  1. I have three open face helmets and one full face helmet. The full face helmet (a Factory Diver) hardly ever gets jumped.
  2. I have no idea what you are basing your frame of reference on concerning the statement "nobody likes PD" as that is possibly the farthest thing from the truth I can imagine. PD is a first-rate organization with the absolute industry standard demo program. Nobody, and I mean nobody maintains a demo fleet as large as theirs. They take great care in making sure the customer is satisfied while at the same time making sure that unqualified people don't get their hands on too high performance a canopy. Sorry you had an other than perfect interaction with them, but I can assure you that you are in the smallest minority. Chuck
  3. That's the one Kevin Orkin is running, correct?
  4. You were talking about using a swoop cord. Leroy did a very poor job of describing anything of the sort.
  5. I am about to train a bunch of them sometime this month.
  6. Not to nitpick, but I hope that wasn't a cut and paste of the letter you sent USPA. You misspelled the word "from" at least twice, instead writing "form." That just from the cursory glance I took at it.
  7. I am not a bed hog, but my wife sure is!
  8. Since when? Does he have all his teeth?
  9. Leroy, what the fuck are you talking about? Rubber bands "wrist to wrist?" Explain that comment, because you sure as hell are not making any sense.
  10. If you want to spend your money wisely, then you will go to the FAR more realistic L1 tunnel in Maggie Valley.
  11. Amazingly, I believe work is going to keep me away from the convention this year.
  12. Snake tastes like chicken! Actually, a bit more like froglegs, but still very good.
  13. That was a great pic of me and Chris; I miss him terribly.
  14. They put A-stamps on the forehead at the Farm now too? HAHAHAHA! I started doing that in October 2001 when they implemented the ISP at Raeford! The A-stamp to the forehead is MANDATORY at Raeford. CHuck
  15. **uh hmm** You are forgetting a lot of people, Kris. Stacy, TG, ME, Froggie, etc.
  16. I still have one disassembled out in my shop. The waveless ones sleep great, but are impossible to completely drain if you have to move. Likewise, the baffle material will never again line up if you are successful in moving one and refilling it. Thankfully, they are expensive at all to replace. Chuck
  17. Ahh. If only more people realised this... t I will second that. The fundamentals of HP canopy flight can can and should be learned and mastered on the canopy most familiar to the pilot.
  18. BASE pantz are fantastic for tandems and AFF where you want more leg power, but just don't like wearing bootie suits. They inflate faster and harder than the freefly version. They work better on tracking dives as well in my opinion. I have both BASE and freefly versions.
  19. Excuse me? We put all of our students in jumpsuits for several reasons. First of all, there is no guaranteeing that anyone is going to stand a tandem up everytime no matter how good you think you are. Wearing a jumpsuit keeps grass stains off the khaki pants that so many people like to show up in and it keeps them from getting their asses skinned up if they are wearing shorts and you butt-slide a landing. Secondly, there is no telling what folks are going to show up in. Loose haltar tops and tight shorts might look good on a girl, but having that shirt fly up over their head in freefall (on video) is only going to lead to embarrasment. Likewise, I don't like getting beat up in freefall by the hoodies on some tops. The jumpsuit keeps everything in place, protects the passenger, and makes the video look more professional. Keep the helmetless, barefooted crap for Spring Break on the beach or something. It's common sense to me.
  20. Why does Perris not use the USPA A license proficiency card?
  21. I agree. It looks like your group flew back under the jump run. Why did you not get out last (or early and first) and track 45 degrees away from the jump run for the entire dive?
  22. I will agree with Stacy, but with a caveat: "if they run a decent student program." There are some very nice dropzones out there, both turbine and otherwise, that run what I consider second-rate schools. "Student mills" if you will. If the school does not have a comprehensive program to take your friend all the way to the A-license level, then they are shorting you. If a school tells you that you are "done" after seven (or nine) AFF levels, then they are bullshitting you. If the school does not explain to you and use (and show you) the USPA A license proficiency card from day one of your training, then they are bullshitting you. On the "money is no object" note: I would positively take advantage of any program that utilizes the wind tunnel for gaining fundamentals. Chuck
  23. The bombdiggity. I second that. Mine is bad-ass.
