  1. Same sort of thing happened to me when I was considering getting a Hornet over the summer. Everybody told me to email Ned and order direct, and he just sent me the name of a distributor.
  2. I remember using Archie to find Phrack. The local BBS scene died out and I switched to the Internet not to long before all of the cool "find" services died off.
  3. And if you really want to be correct, put a newline after your sigdashes.
  4. The easy way to visualize a wind T: Take an airplane and put it on a pivot, so that it can freely spin 360 degrees. As the wind blows, the plane will turn until the nose points into the wind. A wind T is the same idea. It's just a big metal "T" with a vertical tail at the bottom end of the vertical "stick". The wide end of the T faces into the wind. The one at my home dropzone is very easy to read at opening altitude. You can see it in this photo, inside the white circle up and to the left of the jumper under canopy. The wind is blowing diagonally up and to the right.
  5. Haha. Rutan's web site calls Iron Eagle III a "screen classic."
  6. When there are too many users it asks for a username and password (so that the adminstrators can still get in). Make sure you are only downloading one thing at a time and that you don't have any FTP windows open, but not doing anything.
  7. It was in The Original Series, and to a lesser extend in DS9. Enterprise has a good "spirit of adventure" vibe to it. The other series were more about the particle of the week than the deeper message. I had a guy living in my dorm who had tons of TNG tapes that we would watch while eating dinner. The easiest way to piss him off was to request, "that one where they modify the deflector dish."

    Ma baby's hit

I guess it just depends on the accident. In my case, a human ruined the front bumper, crumpled the hood, busted in the windshield and collapsed the roof, among other things.
  9. Fox News just teased it for their 9:00 PM broadcast.
  10. There are courses that can take you from never having seen the inside of a reserve container to senior rigger in a week. A lot (I would assume the majority) of people take the longer route, studying at home, apprenticing under a local rigger, helping out at the loft, etc. That can take anywhere from months to years.
  11. I think fool might have meant Somalia. In the US, it's by far the least known of the three. This is even after Blackhawk Down was a smash hit. I know one person who thinks that Mogadishu is a country
  12. Pat Works has some animations demonstrating back-flying here.
  13. Can anybody honestly say that they were surprised to find out that the Dell Dude smokes dope?
  14. It's a nice site, once I went and got Flash 6. One of my pet peeves is when a business site requires me to go and get a plugin to view all of it's content.

    Ma baby's hit

Big animals are dangerous. Thank goodness that everybody is okay. I hit a homo sapiens at about 50 mph a while back (not my fault). Somehow he lived through it, but my car was totalled. I was cut up and freaked out, but otherwise ok. I can't imagine what would have happened if it was a large deer.
  16. Excuse me while I go invest in companies that make pin-puller AADs.

    Weekend Numbers?

I don't think anybody else has started this, and I have homework to avoid, so here we go... Remember kids, it's "humps:jumps:cases owed" 0:1:0 Back jumping at Sky Knights for the first time since August. Seemed really busy for the cold, sorta windy weather. 8 or 9 C-182 loads, I think. I did one to keep current from 10,500 on Sunday. A couple of braver (stupider?) jumpers did naked hop 'n pops on the last load. Keep in mind that it was something like 20 degrees on the ground.

    Cabin Fever?

Aww, come on. There were plenty of people at Sky Knights today. I got one from 10,500 to save my currency. Even had a couple of braves souls do a naked hop 'n pop.
  19. Tommorrow looks sunny with reasonable winds, if a bit chilly at 15-20 degrees. I may go out and make a hop 'n pop at Sky Knights around noon if there are people at the DZ.
  20. It's a Nascar event in Daytona, on live right now. Right at the beginning of the broadcast a demo jumper swooped in on an itty-bitty green main. Anybody know who it was?
  21. I hear you there. It only took me an hour to do my federal and state taxes last night. Even came out a few hundred bucks ahead.
  22. It isn't nice to lie You own the domain multiuniversal.com, and you gave us a referrer link to track who clicked through to your site. Not cool. Edit: I just noticed that Bruno is a very recent member. My best guess (and I doubt he'll pop back in to confirm this), is that he searches Google for people looking to register domain names, then drops in and does his little "satisfied customer" bit.
  23. 56 (goddamn) days ago at the Archway Chili Party. So this means that I lose currency on Wednesday, I guess. Damn damn damn damn.
