How's this for advertising?
SkymonkeyONE replied to Hooknswoop's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Well, I learned SL and taught SL for well over a decade before I got any other ratings. In my opinion, a perfect training method would employ a bit of all three other "mainstream" programs. This, of course, assuming each and every dropzone would get off their ass and AT LEAST teach the basic ISP fundamentals. It made me really fucking mad to take a ten-jump AFF "graduate" from St. Louis on what he thought would be a "solo jump" when he had not once been instructed on spotting, nor had he ever completed a barrel roll nor a front loop. Hey, whatever. I have all the ratings now and don't care which method a student cares to pay for. The bottom line here is that each and every one of them is still going to recieve the same level of professional instruction from my school. New hp stuff from PD -rumors?
SkymonkeyONE replied to diveout's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
I anticipate seeing several new offerings from PD next week at the symposium. Chuck -
If I were sending a canopy to A.J. Roque in Portugal, I would have him perform his entire "roq mod". Chuck

700:3:1 700 is the number of beers I drank in Z-hills this weekend. One case because while I had jumped at the "old" Z-hills back in the mid 80's, I had never made a skydive at Skydive City. Chuck

Yes, Gean, that's new. Not a bad retirement job to roll right into, eh? Chuckie -
Red Bull Wings Pond Swooping Qualifier
SkymonkeyONE replied to tkhayes's topic in Events & Places to Jump
Hey, where's my prize money from last weekend's meet? Don't sweat it; I had fun drinking beer and jumping with Boxman. Also, it didn't hurt that both Katie and I got $400 apiece credits from Delta for them overbooking our flight from Atlanta to Tampa. Chuck Blue D-12501 Manager, Raeford Parachute Center School -
Yep, I like those versions too; the ones with the squared off internal audible postion. The only drawback to them is that the exteriors are coarse, not really finished smoothly. That, of course, can be rectified with some sanding and clearcoat. Anyway, the older "pimp" mindwarps are still available as New Old Stock, you just have to look around. We just scored Katie a new metallic purple pimp mindwarp from The Sunshine Factory when we were visiting Z-hills this past weekend. Very stylish, and in her color as well! Chuck

Three Stooges in effect! Matt, I will be out there this afternoon and so will Katie. She needs to make about six jumps prior to Saturday, so yall come on out. Chuck

Jess, the guy is full of shit. Refer to my boy LouDiamond's post. Did you wrassle him anyway? Chuckie MFFJM and a former member of ODA 724, among other things.

He is going to be an Army 11B for a couple of years, just like Joey DiAnnunzio ("Padewan" on the boards. Droopy's brother). All these young monkey lips are great skydivers. Don't be gettin big heads, though, or I will stick all of your heads in a toilet! Chuckie

I will generally break-off at 4,500 and pull at 4,000 no matter how big a flock I am in. I can get a LONG way away in that distance. It must be noted that I generally never pull below 4k in a wingsuit. Chuck
-
I fly wide open then wave off, collapse all my wings just long enough to forcefully throw my nine-foot bridle equipped 24 inch PC, go back into full flight for about two seconds until I feel the lines stretch and a bit of tension. At that point I put my knees together and drop them, thus sitting me up. At the same time, I pull both hands in around my handles and look straight at them (the handles). When I feel the canopy open I look up to see if it's going to go straight; if it does, I unzip my arms immediately and take control. If not, I am already at my handles and can more effectively deal with it. Chuck

BREAKDOWN OF 2003 EVENTS
SkymonkeyONE replied to proswoopingtour's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
The way I read it, Ray, is since you are on the "advanced" list already, you are cleared to compete in those "advanced" competitions they have listed without paying for the qualification. To compete in the Pro events you will have to pass that new qualification. Chuck -
Z-Hills this weekend... 100 Jumps for ME!!!
SkymonkeyONE replied to katiebear21's topic in The Bonfire
OK, here is the poop: It's cold and windy in Z-hills, but Katie, Mouth, SkyMama, and a host of others are having a lot of fun here. We got in fairly late yesterday afternoon after being held up in Atlanta airport all night. Lucky for us, they gave us $400 bucks apiece in Delta cash, plus put us up in the Sheraton and bought us chow. Anyway, Bill and Nicole Rafferty picked us up in Tampa and carried us by the DZ first, then to their house where we are staying. We found Lisa (Mouth) there and policed her up, then went into town and ate steak, etc. It was a good meal. We then went back to the airport and got very drunk along with BoxMan, Randy Kern and Andy Serrano. This morning we were all suffering massive hangovers, yet we managed to get back to the DZ by around 9:00 am. A good day of jumping followed, then we started drinking again. We are now all about to eat at Bill and Nicoles. Mouth got her skymonkey hat last night and I am giving Andrea hers in a minute. More later, Chuckie -
How cold is too cold for you
SkymonkeyONE replied to rendezvous's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
That sounds callous, but I agree. I generally do tandems with my hands behind my back anyway, only maintaining heading with my feet (I jump a bootie suit for tandems). It's pretty easy to hide behind tandem passengers when you are only five foot seven. Still, at 39 years old, I am much more likely to let a younger, more eager instructor take students up when it's freezing cold outside. Chuckie -
He has the opportunity to jump both, here at Raeford. Me (and his former 8-way world champion father) will make sure he does not become a statistic on our watch. Chuck

Happy Birthday, Wendy! Are you 21 again? Chuckie

mid 80's underground band "Business and Industry": This sitiuation's tearing ME apart on the INSIDE... it's not that easy One must MAKE a final stand... it's not that easy If you were down and out, I would lend you my HELPING HAND, it might prove... too much for ONE, I'd gladly ease your pain. I'll take you...out from under. Take you somewhere you could.. REST your PRECIOUS soul, I'd make you wonder. Chuck

Agreed. My ultra-custom flamed mindwarp is, of course, the "pimp" variety. I could care less that the audible pocket is outside; the basic shape of the older helmets is FAR superior in my opinion. A perfect Mindwarp would have the older shape with the "pimp" velvet, but either the even older, squared off internal pocket, or the new "teardrop" internal pocket. The "pointy head" look of the newest mindwarps, Optik, and boomerang make me nuts. Chuck "these flames make me go faster"

Talk to me on the DZ. Those are two very different parachutes. In the same size, the Cobalt is a much more forgiving parachute. Chuck

The Beer line, how fine is it?
SkymonkeyONE replied to obes's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
We take the beer line thing pretty serious at Raeford, especially when there are a lot of family members around and people are packing out in the grass in the sun. Another reason is that we don't want people landing anywhere near the trees when the wind is blowing over them (this is known as "the Raeford Dragon"). Swooping over the packing/spectator area lower than six feet (as you cross over into the "clean" side) will also result in a beer line bust. Chuck -
Pics: "Before and After", SkymonkeyOne & Others
SkymonkeyONE replied to AggieDave's topic in The Bonfire
It must be noted that the barfing pic was actually a retake! Young master Lund missed the shot completely on the first try, so I did it again, on command. Now that's talent! Chuckie -
Yes Actually, there is a very good one of him and some "others" hidden in plain sight, yet very accessible. Chuck

BWAHAHAHA! No SHIT! Hey Crystal, did he tell you the camera was not on or something? I love you, man! Chuck
