I have a couple of jumps on the silhouette 190 at a wingloading of 1.1..It's a very fun canopy..great turns and a powerfull flare. I think it's a great first canopy. I have only demoed a silhouette and a aerodyne pilot so that's my only reference. I noticed that I got a better flare from the Silhouette then from the Pilot (I couldn't stall the pilot with my steering lines though so prob the lines were just too long to get a better flare??). _______________________________________

I emailed relative workshop, mirage and Aerodyne for some questions I had about my rig I'm planning to buy. Hello, I'm thinking about buying a used rig at a great price. The rig was made for someone who is 1.73m and 76 kg. I'm however 1.89 and 83 kg. Is there any chance this rig will fit me properly or shouldn't I even think about it twice? I'm not in the position to just try the rig out as I saw it on the internet (not in my country). Thanks for the advice _______________________________________

This is my last color scheme. Am planning to order my canopy tomorrow. I have brought it down to two options. Which do you like more? _______________________________________

too white for me.. "My personal fav tho is something in purple/black/silver. So how come I always end up with baby colors?!" Freud talks about the 'Ich' 'UberIch' (en nog meer onzin wat ik effe vergeten ben). Some people might say that probably on a subconscious level you have delibrately chosen this color-combination with the desire to return to your early childhood...I'm not saying that of course _______________________________________

Hello Saskia, Yes, I noticed that...I saw four of them flying around the last time. I don't think I like to be the fifth. Do you have any suggestions? I also have this one but am not sure how this will look in real fabric.. _______________________________________

I can't decide on a color scheme..what do you think of these two choices...do you have any other suggestions? Like blue with some bright colors.. _______________________________________

Hello, I'm going to buy a new container soon but am not sure as to order it with or without a narrow chest strap (1 inch). What are the advantages or disadvantages (if there are any)? Or is it just a matter of looks? Some info would be appreciated...Thanks _______________________________________

How about next AFF jump you face the inside of the plane and just let go. Don't arch and you will fall on your back. It's fun to watch the aircraft fly away and see the instructor jumping after you. You will see that it's very easy to turn over , even when you're not at terminal velocity yet. Besides arching hard you could pull in one arm. This could help you turn over. Talk to your instructor about exiting the plane backwards. You don't waste any time with the exit so you can still do all the tasks required in a level 7 jump. Your instructors at your DZ are the best place for advice. _______________________________________

urgent - Texel/ Hilversum/ Teague: any jumps next week?
Fab replied to Kuper's topic in Events & Places to Jump
just checked some schedules for you. You can't get to texel anymore at that time if you use public transport and will leave at 20:00 from schiphol. last possible departure is 19:30 from schiphol. Train (intercity) to den helder. Then bus 33 to 'steiger tesoboot'. Then take the boat to texel. travel time appr. 2.5 hours. _______________________________________ -

Fab replied to Kuper's topic in Events & Places to Jump
People will probably be jumping next week. The weather forcast isn't too good though for next week. About 50% chance of having rain each day of the week. Take your rig with you and hope for the best. Weather forcast here in holland aren't to reliable to begin with anyway _______________________________________ -
reply]If you're in the air, you aren't grounded, so the lightening might hit you, but the current isn't going to pass through your body. Nothing bad happens to planes when they get hit. Lightening strikes take the easiest way to a lower potential (like the earth/ground/plane) I'm not so sure you are right. Planes are designed (as far as I know) to let the charge from a lightening strike flow off an aircraft by tiny winglets so to say. I'm sure lightening strikes have the potential to damage a plane one way or the other. I'm not 100% sure but to my knowledge it is possible to see where a lightening strike hit an airplane (burning mark/dent??). I know planes are getting hit a lot and people on board won't probably even know it but if you're skydiving I'm not so sure it's safe. As a skydiver You don't have a conductive shell around you (cage of Faraday) to protect you like on a plane. If you were to get hit, I imagine you would probably be in the path of the strike. For instance from cloud to earth..Otherwise I don't think there is a reason for the strike to hit you. The discharge is then flowing through you (to the ground for instance). I'm pretty sure you won't like the experience. Another thing...you don't have to be in direct contact to the ground to get zapped. The air itself can act as a conductive path (...how else do lightening strikes happen). If the voltage difference is great enough between two points (appr. 3000 V/mm in air) there will be a discharge (read strike). _______________________________________

hmmm...I thought he said ONLY reflected light is blocked by polaroid...which is not true because light that is not reflected is also being filtered through polaroid _______________________________________

Didn't I just said the same thing? _______________________________________
