I think they are a neat gadget and a cool piece of jewelry. They also keep good time. I would not want to use one as a skydiving altimeter due to very small display that does not update often enough. I want to be able to read my altitude at a glance, which cannot be done with one of the watches. And even if you can read it, the displayed altitude might be several seconds old. One of the reasons that the skydiving-specific altimeter exists is that it meets the specific needs of skydivers. Brent ---------------------------------- www.jumpelvis.com

I just got Sprint. People told me it sucked. But when they told me how bad it sucked, it never seemed as bas as Cingular was sucking, so now I have Sprint. I went in with a group of my coworkers; we are all on a family plan. If you have people you trust to pay the bill, that is totally the way to go - it is much cheaper per person to get service with four friends. Of course, I recognize that I am probably somewhat unique in that I have worked ten years at a job where several other people have worked 10 years, too, and none of us are likely to leave. ---------------------------------- www.jumpelvis.com

I will pack for you, and I will accept the responsibility that if I am grossly negligent in performing my duties as a packer, you can sue me. The problem here is that I am not a rigger, so you will need to become one so that I can pack under your supervision. In addition, I charge $100,000 per pack job. Let me know. Go for maximum SHU (Scoville Heat Units). The % really determines how long it lasts, while the SHU determines how "hot" it is. Go for at least 1 million SHUs. If the mfg does not tell how many SHUs, it means they are selling you crap and hope you do not know better. This is far more common than you would think. My brand of choice is Fox Labs. It is good stuff. Brent EDIT: Proof that I do not make this stuff up, but rather steal it from others http://www.tacticalresponse.com/media/articles/pepper.php ---------------------------------- www.jumpelvis.com

Guys, remember where this took place. When I go to the dz, I know that I am subjecting myself to maybe seeing someone go in. If this had happened at the track or on the set of a movie where the stunt was to have a guy go fast with no helmet, it would be different. Brent ---------------------------------- www.jumpelvis.com

If it will make him feel any better, I do not think that 15 year old will be entertained by it, anyway. The plot revolves around how psychologically difficult it is to be in that sitation - probably not something in which he will be interested. Rent Platoon instead. ---------------------------------- www.jumpelvis.com

I'm with the111 on this. If you think of ISO as picture quality, shutter speed as ability to stop action, and aperture as depth of field, this new mode will allow me to pick depth of field and ability to freeze action while I let quality slide. There are situations where a really noisy shot with adequate dof and no motion blur would be better than the alternatives currently available. You are correct that a person could choose an ISO and go with it for skydiving, but I am thinking more of a street photog setup or a PJ setup where you might be in bright streets at one moment and in dim alleys the next. On a left hand door plane such as a King Air, get your right elbow UP so that your chest is rotated a bit into the relative wind and dive straight out at the wingtip. If you present your chest to the relative wind and arch out the door, you'll feel like you are flying on your side for a second, then you will feel yourself "roll" down the hill to belly to earth. But you will always be belly to relative wind. Brent ---------------------------------- www.jumpelvis.com

For whatever reason, long before I found this website, I found your web page about John O'Hara. It was a very powerful thing for a new skydiver to read. Brent ---------------------------------- www.jumpelvis.com
