  1. Isn't it oppressive to believe that all groups EXCEPT white men should be allowed the opportunity to accept scholorships based their backgrounds?? If were gonna be equal, everyone is equal now, not then.
  2. One more sleep till I'm in Kamloops!!!!!!

    Kamloops

I'm going. Chuck, call in sick!!!
  4. Not my current home DZ, but where I started. Notice the nice swoop lanes and lake (whack fuck course) to the north. http://www.skydivekamloops.org/finalBeHereDropZone.jpg Jay
  5. Nick, you're falling apart man. Cacaw!!
  6. That will add how many points to my licence?? SWEET, 2 more and I get the TOASTER!!!!!!
  7. More evidence its fake. 1) The shot that gets the "bad guy" has no muzzle flash. 2) The recoil on the guns is fake by the respective shooters when compare to the muzzle flashes that are there. 3) If had been shot, by the time the guy gets to draggin him, you'd think there would be blood a) on the front of the dead guys clothes b) or if the round penetrated right on through, then on the ground in a trail. And if he was smart enough to move the body, he's smart enough to go for the video.
  8. Best times to go are during the May long weekend or in the fall when the river is low and the sandbar is ready for swooping. May long brings the Otter, King Air, Huey and the odd surprise aircraft (in the past a 50 person Fokker F27). Small dz with big time fun. Gotta go at least once.
  9. Not moving to static line, doing both. Static line will be conducted for a military contract, IAD for civilian jumpers. All from Cessnas.
  10. ----------------------------------------------------------------- CITYBEAT - CITY OF CALGARY PRESS RELEASE ----------------------------------------------------------------- A 42 year old man from Golden, British Columbia, has been charged in connection with the property damage incurred as a result of his base jump from the ****** ***** building on March 31, 2005. After leaping from the southwest corner of the building located at ### # Street SW, a wind gust blew him into a window on the 24th floor, causing it to break. He then continued his flight and landed on top of the 5th storey glass dome walkway, smashing several other panes of glass. Total damage is estimated at $10,000.00. As a result of his fall he suffered non-life threatening injuries, and remains in hospital at this time. 7 Fire units, including the CFD High Angle Rescue team, 3 EMS units and 7 CPS units were utilized during the rescue of the base jumper. Scott ******* has been charged with Mischief to Property over $5,000.00, as well as Mischief Causing Danger to Life. He is due to appear in court in Calgary on May 31, 2005. (For the non-Canadians, the charges are criminal code offences)
  11. CANADA KICKS ASS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  12. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Quote -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Did you, or did you not cross the street against the light? -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This I actually can't honestly answer. I can hear it now....... the gavel slamming into the bench and one skydiver still missing his two jumps. Crying shame.
  13. Common Law duties of police (in Canada and I would assume the US) 1. Protect Life 2. Protect Property 3. Keep the Peace Pretty simple. Until you throw in the legal mess of court rulings from over a couple hundred years, policy and politics. Those are the "official" clouding issues. Now go to a heated situation that has taken years to deteriorate on a personal level of those involved. Maybe add a little alcohol, a little stress and you got pre determined notions of what should happen. Yup, you find me someone that can fix that in a couple of minutes. Besides, those cops only had him to follow around. I am sorry for her loss, but if she was so concerned with her children and afraid of such a man, why not keep a little closer eye on her kids. Putting your faith in a piece of paper to protect you is ridiculous.
  14. Canadian Skydive Centre in Didsbury Alberta has closed. No operations in near future expected.
  15. Or maybe a search function. Could look up users by region or dz perhaps??
  16. "He was standing alone 630 feet atop a man made object...he had a working parachute harness on" If he still had the main attatched, was he in a position to jump? I know its nit picking and I do agree with your point. He did, if momentarily, stand at the exit point with every intention of jumping. Wind had other plans. Again, not my forum. Just interested in the debate. I do believe the lesson and the attempt need recognition. J
  17. Disclaimer : I too am not a base jumper, just on the other side of the fence wanting in. I review the list frequently as I ponder the cost and contemplate the rewards. As I read the story, it does have a lesson. But I feel it is similiar to the lesson learned from those who slip on the way to the exit on any mountain or antanae with rig in stash bag. This seems, with all respect to those who were close to him, as a hopeful base jumper who made a mistake on the way to his first base jump exit point. Not during the commission of his first jump. However, while he was not a base jumper, he might be one of those individuals who at least pioneered the idea. Maybe that should earn him a place on the "other portion." I reserve my vote as I believe that should be a BASE jumpers perogative. Just my humble opinion. J (edited to add "other portion sentence"
  18. For IAD its hang off the strut. Its looking like I may have the opportunity to start doing S/L instruction as well, and am just looking to do some research before hand.
  19. I'm looking for any reference material on static line instruction, specifically with exits from Cessna 182's and the like. Don't see a lot of it up here in Canada, but maybe you guys down south could point me in the right direction. Have IAD training already. Jay
  20. The officers attended to seize property with a bailiff. The property had not had payments paid for for several months. In the process of seizing the property, the grow was located. The area was sealed off and officers remained behind to maintain continuity so a warrant could be obtained to ensure all was in order legally. While the officers were at scene, the suspect returns. He snuck across the field in white camo (still snow up here) and shoots all four officers with a high powered rifle. Soon after other officers arrive and a shoot out begins. Suspect kills himself. This is a man that terrorized a small rural community. He had a history of child abuse, drugs, assault and theft. He spoke openly of plots to kill police and regularly confronted other residents aggressivly. This man booby trapped his property and shot at passer-bys. This information comes from residents, police and court reports that have been published since the incident. This just wasn't some peaceful pot smoker. He was a violent, truly evil individual. Hell, his own father refused to go the the bastards funeral. Thats gotta tell you something. As for the people who disregard the four PEOPLE that were murdered by this man...... the sheep loath the sheepdog until the wolf shows up.
  21. "seeing a police car pull into the parking lot as you're halfway up on a 300ft ladder is pretty damn scary" HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!! Thank god there are no sun roofs in those things.........
  22. DC-3 for nostalgia, Huey with the doors open for take off, F-27 Focker Friendship for the number of jumpers on board (50) and hot air balloon for the dead air. Still waiting to hit up a B17. Might knock out the DC3.
