    mental breakdown

hehe...thanks... Maybe I should have mentioned in my first post that the weather in the last 3 weeks just sucks...it's completely fogged over..low level clouds, rain and no sign of improvement in the next 10 days. I'm moving to another country...Australia sounds nice.. _______________________________________

    mental breakdown

Yello, I'm beginning to think that I might be getting 'addicted' to skydiving. It has been 3 whole weeks now since I last jumped and thats far too long ago for my taste. I have never had such a long break in 5 months. Stupid stupid weather (it's winter here now). I was planning of taking a short winterbreak and only make a few jumps here and there to stay current but I somehow think I need more...Lots more..I'm experiencing withdrawal symptoms... Is this mental state of mine considered to be normal? .... Damn...I wish it was summer again... _______________________________________
  5. 35 usd is actually very cheap. Here in holland I pay 75 euros for a repack (1 euro is 1.3 USD). _______________________________________
  6. Nice rig and a very good choice for your main chute (as I ordered the same
  7. Why would you ask that? I ordered an icon myself but hope it will be exactly as I ordered it and fits me like a glove.... Did you have any problems? _______________________________________

  10. hmm....This is starting to be a pointless discussion if I may be so bold. Airman's opinion is obviously not going to change so why not close the subject? I'm starting to see some agression here...Can't we all just get along? *Edited because not everyone can see the humor appearantly* _______________________________________
  11. Wow...that fast????!!!! Man...I wish I progressed like that...It only took two years for me bottemline....don't worry about it....and ignore your friends..there is no such thing as 'a sign'... _______________________________________

  13. ** I like the 170 and I know I can learn to land it fairly easily. ** Well..there is your answer...With 50 jumps a wingloading of 1.1 isn't too much. I myself started jumping a 1.1 at jump 46. I think you will regret the 190 now you have jumped the 170 and liked it so much. You're instructors say that you will be fine under a 170. If you feel you will be fine/safe too under that canopy...then go for it... You could rent a 190 a few jumps to master your flare on that one....then you will be able to land the 170 probably a bit better though _______________________________________

  16. yep..you are right...but I made my order a special custom order..so my container will be unique
  17. Dark blue and black doesn't look good together I think (personal opinion)...but your rig looks quite a bit like mine....Icon is soooo sweet :) _______________________________________
  18. Here's mine...hoping to make my first jump on it in January
  19. I agree...don't buy stuff new so soon. I ordered my first (and brand new) rig at around 100 jumps with a wingload of 1.25 - 1.3...and I can still downsize in this rig. Buy something you will enjoy for a while.... _______________________________________
  20. clouds are fun...can't wait to accidently fly into one again ... _______________________________________
  21. have flown both but like the pilot more...that's just a personal choice....I hear people saying that the pilot has nicer openings then the sabre2..sabre2 is a little more elliptical then the pilot I think... Have you demoed both canopies? Which do you prefer? They are both good chutes... _______________________________________

  23. you can check the bpa for that... http://www.bpa.org.uk REVISION TRAINING 3.1. Any Student Parachutist who does not complete his/her first descent within 48 hours of completing the Basic Training System Syllabus must be given some form of revision training, as directed by the CCI. This is to be recorded on/in the Student Parachutist’s Training Record Card/Log Book. 3.2. Until the first five descents have been completed Student Parachutists must receive revision training prior to their first descent of the day. This is to be recorded on/in the Student Parachutist’s Training Record Card/Log Book. 3.3. Should a gap of a maximum of one calendar month elapse since the last recorded Revision Training Session, a practical and theoretical assessment (including exits and malfunctions) must be undertaken and if appropriate a written examination. This is to be recorded on/in the Student Parachutist’s Training Record Card/Log Book. 3.4. Should a gap of a maximum of three calendar months elapse since the last recorded Revision Training Session, a full basic training syllabus must be revised. The duration of this training will be at the discretion of the instructor. This is to be recorded on/in the Student Parachutist’s Training Record Card/Log Book. RESTRICTIONS FOLLOWING A LAY-OFF Where a Student or Intermediate Parachutist has had a lay-off of two months or more, approval of the CCI must be obtained as to the type of descent to be made next. _______________________________________
  24. I jumped a student manta 280 today. Normally I'm jumping a pilot 168 and my landing are always good but I just 'crashed' my landing on the 280 today. I flared as I was used to on my pilot 168 (started a few feet above the ground but canopy just didn't respond to my flare). People on the ground said I flared too late (I always started my flare at this altitude). I flared all the way before i hit the ground and the canopy didn't even slowed down a bit. Giving advise on how to flare a (old) student chute based on you're own experience on a modern chute is a littly tricky to say the least :). Best advice I think you could give is to practise flaring up high and get a feel for it by doing it a lot. I always have practised flaring up high when under a new (and smaller chute) but somehow forgot to do this today...Probably because the chute was huge and wasn't expecting a problem with it. Must say though that this chute was just terrible...I have never landed such a lousy student chute... _______________________________________
