause), what matters is that there is no law saying that Christianity (or any other religion) is the national religion of the country (establishment clause, the Church of England is an example of what they were trying to prevent). Open your eyes ... Christianity is the national religion (and this is the reason individuals are fighting to be free from religion). PS: Are Rastafarians allowed to practice their religion freely?
