After implant removal, your doctors will probably require at least 90 days and perhaps even six months before thinking about skydiving or other potentially high impact activity. No matter what, your doctors will be able to tell you how fast and well your body is healing. Everyone has different speeds at which they can heal, up to a point.

The "grid method" of judging wingsuit flocks is being presented to the FAI at the IPC conference in a couple of weeks. http://www.fai.org/parachuting/system/files/ipc_2010_agenda.pdf Let your delegates know how you feel about the grid being implemented on an international level. Note that this isn't being offered with a trial period, but rather immediate implementation.

haven't had smoke trigger anything, but have had nitrates from fertilizer trigger it. Be careful about putting your rig down in grass that has been fertilized recently.

It starts next Monday in San Diego. Not a whole lot of people attending.

check this mini Red camera prototype, the Scarlet.. Late Spring release
DSE replied to sloow's topic in Photography and Video
yes. This is the THIRD time the camera has been announced. If it's like the RED itself, it might be shipping (in quarter-functional form) by July 2012. Seriously, it'll come out, and probably on time. But anyone who buys one of the initial cameras is a fool, IMO. Just like those that bought the first RED One when it was announced (I was one of the fools). Taken it four years of maturity, but it's now a viable, usable camera of sorts. I expect the Scarlet to be somewhat similar. -
recording to a card and dumping to a storage device is easiest dumping to computer/thumbdrives is easiest, IMO.

I wonder if you'll apologize when you re-read the three related posts a little more slowly and realize what was actually being said. I'm actually very impressed with your work. ~the "almighty" DSE.

No doubt. Vista sucks. Win7 doesn't. It's "different." But... if you think Apple is gonna speed up your video editing... it'll slow it down. Significantly. Especially if you're coming from Premiere or Vegas. Mac is sexier, some things easier, several things harder. Everything copies, so be prepared to run out of disc space fast when editing photos or videos. I wish a PC company could build a laptop as solid as a Mac. At the end of the day, they're all just tools. If the Mac is the right tool for your job....great. It's not for me, which is why I'm still about 60% PC and 40% Mac.

zoom in a fraction if you're not liking the vignette. It's cheap glass, and a single element piece. Therefore, somewhat expected.

Vegas should import any audio format just fine, excepting AAC that has DRM wrappers (Apple doesn't like their copy protection to be thwarted). MP3, Ogg, Mpeg 2, FLAC, ALAC, Monkey, AIFF, mpc, au, and awb are all formats that Vegas will open.

you mean the ones you were supposed to recycle ? :-) For this sort of anaglyphic 3d, you need the blue/red

it is crazy simple. We even won an award from a Funeral Director's Association for how easy it allows the process to be.

- His profile doesn't say he's wingsuiting. Your profile says you love to BASE, but I'd wager you don't/haven't. Perhaps that's what he's working towards. - Doesn't say he's flying the camera either (although he probably is) - This ain't Bonfire.

StillMotion or Ultimate S will create those slide shows for you. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nMwlBqFG9rY

use the VASST StillMotion, Ultimate S, or Production Assistant to automatically generate a motion slide show, of up to 9,999 photos. It takes about 6 seconds...

for a moment there, I thought maybe Jerry Mathers had died.

Then you're using the wrong editing software. Downloads from Vimeo are either WMV or MP4 in most instances, both of which are easily edited with any current editing software.

That's almost worthy of being a sig line. Sad thing is, often the magnified "stupid" is the ignoramus that thinks he's gonna strap on a camera at 50 jumps "just to shoot my skydive."
-
If they'd read the sticky, your "why 200 jumps" is linked in there, too.

Alton, is the Sil you're jumping a purple one from SDU? If so, that's my old canopy. I really like the Sil a lot. It was recommended to me by a couple military guys, and that model served me well for several hundred jumps. The new Pilots are very nice too, but one thing I found is that the Silhouette can be a little more forgiving. However, I only have about a dozen jumps on a Pilot, vs several hundred on Silhouettes ranging from 210's to 150's. Gonna be a tough choice, and I'd recommend demo'ing both for a little bit.

I have a couple, both in towers, not in externals, and never have tried to use one on the Mac side, simply because Apple hasn't supported BD. iMovie doesn't support 1920...

look at the Wingsuit channel on Vimeo. It's FULL of HD video clips. And many of them can be downloaded.

Thanks for the input, everyone. I'm not a rigger (yet). The rigger I'm learning from asked me what I felt should be done and I wanted to see if opinions in general matched my response. Always good to have a "conversation" with those who have experience.
