Here's a hint. Doing nothing other than screaming and praying for your life to be saved is NOT the best course of action. What??? She did everything right, right down to curling up into fetal position!

Do you flare in one stage? Maybe flaring in 2 stages might help to keep your body from swinging forward. More time to adjust the flare too imho.

My first 2 jumps with a camera.

As someone once said: "assumption is the mother of all fuckups" DSE's advice/comments are very valid, look them over. -

I was shocked much more by fact that your chain of events (faults) didnt lead to an accident. Some very serious bad habits you have there or lack of knowledge. I dont mean to burn you, but seriously, some of the things in your movie were potentially lethal. -
maybe she looked at your profile photo first (sorry man, i couldnt resist)

Skydiving Movie Proposal (First Draft)
sparkie replied to downplay's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
forget it. No movie will ever be better than "cutaway" -
depends on the pilot, if the basket is full they dont want to get the balloon too hot and you tend to get 3k ish. We had a reaaly cool pilot this year, he took us to little over 7k and we did some 2 way freefly ;P I worry sometimes about what the heat of the burners might do my rig and whats inside ;) I'm fairly tall thus close to the things and sometimes the side of my helmet is so hot you could burn your fingers on it

1. open my eyes 2. spend an eternity fiddling with the slider while never looking around 3. still not looking around and loosening my chest strap, no idea what that does but all the cracks do it so I do it too 4. adjusting my fallus, if its off center my canopy keeps wanting to turn 5. make a hard turn towards the dz, before looking for traffic o boy... did i mess up your "holier than thou", "kicking in the open door" questions? Ill make a new poll: do you turn on your headlights while driving in the dead of night?

Thinking about it, yes I think it could matter. If the pin is pushed all the way home (this is advised against in the manual but not all packers know this) then the bridle pulls on the lower side of the pin hoop while the leg of the pin stops the pin rotating in the closing loop by pressing against the closing flap. This could try to invert the pin and possibly let it dig into the closing flap causing a pilot chute in tow. I'd rather avoid that if possible. You CAN overthink some things. The pin will come out regardless of the way you orientate it. smiley up is mostly to prevent it coming out when you sit on the floor or someones foot in the plane.

those amounts of impairing adrenaline boosts are not a constant factor in skydiving, only the very beginning or if you're doing something new and/or difficult. I hope that you dont still have that much adrenaline going on on a normal dive ;) I think the mentioned safetyfeatures and explaining the workings of these will fill up 30-40 mins of speechtime fine.

Not a preferable situation that I would like to be in....Its do-able though @ 110 jumps you have only half a clue what you are doing (I had at least) so I'd have to call BS on that statement. No disrespect intended though.
-
Good point and well put! also, going up with someone on their first sitfly attempt (as i see some "coaches" doing) is nothing more than freeloading.

disregard any comments about skydiving, dont waste your energy on that

Finally someone agrees with my stall theory. I got burned horribly @ youtube when i suggested that. Now I can sleep again

Well, seeing how they f#cked up your face.........

thanks, I will contact them.

any sunglasses for skydiving out there that fit ppl with a somewhat bigger nose bridge? i tried the gatorz but the frame gets stuck too high up my nose, so that I can put a finger between the glasses and my cheek, I bet thats no good in freefall... Im using plastic standard goggles and that works fine but I would like to be cool like you guys....

Your best bet I would say is to take it to a qualified master rigger and ask them what you can have done to it. Im sure they will be able to help you out. So basically, your answer to his question is to ask someone else? Just posting for the sake of posting? And to top it all off, you made me post off topic because I had to point out you made a non-informational post.

Is this a quiz? I was about to answer but your jump number gave my brain an error 43 and then crashed to desktop
-
my advice: dont do it. Get at least 200 jumps in before doing demos. Also a more general rule: when in doubt, dont jump. A demo @ 21 jumps would be 100% stress and 0% fun imo anyway. Your family can wait for you to get a bit more experience?!

I almost broke into sweat just looking at that You might want to take it a bit easier with the "sausace"making, so you dont push lines back to the nose. Just take it slow, and place your hands/feet/knees carefully so it does not breathe too much. I had a brand new pilot 168 not too long ago, I can now claim that a sabre2 is much worse when new ;) enjoy your packing *cackle*

I bet ww2 would have ended sooner if the guys were dropped under velo's and were gunning down enemies while swooping it in with a nice 270.
-
That's impossible. You can never be 100% sure of how you would handle an emergency, especially your first. A statement like this looks like overconfidence, thats very dangerous. There good threads on rsl or no rsl, look em up.
-
I'd go with a 168 at exit weight of 180. That gives one a nice wl. The pilot isnt the most agressive canopy so if the novice jumps regularly and can land consistantly good i see no obvious problems. I'd also buy a rig that can hold al least the next downsize. hth
