I blew an eardrum years ago, as a result of jumping while I had a head cold. It took four days to finally rupture, and was very painful for a couple of weeks. My hearing in that ear took months to get back to normal, but I have been skydiving, and SCUBA diving actively for 30 years, and 12 years respectively, and have had no residual effects. That being said, absolutely ask your ENT; and opt for a static-line (much lower altitude) if (s)he won't bless it. Sundance: (chuckling) "You just keep thinkin' Butch...that's what yer good at."
