I find it more interesting that they weren't looking up. It looks like the game was in progress as they landed. Was this a bandit demo? That's what I was thinking. Was going to say off landing but it looks like it was intentional. I know nothing about this other then whats in the vid and dont understand what language that is but my professional speculation is that it was a deliberate unplanned demo from a friend(s) or team member of the other team or against something there. That collision looks as if it could have been avoided by anyone who can hit a landing field the size of that field (almost anyone, even most students) Seconded by the high five with the sign people.... He also had helpers there waiting to get his cutaway canopy off the field when things started to look like they were getting violent. my 2 cents... It also looked like the player he hit was ripping his lines off the canopy because he was pissed off. Nothing about this seemed planned by the stadium. Still focused, working out, and eating right but I stopped weighing myself for November and instead I'm growing a sick mustache. I got really frustrated when I weighed myself and gained a couple pounds because I was pushing myself so hard during my strength training. I didn't gain any fat and lost another inch on my waist but the lbs bothered me. Instead of being upset about it I'm just not going to weight myself for a while and focus on other things. I will be where I want to be before next season. Cheers to those following my progress. I completely agree with you and I want to learn to love mine as well. I want to be able to land exactly where I want to and I want to know exactly what to do during any situation. I might be afraid of heights but knowing what my canopy can do will definitely make it easier to deal with the fear and hopefully cure me of that stupid fear. P.S. Other people being under their canopy frightens me! I have twice had people spiral down at me without looking while I was in the pattern (I was at 800' the first time and 650' the second!). Which brings me to another couple of good pieces of advice: - no radical/unpredictable moves in the pattern (e.g.. s-turns or spirals) - LOOK-LEAN-TURN (and by LOOK I mean in the direction you will go which is not just left or right, but left or right and down for most turns) Thank you! I will definitely be looking where I am going. Yes I am picking up Brian Germain's book on Fear to try and cope with the heights fear I have. I have been under my own canopy twice now and landed safely so I'm not too worried. I'm just more concerned with what the canopy can really do and the only way I can learn it is by being under canopy. Can't wait until the spring... Thank you! I was given mine to remind myself of my goals. I got injured on my Cat B jump in 2006 pretty bad. Ended up in the ER with a hematoma on my left leg. (There are so many role models in the sport right now and I want to be one of them too.) Currently I am 247.5 lbs, eat right (besides cake I fucking love cake), and work out mon-friday. I will become the skydiver I wanted to be in 2006 and I will earn the closing pin I wear every single day. This is my resolve. I can tell you that no one has asked what it is unless they are a skydiver and I haven't run into any skydivers outside of my home DZ yet. This was my little story about why I wear a closing pin and why I got mine. P.S. I was standing in the shop at my DZ talking with Don the day I got mine. I was talking to him about my story, what I had been doing for the previous 6 years, and he was meeting my kids and wife for the first time. Asked him to buy one and he just tossed it to me and said it was on him. Not a minute later a guy walked through after doing his 1st tandem and asked for the very same thing because one of his friends told him to buy it. $3 later he was psyched even though he probably didn't even know what it was he just bought. I wish my parents brought me. I'm 34 and just getting into the sport now. There is an awesome video of a field trip to Skydive Chicago with a group of kids. I will definitely be on the PTA at my kids school to make sure those field trips happen.
