  1. But if those other people weren't so damn lazy, they would be rich enough to do the same thing and whatever policy you think he is pushing wouldn't effect them. So it is still a moot point if you believe poor people are just lazy. As usual - your attempt to deliberately misunderstand the context of the discussion and try to change the subject is as annoying as when I do it. He is in his gottcha mode (I am guessing) but nobody is biting in his stink bait "America will never be destroyed from the outside, if we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves." Abraham Lincoln
  2. You sea level comment is a perfect example of the bs out there today Example In major papers in the US in the last 3 or 4 weeks I have seen three articles addressing sea level changes First one? Recounted a just completed study that said because the planet was so dry from man made climate change, it (the planet) was acting like a giant sponge absorbing the water and negating sea level rise. Within the next 2 weeks Another study claims as you have here, that the sea level is rising at unprecedented rates (this to me is always a red flag) Last week Yet another study saying the sea level is rising slower that it has in the recorded past. And then of course, the whole damn question then falls back to whether man has anything to do with the changes IF they are really happening. I gotta admit This is entertaining more often than not BTW YOU blasted the Watts site because YOU stated it was opinion And then YOU post a CNN opinion page as evidence to back up your point????? Folks You can not make this shit up "America will never be destroyed from the outside, if we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves." Abraham Lincoln
  3. But if those other people weren't so damn lazy, they would be rich enough to do the same thing and whatever policy you think he is pushing wouldn't effect them. So it is still a moot point if you believe poor people are just lazy. Strawman I know many people who work very hard yet have very little. You do too! I am not sure why you are so focused on lazy?????? Now, stop trying to read minds again and have a grown up conversation
  4. You are mixing issues You currently pay nothing to maintain that grid Correct? "America will never be destroyed from the outside, if we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves." Abraham Lincoln
  5. How is this a problem? If poor people are just too lazy to make money, how can you then get upset when somebody has money and spends it on himself only? Got no problem with that at all Until he starts pushing policy that does not affect him but it hard on others Bottom line What he is doing is going to cost him more money in the not too distant future Unless he completely disconnects from the grid "America will never be destroyed from the outside, if we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves." Abraham Lincoln
  6. It must really really suck for you when the Watts site references journals like this. Oh so painful. but then of course I am not in the real debate And if it is you laughing at me??? When then lets carry on
  7. Both a cop out and Right back at ya And you are still ignoring who and what Watt is Typical......... "America will never be destroyed from the outside, if we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves." Abraham Lincoln
  8. It also selfishly benefits only you! You are rich enough to make sure you cover your own ass Cheap energy has saved thousands of lives over the decades Your energy source only benefits you BTW There is changes coming Yep, In CA too That are going to cost people like you money and it is a good thing "America will never be destroyed from the outside, if we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves." Abraham Lincoln
  9. I only vaguely know that they would have been difficult and expensive to implement and would result in needing to replace many of them with other sources. I don't know what percentage. But this is where the real debate should be. What to do? How far to go and how fast. What policies are worth the price and what are not. There are many good reasons to reduce coal consumption, but I agree, it can't be done too quickly. The argument should be over how quickly. There are valid points each way. But there is no argument warming is real. And I'd like to move past that. Watt likes to poke holes in the details of how things are measured. But he ignores the big picture. Sea levels are up, glaciers are retreating, CO2 is increasing. Who cares about the small details of where monitoring stations are located? It's a global, not a local phenomenon. You muddy the debate when you say we know warming is real It infers way too much And it is intended to do just that The real fact is, the climate changes. That is what it does. It has been doing it for eons and will continue doing it as far as anyone can imagine So, a climate that is changing is not an issue other than we have to adapt to said change That said What you refer to are changes you think to be man made, correct? And at this point you have no idea if the changes we are said to be seeing are natural or man caused I do not think we can cause an effect to the scale the warmists claim. And they sure as hell have not proved anything either "America will never be destroyed from the outside, if we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves." Abraham Lincoln
  10. You know better than I that coal is being displaced by gas for electricity generation. Something that is also unsustainable long term. The price of gas will go up as the demand eventually outstrips the supply. But this may be decades away. Coal consumption has powered large parts of the world, it's effect on the poor as often been far from positive. You seem to be worried that the government is going to suddenly decide to shut down the energy supply and that this will be bad for you. It isn't going to happen that way. We are going to stumble along making relatively small changes here and there slowly changing the mix of our energy supply. And working on lowering consumption. All the time hoping that the effects of warming don't become catastrophic. There is a chance they will. No one really knows yet. But we need to understand that the possibility exists. No one is calling for panic, just awareness and planning. The world economy is a huge ship and it is powered by energy. That is not going to change, but the ship is slowly turning as ships do. EPA rules are currently being held up by the courts Those rules deal with coal fired plants (in large part) Have you read anything about the effect these rules would have had they been allowed to move forward? "America will never be destroyed from the outside, if we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves." Abraham Lincoln
  11. There is no debate. Just anger. You are not debating. And you are misreading me. I clearly said "we are not going to give up our lifestyles" and we aren't. I am but I call out the bs when someone assigns a name like deadender We tell children to grow up when they call names. I also agree with you that as individuals we will not change But there are those who push our governments to force their beliefs on the rest of us. Killing coal fired electric production only hurts the poor as an example "America will never be destroyed from the outside, if we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves." Abraham Lincoln
  12. Here is more about your so called "deadender" http://wattsupwiththat.com/about-wuwt/about2/ "America will never be destroyed from the outside, if we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves." Abraham Lincoln
  13. I see you are trying a new label to see if you can intimidate some one to stop debating Pathetic "America will never be destroyed from the outside, if we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves." Abraham Lincoln
  14. Bullshit clean air clean water Good deals Massive lifestyle changes for a lie? Bullshit BTW Watts is not a denier He believes as you do to a level Betcha did not know that huh...... "America will never be destroyed from the outside, if we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves." Abraham Lincoln
  15. As Al Gore would say, "do as I say not as I do". Of course he does not want to talk about the extra CO2 to build the garage his MG is in. Or the hanger his airplane is in. Let alone the power and or energy is takes to secure the airport for boys and their toys I wonder if either is in a heated garage??? "America will never be destroyed from the outside, if we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves." Abraham Lincoln
  16. And has the company cut back on the millions of tons of CO2 it admits to spewing into the atmosphere every year? we met more than the EPA requirements in the last two years. But if we did cut back as much as you want you would be bitching about not having electricity to open your hangar doors "America will never be destroyed from the outside, if we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves." Abraham Lincoln
  17. Power available. 24/7/365. In addition to our wind farm
  18. Not by intentions or ideals EXTERNAL to it. Hmmmmmm "America will never be destroyed from the outside, if we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves." Abraham Lincoln
  19. you are wrong about him You are too emotionally involved to be coherent about him it seems "America will never be destroyed from the outside, if we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves." Abraham Lincoln
  20. Oh, if it could only be so simple. Then you would not need an odd number, would you? You should read about the role of your SC. It has many roles. But the one you are talking about is actually "interpreting" the constitution. There's the rub. It is And this is their first responsibility. In John's world it is the intent of the law created by congress he thinks comes first. But overall, I agree with your assessment. "America will never be destroyed from the outside, if we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves." Abraham Lincoln
  21. I'd prefer a SC that judges cases on their merits, and justices whose positions can't be predicted ahead of time based on the party of the president who nominated them. Right now we only seem to have one of those, and he's marginal in that respect. I may have a heart attack, I agree with this. So he wants a judge that spends a lot of time looking at original intent, trying to be objective about it, and not letting personal biases get him away from original intent.......... Indeed - which is not someone like Scalia who refused to consider "intent" even when clearly stated. Intent of the founders Not the congress Wrong again. Nope Not wrong The SC primary job is to uphold the Constitution. To follow the intent of a congress would at time go against their oath . I know that is not the progress view but, that does not make you correct. "America will never be destroyed from the outside, if we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves." Abraham Lincoln
  22. It appears at this time that the GOP will follow then Sen. Biden and now Sen. Schumer's advice regarding a SC nominee in the end of the Presidents term. "America will never be destroyed from the outside, if we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves." Abraham Lincoln
  23. Hey John, what kind of mileage do you get tooling around in the MG plaything of yours? Skydivers have no place criticizing other people's waste of energy and CO2 footprint. How about his airplane??? "America will never be destroyed from the outside, if we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves." Abraham Lincoln
  24. Where did I write that it is? And has the company that pays you cut back on the millions of tons of CO2 it admits to spewing into the atmosphere every year? Hopefully it doubles CO2 output every day Cheaper energy that way "America will never be destroyed from the outside, if we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves." Abraham Lincoln
  25. CO2 is not a pollutant And you are a rabid alarmist "America will never be destroyed from the outside, if we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves." Abraham Lincoln
