So you don't believe that any of the religious rituals that involve drugs should have or should be practiced? "That looks dangerous." Leopold Stotch

Christian. Wolves are a metaphor. Some religious leader (the shepherds) don't want you (the sheep) to think for yourself and consider those people that would have you (the sheep) think for yourself to be dangerous (the wolves). Thus, if you're afraid of wolves then you're probably a sheep and you shouldn't stray from your shepherd. "That looks dangerous." Leopold Stotch

I'll give you a few examples ... There are people who believe in a God and who believe that God created every thing. Meditating on nothing helps remove every thing leaving just God. There are people who believe in focusing on some thing. Meditating on nothing helps remove every thing which allows them to then to focus on some thing. There are people who believe everything is a construct based on suffereing. Meditating on nothing helps remove the construct and thus remove suffering. "That looks dangerous." Leopold Stotch

You come across (at least in this thread) as someone who does follow a particular religion. Does it matter why I do it? After all, I do it for my own reasons and it's not affecting anyone else. If you want some reasons then think of them for yourself or do some research. I recommend starting with Buddhist texts. PS: The shepherds, sheep, and wolves are metaphors commonly used in the Christian religion. "That looks dangerous." Leopold Stotch

I don't think you see anything except the wool religion has pulled over your eyes. "That looks dangerous." Leopold Stotch

There are reasons to experience nothing regardless of your belief in a God. Feel free to experiment (and experience) on your own ... unless you're afraid of wolves. "That looks dangerous." Leopold Stotch

Do you believe that God created everything? If you do then experiencing nothing is experiencing God before God created everything. I think the shepherd is leading the sheep to a different pasture ... you might want to run along. "That looks dangerous." Leopold Stotch

That's not true. Science fits together very well. One of the main criterion for being accepted as a valid scientific theory is that it is self-consistent and fits in with everything else we know to be true. If it fails any of those tests, it gets dumped. Just because you can't explain how science fits it all together doesn't mean that others can't. Stephen Hawking would disagree. So would Albert Einstein. "That looks dangerous." Leopold Stotch

Agreed. I think we should set the bar at taking grips. People didn't think they could do RW (with grips) but then people improved their skills, started small RW (with grips), and then grew. People didn't think they could do VRW (with grips) but then people improved their skills, started small VRW (with grips), and then grew. So, people don't think we can do WRW (with grips) but people will improve their skills, start small WRW (with grips), and grow ... "That looks dangerous." Leopold Stotch

I think the fact that they're not flying would be the first reason to disqualify them. I'm just going by the caption. I'm going by the photograph showing their feet on the ground I don't know what I was thinking going by the caption. After all, they never get the incidents right either ... PS: The point is that flying (especially with others) is fun no matter what the formation looks like. "That looks dangerous." Leopold Stotch

Flocking ... I don't think they fit in a grid. "That looks dangerous." Leopold Stotch

While meditating on nothing I experienced nothing. I'm not a Buddhist, I'm an agnostic. There is. What of them? No. No. No. Crawling gives me a limited experience of movement. Crawling and walking increases my experience of movement. Crawling, walking, and running increases my experience of movement. Religions limit the experiences of God. "That looks dangerous." Vatican: Birth control pill pollutes environment
Butters replied to Andy9o8's topic in Speakers Corner
I should have said contraception. Even NFP can be contraceptive and the church has issues w/ that. The problem is the willful seperation of the unitive aspect of sex from the procreative. It's not that sex always has to make a baby, but the act of sex should always be open to the possibility of new life being created. Needless to say, very few people in todays society, at least in the west, are of this mindset. Shame, in my opinion. It's a shame that you (and the Catholic Church) don't think about the consequences of everyone having eighteen kids ... PS: Birth control and contraceptives are not 100% effective and thus there is always a possibility. "That looks dangerous." Leopold Stotch -
The spiritual beings God created in His image can create reality like God. Evil is a reality created by free will beings. God's reality is incompatible with evil realities. If God's reality is incompatible with evil realities and we are living in a reality where evil exists then we're not living in God's reality, we're living in a spiritual being's reality who was created by God (or possibly another spiritual being who was created by God). Right, because there is no such thing. There are people (and animals) who are cruel, unjust and selfish. But the expression of evil (and the expression of good) is just that; the expression of those characteristics. You can't fill a beaker of evil and test it, and you can't dispel evil with chicken bones, incense or holy water. It is a verb, not a noun. Your description explains why many people find science incomplete in its depiction of reality. Evil is both a noun and a verb. The inadequacy of science in this area, is why many people, with open minds, seek answers else where. If things were so clear cut we would be like the rest of the animal kingdom, totally unconcerned about the metaphysical nature of reality. We are products of our environment with just a dash of free will. If your God created everything and evil is something than your God created evil ... "That looks dangerous." Leopold Stotch
