There is one NEOS demo over at Sunshine Factory. Everyone who has jumped it seems to like it.

Early USPA Instructor Certification Courses...
SkymonkeyONE replied to Guru312's topic in Skydiving History & Trivia
There is a picture of that first ICC hanging in the bar, Aviators, at Raeford. Paul Keith Thacker and Chris Needels are in it. -
Swoops from 300ft to 665ft
SkymonkeyONE replied to NewClearSports's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
I just might agree there. -
Well, Manny's Funtana S 50-sized 3D plane got in today. It's ARF, so we both ought to have our gassers up and flying by the middle of the week.

I have pretty bad, permanent tinitis (ringing of the ears) in my left ear. I never took care to protect my ears and sometimes the ringing bugs the shit out of me. Chuck

Post your Hot Swoop X-Rays
SkymonkeyONE replied to dharma1976's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
That is actually a good idea. If more than a couple of people post their film to this thread I will make it sticky. Please put in all pertinant info so we can better learn what not to do. Chuck Done. It's sticky now. Once again, post your film, and describe exactly what you did to incur the injury. Also please try to put jump numbers and wingload. -
OK, Glen, you suck. We haven't partied in a very long time.
-
Katie and I live here, so yes, we will be here.
-
That is accurate. As a matter of fact Peter G was here last weekend and told me so. He does graphic design for Nancy now. She is moving her sewing operation to Canada and was/is still there nailing down everything. There will still be an office/repair facility in Deland though. Chuck

You laugh, but we here at The Hills were just talking about doing some "king of the air" jumps where we intentionally burble each other out of shape. It was Jefe's (Heffro1) idea. I am totally down with it.
-
If you don't want it seen, then DON'T post it in the first place.
-
Too bad you are stuck in Tejas, Dave. We have at least two bigger suits here that would fit you. Perhaps we will bring them to SkyFest next year. Or......you could drag your ass to FL. Chuck

I have seen a couple of flat spins, but have never been in one myself. Our boy Heffro1 (Nebelkizzzzy!) got in one so bad that his eyballs redded-out like the devil! He has pics I wish he would post. That was very early in his wingsuit career though. Chuck

Nancy's stuff is in super-high demand. Her suits are the absolute standard in my opinion and positively worth the price one pays for a full-on custom. Mine was nearly $600 two years ago. Chuck

That's an amazingly large downsize, and to an HP elliptical at that. I don't know your actual jump experience, but it can't be that great at age 19. You have bitten off WAY more than you should have in buying that canopy. Chuck
-
I don't think Steve ever got into a full-on spin, but he did make several good revolutions and was able to fly out of it. No biggie. I have never not been able to fly out of any spin I found myself in while trying something new or being plowed in the sky by some errant zoomie.

There was a time that was very vogue among members of the GK 8-way team. I watched Darren Schuster get a leg caught up when "un-flipping" and he augered into a huge mud puddle over behind the hangar. It was very funny. Lots of people on the team (and others at Raeford) also liked to time their turns so that they would plane out, start sliding, and just let go of all of their controls.

It will positively help you. Tell the tunnel staff when you arrive that you are an AFF student and they will tailor your time to working on those specific skills. Chuck

Have You Ever Fudged YOUR Jump Numbers?
SkymonkeyONE replied to katiebear21's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Betsy, I am not sure, but it sounds like you were calling me out. Is that correct? If so, I don't have any idea why you would do so. Feel free to call Skydive Opelika, the Fort Bragg Parachute Club (formerly the Green Beret Parachute Club), Raeford Parachute Center, Skydive City Z-hills, USPA headquarters and former president Glenn Bangs (who personally checked proof-of-experience for my 4000 jump diamonds when he was visiting Raeford on the way to a BOD meeting), or even my own waiver at your dropzone from 2003 if you are questioning my numbers or qualifications. I made my 1000th jump in 1990 (after nine years of jumping). My 2000th in 1997, My 3000th three years later, and my 4000th three years after that. Feel free to check USPA records or just take a look at my old logbooks or my Neptune (which I have worn on every single jumps since before my 3000th jump. I am puzzled as to why you in particular would choose to respond like that to me. It's not like we aren't friends. You have my number. Did I attack you in some manner? I don't think so. Where, in anything I wrote, did you get the idea that I was talking about you? I was not. What's up with the "glass houses" comment? What's up with the "drama" comment? You haven't seen me other than in passing in a very long time. What gives? You have a problem with my profile? Is that all? At any rate, I didn't start the thread. My wife was simply laughing to me at some of the jump numbers that she saw posted for several people we know. I was a bit incredulous at some of them so I posted back with my thoughts on the subject. My house is not glass. Chuck -
40 is definitely not "old." At least not to me it's not. It's a mindset thing. If you are in a crappy job, have a fat wife, a houseful of screaming kids, and get your kicks sitting on the couch watching Doctor Phil you might be old prematurely. If you live young you will stay young. I know a good many 60 year-olds who are definitely not "old" either.

I totally agree. Here in Z-hills that place is called "The Village Butcher" and the owner there will cut you as massive a perfect steak as you wish. We routinely buy three-pound steak cuts there and cook out here on the DZ. Still, the very-best steak I ever had the pleasure of eating was the Filet en Trozo at El Ariero in Tegucigalpa Honduras. It is a filet, literally, the size of a 16-ounce tallboy laid on it's side. Magnificent
