  1. Nancy's suits are the highest quality freefly suits I have ever seen (although not the only high quality suit available). Also the most expensive, but you get what you pay for. Nancy's stuff is the absolute standard! Katie and I paid a ton for ours, but man are they worth it! You can see mine twice in Parachutist this month. Chuck
  2. That's how many times my picture is in this month's parachutist. Katie is in there twice. All are in the SkyFest article. Damn, we're sexy. Chuck
  3. Like I said: a longer recovery arc. A longer recovery arc means you canopy is going to naturally build more speed in a dive/turn and also maintain it much longer.
  4. Longer risers give you a longer recovery arc.
  5. Like Tonto said. I was a staunch proponent of triple risers for a very long time. The added "feel" I got and the additional tail spread afforded by them made for a very "connected" flight. The main problem with trips comes when you fly rears to land. They create a "pop" in your airfoil when you transition from rears back to toggles. They allow this because the guide ring is not there on the rear riser anymore. Normally, when you flare rears outward to the sides (like the great majority of us do) it also pulls the tail down a tad. When you release the rears, you keep your hands out to the sides and the brakelines slack is taken up automatically by the guide ring when the riser deflects back inline with your 3-rings and the canopy over your head. When you release your rears with trips, the slack just "pops" and you must flare harder in order to maintain the same flight level. Also, it's entirely possible to miss your rear and, instead, grab your triple riser when you are transitioning to rears. It's just more stuff to get tangled up with. Anyway, if you don't ever land on rears, then I think triple risers are beneficial. This, though, assuming you pull your slider completely down every time. If you do not pull your slider down, then triple risers are useless. Chuck

    burned out

It's really easy to burn out, bro. I have been there and done that several times in 24 years of jumping. You don't need the old "you're a tourist till you have been jumping ten years" line do you? Ultimately, you have to do what you want to stay happy. It truly did me good for a few years to get away from it and only make like two trips a year to the DZ. Eventually, the sport will either draw you back or it won't. It always drew me back. If work jumps are all that was keeping you in the air, then you probably do need a break. Don't sweat it either way, bro. Seriously. It's not going to kill you to take it easy. Via con dios, Chuck PS: you didn't even recognize me at SkyFest, fool!
  7. Very high-end coordinated/matching gear choices. This is possible due to thier close proximity on the DeLand airport and the fact that they, I believe, use the same embroidery source (also on the airport). There are a few people, like Nancy, running around with these combos. They are incredibly stylish. Chuck
  8. Vladi flew a Velocity 84 with a tremendous amount of lead and "zoo" toggles on the front risers to lock them down into a steeper angle of attack. He landed the canopy every single time, even once when he could not release the front riser mechanism! Fucking nuts. Chuck
  9. Do what? I have already bought and paid for my tickets to this meet and was absolutely under the impression that this was going to count as a PST "currency" meet. I even said as much to you on the phone last night Jim and you did not correct me. I am not going to Nationals; this is the only meet I can make. You need to rethink that position. Chuck
  10. Should be able to make room.I am saving room for Chuck and Katie though. Nice, Spence!
  11. The way I read it, there are not going to be any "regular" courses setup at Pro height (5 footers). There will only be Standard category courses in the "regular" events for CPC competitors. Pros have a choice of several entirely different events to compete in. Dirt-water-dirt; carving accuracy, etc. Chuck
  12. Heard over the PA at Z-hills last New Years holiday: "Chris Spence is a homosexual"
  13. I have been excessively drunk with both Clay and Dave.
  14. Fuck the haircut; let it grow out.
  15. I am a nearly-42-year-old Military Contractor (currently with Northrop Grumman Misssion Systems) and professional skydiving instructor at Raeford Parachute Center, NC. I also vend and instruct on the road for BirdMan International. I get paid a pension for the rest of my life, as well, by Uncle Sam for spending 21 years, seven months in the US Army.

  19. Post more pics, Paul or I will ban you from the forum! Let's see it! Chuck
  20. You want to go to a boogie, Muffin?
  21. Likewise, I have passed on a few very-large AFF students when other, larger Instructors were around. It's a trade-off in that regard. I will generally always get the tiny AFF students on release dives and I don't mind hauling big passengers on tandems. Chuck
