I seriously have a picture of me blowing out all the candles that people left in River Phoenix's memory in front of the Viper Room. That said, I was the antithesis of glam rock in the 80's. I was an Industrial/Progressive fan. No makeup though. Earlier 80's to me were 38 special, Molly Hatchet, etc. Chuck

I guess they had the rehearsal today for Rodney's funeral, I mean Wedding. Unless I am still totally swamped I am going to be there as well. I am seriously considering wearing my Blues, goatee, ponytail and all. I think it would be a riot. My Blues are right here in the closet. Chuck

The clicky works fine, lip!

The first person I ever saw practice this commonly was Clint Clawson. He has been doing it at least since June 2001 when I first competed with him, but probably much longer in actuality. Chuck

Everybody has their opinion, so here's mine: Michigan Knife Edge comp. I have two and love them. I have always had great service from Mike, so that is a plus as well. Chuck

Hey, Sebastian, what the fuck? Where's the east coast/ west coast love? Oh, and what were you thinking calling Sunny in her weakened state. She is sure to force you to do some uterus stomping now.

Tandem Questions re weight of student and cost...
SkymonkeyONE replied to BravestDog's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Our general rule is "no heavier than 230", but I have made exceptions in instances where the person was clearly in superior shape, like the "linebacker" guy previously discussed. I have never had a bad experience with big, in shape guys and have shown two very big guys the joy of skydiving without over-grossing the rig. Try six foot eight, 275 out of a Cessna. I was initially a bit hesitant, being I am five foot seven, 155, but it was a perfect skydive. We smoked the hell out of the video guy, but the jump was flawless. Nope, I didn't get a penny more for that skydive. Truth be known, my dad didn't pay me at all for that skydive.....Bastard! LOL! Anyway, these are exceptional cases and ultimately it's the decision of the dropzone and the individual tandem instructors on what they will and will not do. Exceptional cases such as larger-than-average passengers and paraplegics need only be undertaken by those with that exceptional skill-set and supreme confidence in their ability. I have that confidence, but there are plenty of TM's who absolutely do not, thus the posted limits. Chuck -
Yep, that's definitely the main I saw at the PIA.

That's the Jess I remember.

I think it has more to do with the way you live your life. If you carry on like a twenty year old, then that is how your body is generally going to hold up. I can do quite a bit more crap at nearly 40 than I could do when I was 20, even 30. I am not sure what the cutoff will be for me, but my dad is 67 and still does tandems when there aren't any younger TM's around to haul the meat. Chuck

As a BM-I, I sign off every person's logbook who I train. That way, if there ever WAS a question by an S&TA or DZO, the jumper could show the certifying note; it's just smart business to make an annotation in my opinion. The reason that we jump with new birdies with low jump numbers, plus anyone else with over 500 jumps who asks, is so that we can shadow them on the dive and give AFF-type hand signals to help them out. This in itself requires a great deal of competency and in-air agressiveness on the part of the BM-I. I have, on many occasions, had to dive down to someone who zooed an exit and was flying straight away from the dropzone. It becomes our responsibility at that point to come along side, get their attention, and get them headed back in the correct direction. As to "other" coaching, that depends on how fast you pick up the discipline. The suit is very easy to fly in general, but it's another thing altogether to fly one efficiently. Having someone right next to you who can smoke your ass will only make you a better flyer. You might be flying along thinking "man, I am killing it!", then see your buddy or instructor just kick it in and leave you at the end of the skydive. By using hand and arm signals, and even yelling over to the "student", I can get them working at it during the jump, thus shortening the learning curve. It's no different than any other discipline in that regard. Chuck

Thread drift . . . stream of conciousness or bane to all mankind?
SkymonkeyONE replied to quade's topic in The Bonfire
Stop wearing underwear. Aound here we all saunter around in black MJ Soffee nylon shorts or nothing at all. It's very wet this year. I think I will eat an ice cream sandwich. Avaiators has a nice sandwich called "Chuckie's Chicken and Cheese", but Monkey Fries are the shit. Just ask Pyke; he is a vegitarian. My double-ex wife played like she was a vegitarian as well, but it was all a hoax. -
