Warm weather, blue skies, and great friends. Hence the travel to Sebastian for the holidays. I got my Voodoo2 that wasn't supposed to be done until Xmas. I'd be really happy if my Storm arrived soon. But most of all...just hangin' with people I like being around.

Greenies are aware, and trying to keep a lid on this person or whatever is sending em'. You're not the only one.

Obama must respond to Writ of Certiorari by December 1
DSE replied to BIGUN's topic in Speakers Corner
Those who know me... do not consider me to be a liberal... I don't know you, but I heard you've had your shots, so you likely aren't rabid, either. but just in case, please don't bite. -
Ya gotta LOVE that she specifies "Skydiving" in her commentary, and if you look really closely at some of the PIP background shots, you jus might recognize someone... (not me)
-
Well, it's so easy. All you gotta do is bring a white collar criminal to justice, save an innocent man on death row, pray in public to Allah pray to anything/anyone but white, blue-eyed, blonde Jesus , or choose not to carry a gun for lawful self defense, and the conservatives go all sorts of ballistic! For the other stupid stereotype. Fixed it for ya.

Sweet! Bring it to Sebastian with you for the holidays!

Obama must respond to Writ of Certiorari by December 1
DSE replied to BIGUN's topic in Speakers Corner
So...a Confederate flag on a four wheel drive pickup with gun racks in 'Bama carries the same context as a Confederate flag in a history book? A child's game of "hangman" carries the same context as a hangman's noose hung in the tree in front of the White House? "Niggardly"=cheap, petty, meager (adjective) "Nigger"=a racial slur, regardless of it's origins. Sickening to see someone make a pathetic attempt to compare contexts. Shakepeare made liberal (and correct) use of the former, I doubt he'd use the latter. Words are weapons of mass destruction. There will always be fools attempting to use them like BB guns. Some how "I'm gonna kill you" from a 5 year old to his playmate lacks the same vehemence as George Bush saying the same to Saddam. It's all in the context, but ironic that context only matters when it fits an agenda. -
If you want to make another post which can be later referenced as a separate link, by all means, feel free. Consider this a "contest" of sorts, there will be a community-chosen winner, and there will be a prize.

In case you didn't notice, YouTube went from a 4:3 aspect ratio (which required widescreen to be letterboxed) to a widescreen format today. So... If you want great widescreen, I recommend you upload your vids as 640 x 360 instead of the former 640 x 480. I personally use a 2Mbps stream average with a 4Mbps max, in an MP4 container. You might use a wmv file at 3Mbps to match. They still do not allow direct delivery of Flash. Very happy to see this, as it cuts down on YouTube encode times. If you have 4:3 video up already, or if you are still recording 4:3, then YouTube now correctly pillarboxes the media. The above setting will assure a full screen view of the content. Hope this helps anyone who plays in the land of YouTube.

Skydiving Movie Proposal (First Draft)
DSE replied to downplay's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Not to mention that a screenplay rarely is pitched as a finished work, and *no* studio will accept an unsolicited script. Ever. For this very reason. Downplay, if you *really* wanna play with this, buy a copy of Final Draft. It won't help much with the creative process, but it does help you quickly understand the developmental, presentation, formatting, blocking, etc. Expensive, but it's the standard of the industry these days. Has really useful templates for television, film, corporate, multicamera, etc. Quade is spot-on, as usual. It ain't as easy as everyone seems to think. If it were easy, everyone would be doing it. -
Depends ENTIRELY on the wingsuiter and his ability to fly a rodeo. I've flown camera on wingsuiters where I was just fine wearing wings, and flown camera on rodeos where the wingsuiter was tearing it up and the 'cowboy/cowgirl' was down low and I needed a wingsuit to keep up. A guy like Burble Mike can really tear it up across the sky regardless of what's on his back. Did you know we've created a new rating? Rodeo Whore -001 Rodeo Whore -002 RW-003 All in honor of Purple Mike, king of the wingsuit rodeo.
-
I'm *really* disappointed that I couldn't be there. I'm on travel, and between the wingsuit stuff and production schedules... Looking forward to pix from you guys, Gus, etc.

As we've seen many new camera flyers join the sky this year, and as the vets have watched them... What sorts of safety issues have you seen? What sorts of safety problems have you resolved? When flying with tandems, what are your top three "Do's and Don'ts?" In a way...this is a test. There will be a reward at the end of the process.

Everything looks good at 320 x 240, even 12.5fps

Is there a list of who is going to Florida for the holidays? Very tempting to trade my time in Eloy over the holidays for Florida, depending on who is heading that way. Hell Monkey...if you won't be in Eloy, whose helmet will I borrow?

*You* are the one that classified RED as a "hobbyist camera" in your post above. As far as the Scarlet, it's hard to be "against" something that doesn't exist, and was yet another "take-out" marketing attempt on the part of Jim Jannard. "Don't buy any camera til you see ours!" so the market slows down. Then at about the time the Scarlet is scheduled for release, it is announced that it's "dropped and undergoing a brand new design, but DON'T BUY A CAMERA TIL WE TELL YOU HOW COOL OUR REDESIGN IS!" It harms the market, it keeps people confused. Panasonic is another great "take out" marketing company. I'm not passionately against RED or Scarlet, I'm passionately against people getting ripped off or drinking marketing Koolaid. What is ironic about your statement is that you're arguing for support of a product you've never seen, touched, nor seen a frame of video from, yet you feel I'm "passionately" opposed to it. Scarlet currently, is vaporware. RED currently, is a half-functioning camera per their own original announcement 3 years ago. If you can support that business model, I've got some really cool timeshares on the beach in downtown Des Moines.
-
Scarlet...? Oh yeah, that's the camera named for the color of Jim's face whenever anyone brings up the delivery or functionality of the RED. (couldn't resist). Scarlet is currently vaporware. RED definitely isn't for a hobbyist. Sorry, but it's absurd to think so. NO hobbyist is spending 40K on a camera setup. At that price, SI2K blows RED outta the water. At 25K, SI2K blows RED out of the water, and it actually functions, completely and correctly, and doesn't burn the operator, either. To keep folks from missing the context of the thread, neither RED, the SI2K, or the not-yet-seen Scarlet are HD cameras, they're all a higher resolution acquisition system. If you're a "hobbyist" that wants a high end camera setup, Iconix and SI2K bodypack are the way to fly, IMO. Smaller, lighter, and the damn thing works. As advertised. The thread has meandered a bit, but the answers are right here. HD at the bottom to top: AVCHD camcorder HDV camcorder XDCAM EX camcorder Iconix/2K. Price points from 500.00 to 27,000.00 JumpWally, a "plate" is a compositing layer, sometimes there are a lot of plates shot to build a composite. For example, if you're chromakeying someone into a shot, you'll need a background plate, a foreground plate, a reflective plate, and so forth. Think of them as 'transparency layers" that may or may not contain movement. A couple DZ.commers are compositing artists, which means they layer these plates together, sometimes inserting animations, motion graphics, or live-action into these layers, tracking camera moves, shadows, lighting effects, etc. Hope that helps?

Do we hafta spank? I was just getting to the point where I think Krisanne likes me Happy birthday, Krisanne! may it be the best ever. Something tells me it just might be that with Monkey nearby.

Couldn't been a more deserving guy, Fozz. Very happy for you. See what happens to a real-life ditch digger? You rock, bruddah.

yeah, I had read it, I happened to respond to you vs him. Even the articles linked make mention of the original technology. I'd sure like to get overseas and try Jester's peroxide jetpack for ankles on a wingsuit.
-
Widgery developed both companies, not the technology. He also developed the carbon fiber storage system, based entirely on the government/Bell designs of the late 50's, early 60's. (couldn't resist Google).

Apparently you're wrong. It was a major factor in the media, a major factor in the last election, and continues to be a major factor in the minds of a lot of people.
