  1. It's small enough. I haven't jumped the Panny. Their camera division manager doesn't like me much. Phillip is the DSLR video king? Good to know.
  2. RED is cheap. We have one. More than a couple skydivers own one. One of the forum members here is a tech cat for this camera. Set up isn't any different overall than for any other camera. Shutter speed and aperture are the same concept. There are some gamma and raw things to know... What specifically is the question?
  3. You say that as though a 4/3 camera hasn't been jumped yet.
  4. So... did you talk to Sony at NAB? What makes you think they're gonna respond to this camera (they kinda already did with the Alpha announcement)? Did you see the 3D rig with the beamsplitter? now...just use a little creative thot...
  5. http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/731509-REG/Panasonic_AG_AF100_AG_AF100_Micro_Four_Thirds.html Me...I wouldn't buy one just yet but I know some folks here are interested. November 8...that's the day to watch for something exciting.
  6. To answer all three points of your question; The OP is asking about a Sigma lens, indicating (I suspect) that price is an important variable. Not everyone can afford higher grade glass, so what is the next best option? The zoom is heavier, more costly (if staying comparable). If cost isn't an issue, then of course...you're entirely correct.

    New PF Ripoff?

And so with a post from a spoof user of the site, the Brand Wars once again break out. Grog: "I invented the wheel, you copied me." Bolla: "You pushed a rock down a hill. I made the sides flat" Ock: "I put a stick in the middle for my hands to hold while my boyfriend pushes me around the cave." Jugg: I stamped !@#$ on the side so you all owe me a royalty for using my brand of wheel." Or something like that. Early caveman recordings are kinda garbled. I almost wonder if the spoof user list of this site exceeds the actual user number?
  8. The above statement makes no sense if I'm reading it right. The 15mm isn't a fisheye on an APSC, and not sure that anyone wrote that it was? I think I mentioned it's a 24mm lens (which is what goes on a 5D for me anyway). To the OP, 15mm on 90% of the bodies used for skydiving will not be a fisheye, BMFin is correct. If you're looking for a fisheye lens for *most* tandem work, I'd recommend re-thinking.
  9. Same sensor. Not same processing, not same points, either. But both are terrific cams
  10. I prefer the Canon 15mm as well, faster and the non-worm drive performs better. However....the OP's question was about the Sigma so I avoided derailing the thread (for a change). On an APSC camera, there isn't a gross fish-eye effect anyway, not at a relative value of 24mm (which I feel is great for tandems on a non-APSC cam body)
  11. hmm.. Yahoo weather must not be over my door (I'm sitting on my steps having my mornin' coffee). Not raining here (but marine layer hasn't lifted yet either). Def some nice canopy piloting in the XRW stuff.
  12. I anticipate a detour to Boston area when we're shooting in DC, last week of November/first week of Dec. You won't be jumpin, but we can go grab a meal. You'd best head west. Weather is beautiful in Elsinore.
  13. for general use, I'm more partial to the 15mm overall. The weight difference is a consideration too.
  14. You are 110% correct. Enthusiasm, the smile, the feeling of accomplishment at the end of the jump cannot be quantified with numbers. Numbers merely provide a benchmark for that individual's own reference. Congrats, Mike. You had a jump that is memorable, exciting, and different from previous jumps. You'll have more.

    XRW 2

Paid to post on DZ.com? C'mon...no one is making enough money in this sport to pay anyone to do something so trivial. True, some people will kill (and have) for publicity in this sport, but I seriously doubt money is crossing palms.

    New PF Ripoff?

Sweet! Your second post! Is that you Tony, or Jeff? You forgot "Donna."
  17. At slightly over half a pound plus an already heavy 15mm lens...it's heavy (to me) for an all day camera. But...to each his own. I do jump mine for select jumps.
  18. Search the forums? It's heavy, and IMO, silly as a standard jump camera. I have two. And jump a T2i most of the time
  19. if price and not quality are the determining factor, and since great flying isn't part of the discussion, I recommend an iPhone or iPod.
  20. let's please stick with the three Drift threads out there already?
  21. This is the premise from which they're operating. His first suit caused many of the professional broadcast forums to force users to post links rather than quotes.
  22. you comin' to the grave-dancing event? Scotty is organizing.
  23. you are so full of shit. It was all about the free bagels n' coffee for you :-) Thanks for helping out when I needed my model. You're more handsome than Laszlo is, but he has that cool hat and accent. Was a good time in NYC having some skydiving peeps attend the training and panels.
  24. I've looked the hangar over well, Jeff...nada. Pulled all my WS out to take em' to S'nore...nada.
  25. Tuesday is usually the "off" day at S'nore. Wed-Sun usually quite a few loads, but Perris is def more active on the Tues/Wed.
