  1. Any type of tracking pant is going to be more effective when worn over the legstraps.
  2. A riser turn can be a hook turn as can a toggle turn. In general terms, semantics aside, a hook turn is an agressive, speed-inducing turn that culminates with you flying in ground effect just before touching down. All such turns are "hook turns" in old school verbage. If it's "snappy", it's a hook turn.
  3. John was on the road last weekend, but I took his girlfriend on her first two AFF jumps at Raeford in his absence! She did great and actually did her Cat C1 (first release dive) as well that day. I still have not gotten around to teaching that mass wingsuit class. Chuck
  4. You fixed half of it; it still says "to" instead of "too."
  5. Velo 84 at 2.06 Sabre2 97 at 1.8
  6. what to you mean by "to hat?" Do you mean "tOO hOt?"
  7. I can promise you that you are not going to notice any difference in flight characteristics with a sticker on top of your wing. Take the sponsor money/perk and just do it.
  8. Hey Chris, why not apply those stickers and take promo pics with them on while you are posing on the ground. Hell, if they fly off mid-flight who gives a crap if the sponsor is going to hook you up! As to sticker residue, you might have some but that suit isn't going to last forever anyway, is it?
  9. That's great, Chris. Have fun (and get better smoke next time).
  10. Anyone in the military would know that white "M-18 HC" would be incredibly dumb to jump.
  11. What will happen, Erk, if you do not stow the end of the cable is that it will get all scraped up and potentially snag and fail to release if and when you ever DO need it. Do you follow me? If you can't get it in the keeper, just do like Jarno said (and exactly what I do) and just stick it beside your shoe in the bootie. Chuck
  12. My wife Katie is supposed to be going out there for that one as well.
  13. That's a good way to put it, Dave. It's great being right there as they are whooping and hollering and such. Being right there after the canopy opens and asking them "wasn't that GREAT?!" I love all forms of instructing, but I get the most "instant gratification" from tandems. Chuck
  14. What he is contemplating is a used, cheap suit.
  15. At most places, there is no "requirement" to provide stills, Matt. There is certainly no reason to start jumping stills right away as you are learning, that's for sure. I used to shoot a lot of four-way video 15 years ago, then went nearly that long without a camera on my head. Now it's pretty odd that I don't have my camera on. I jump it for all the AFF jumps I do, all the wingsuit stuff, and I get pulled into tandem video rotation when Tony needs me. You know I jump an Optik Illusion with a PC-109 side-mounted on an L-bracket. I didn't like the available D-box sticking out nearly an inch past the camera, so I don't jump my camera "enclosed." I think the FF2 is a really nice "enclosed" side-mount and I like the Rawa as well. If I were looking for least amount of snag potential of the two I would get the FF2. Katie jumps one and really likes it. As to flying camera, what you need to work on are three things: -"head awareness": flying your body around your head so that you keep the subject in frame. -ability to fly your slot in close proximity to the subject from exit to pull time without washing all around. -vertical range. The ability (by means of dressing for success and flying ability) to pop up and fly very slow and also do what you have to do to speed up very fast. This is especially true for tandems. You are going to need to have to get the camera setup and start jumping it for "fun" to get your skill-set up. Since you do a tremendous amount of wingsuit stuff, I can tell you that it's one of the more difficult things to film. Get good at keeping fellow wingsuiters in frame until you are happy with the results you get and then you will find other stuff a piece of cake. Chuck
  16. Hey Jason, that's what it looked exactly like last year during Mardi Gras for sure! Hooty HOO!
  17. squirt yourself with a hose pipe or just go stand in a cool shower for a bit.
  18. Any body shop ought to be able to accommodate you. Smart business would be to call a custom bike shop and ask who does their paint. We, as luck would have it, have two artists here at Raeford dropzone available to us who both do outstanding work.
  19. I believe it's the exact same team, only this year they will be sponsored by The Discovery Channel
  20. Nice one, Gimpy! I vote for "Sit on my face Stevie Nicks" by The Rotters.
  21. Actually, he said that he will be retiring AFTER the next Tour, win or lose. The press thing was just live on The Outdoor Network.
  22. The rig is fine, but you can keep the cheesy z-bracket lift kit on that poor Club Car! Tell the owner to put a proper lift kit on that thing!
  23. This meet is finalized. Lyle will be there first thing Saturday morning setting up two practice courses for competitors wanting to practice and those considering competing. Lyle will be instrumental in helping Dave and I get this first meet conducted properly. Volunteers are still needed for the day of the meet. Chuck
  24. I would just prime the pins and run a gutted 550 lanyard far enough up my leg that I could reach it either on the step or right after exit. Are you planning on using M-18 smoke or "cold" smoke?
