  1. Sometimes when I am hungover I'll jump in a cold shower. It doesn't really cure the hangover, but it makes me forget about it for a little while. --------------------------------------------------- http://www.myspace.com/rave4funn
  2. If you pack it yourself, you have control of the packjob. If you want to pack for a snivel, I can tell you how to do so (I can also tell you how to get a "docile" canopy to slam the snot out of you). If you have someone else do it, I am not sure that I am all that sympathetic. You pays your money, and you takes your chances. Blue skies, Winsor The first person who packed it for me has never packed me a hard opening and says she didnt do anything different. The second person who packed it is a master rigger and swears there is no way it should have opened that hard. Two jumps, two really hard openings, twice something broke on my brand new canopy, two differtent packers- Could it be that they both packed a really hard opening? Maybe. Maybe, I should pack it myself and hope that my next opening doesnt really injures me. I am looking for possible causes/ solutions. I am not looking for sympathy, but thanks. --------------------------------------------------- http://www.myspace.com/rave4funn
  3. I just don't understand what could be happening. You would think after 130 jumps I could deploy a parachute without hurting myself. Also, since I had 25 beautiful openings on my canopy how there might be something wrong with it...I am so frustrated. --------------------------------------------------- http://www.myspace.com/rave4funn
  4. It looked like you were shaking your head no right before you exited.
  5. Last load of last weekend I had a really hard opening on my Spectre 210. It broke three lines and I had to cut it away. First load of this weekend I have an obnoxiously hard opening that ripped the metal ring that my steering line goes through off of my riser. It was a solo jump (I didnt track), I spent the entire jump on my belly, and I slowed down as much as I could before deploying. My toggle proceeds to flip through some of my other lines. I manage to reach my toggle and land without too much of a problem. The opening hurt my back really bad. I couldn't jump my rig because I have to get my rigger to sew that ring back on. However, I was hurting too bad to jump the rest of the weekend anyway. My rigger is going to recheck all of the lines, but he said with only 25 or so jumps on the canopy the should all still be in trim. I don't know what the damn problem is. One of our instructors offered to jump it next weekend, but if it is a problem with the canopy or whatever I am reluctant to put someone else in the position to possibly injure themselves. I know I am nervous to jump it again. Some people are telling me that there is no way this should be happening and I need to contact PD and send them my main back. What do you think? P.S. two different people packed it for the last two jumps. --------------------------------------------------- http://www.myspace.com/rave4funn
  6. I'd say reasonable is no more than six hours. --------------------------------------------------- http://www.myspace.com/rave4funn
  7. I take it that you mean his King Air also? --------------------------------------------------- http://www.myspace.com/rave4funn
  8. The weather looks like it might be crappy this weekend around here. My buddies and I are thinking about just jumping in the car and heading to another dropzone. We are thinking about Mike Mullins place in Tennessee. Anybody got any other ideas within reasonable driving distance? We would be leaving from New Orleans. I did a tandem at that DZ in Tennessee back in about '99. I have a buddy that jumped there a couple of months ago and said it was a beautiful dropzone. --------------------------------------------------- http://www.myspace.com/rave4funn
  9. hahaha!!!!! I am going to have to use that one. --------------------------------------------------- http://www.myspace.com/rave4funn
  10. A buddy of mine edited the clip for me. You can't really see all that much except for the nose on the right hand side bowed up. You can tell when I go for my handles because I start to go into a spin. Things I kick myself for: 1. I should have cut that away quicker. I was trying to fly it straight and deciding if I could land it. I took too long. 2. I checked my altimeter as soon as I was under canopy, and I was right below 3K. I DID NOT check it again before I cut away. I knew I had enough altitude to cut away, but I should have checked. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UTd0iXipwSs --------------------------------------------------- http://www.myspace.com/rave4funn
  11. Congratulations. At least your rigger drinks Jack Daniels. I owe mine a bottle of Crown Royal. --------------------------------------------------- http://www.myspace.com/rave4funn
  12. These are some pictures from last Mardi Gras. My buddies and I have ice chest scooters that do about 13mph. They are equipped with Ipod docks, horns, and still hold over a case of beer. We dressed the scooters up with a horse head and tail. We mabe our own cowboy costumes, and we built covered wagons to tow along. --------------------------------------------------- http://www.myspace.com/rave4funn

    pick up lines

I always liked: "I may not be the best looking guy here, but I'm the only one talking to you." or "Girl, I would eat your p**** till I get full, and I can eat alot." or "Let me get that p****; I know you got it on you." I've never used any of these, but I used to encourage my buddies to try them. They never would. I can't figure out why not. --------------------------------------------------- http://www.myspace.com/rave4funn
  14. In my vast freefly experience (15ff jumps) I always jump in shorts and a long sleeve t-shirt. I am thinking of picking up a freefly suit to maybe slow me down a little bit. Apparently, I fall like a comet in a sit. --------------------------------------------------- http://www.myspace.com/rave4funn
  15. That is awsome!! I wish I could have started so early. If they stick with it, imagine how sick those kids will be when they are old enough to skydive. I'd take my brother, but I'd have to kidnap him to do it. I doubt my mom would allow to take him all the way to Florida and he is twelve.
  16. An hour drive is not bad trade to get to a better dropzone. There is a dropzone a lot closer to my house than my home DZ. Yet, I still find driving an extra hour each way much more rewarding than going to a dropzone that I do not like. If you don't like how it's run or the people there, don't go there. Just be thankful that you have another option within a reasonable distance. --------------------------------------------------- http://www.myspace.com/rave4funn
  17. Funny, last night I had a dream that I flew a wingsuit for the first time and landed it. Coincidence? I think so. --------------------------------------------------- http://www.myspace.com/rave4funn
  18. I misrouted my cheststrap this past weekend. I noticed my chestrap was loose around 12K. I realized what I had done. Thankfully, it made me paranoid and I started checking everyone around me on every load after that. Two loads later I noticed a girl on the plane had done the same thing. My buddies and I are back to doing complete gear checks on each other before we board the plane and again at around 10K. --------------------------------------------------- http://www.myspace.com/rave4funn
  19. After an obnoxiously hard opening, I feel myself going into a spin. I quickly release my brakes and pull my left toggle all the way down. This stopped he spin, but I am flying with my left toggle all the way down and the right all the way up to fly straight. My mouth is busted, I know I am bleeding, and I am hoping my teeth aren't loose!! I look up to see my canopy looks weird. Then I notice a couple broken lines. At this point I am pretty sure I need to chop this thing when I hear one of the best and most experienced jumpers at our dropzone yelling "CHOP IT!" (he was in the air also obviously and I was checking my airspace so I knew it was him). So, without hesitation, I released the toggles and went for my handles. As soon as I released the toggles my canopy started to go into a spin. I fly a Spectre 210 so it wasn't some kind of crazy fast spin. By the time it made about 180 degree turn I was cutting away. I have an RSL so I am not sure what actually deployed my reserve me or the RSL. I didn't keep my handles. However. My cutaway go caught in my arm even though I wasn't holding it. So, I was able to grab it once I was under my reserve. A bunch of guys were waiting to help me go look for my canopy and free bag. Thankfully we found both in about a half an hour. After examining the main it was determined that I broke three of my A lines on that hard opening. My entire set up only has approximately 20 jumps on it. So, it was not like the lines were worn. The guy who was yelling for me to chop it was videoing so I'll post a link to it in the next couple of days. P.S. I did not pack my rig. One of our newer packers packed it. Also, I am going to try and download the info off of my protrack. I am hoping that it will show my speed at deployment. I don't think I was falling any faster than normal. --------------------------------------------------- http://www.myspace.com/rave4funn
  20. I was 19 when I made my first tandem. Unfortunately I couldn't afford to star AFF until I was 25. --------------------------------------------------- http://www.myspace.com/rave4funn
  21. Neither of them had any intention of making more jumps. They made that clear in class. The guy had the attitude of he was not going to have a man strapped to him as if that would somehow emasculate him. So, he was not going to do a tandem. The man froze in the door for a long time. Once he decided to leave the plane, he didn't do anything in freefall. The instructors pulled his arm back at pull altitude (trying to at least get him to pull for himself) and he got his pilot chute out. He didn't release it for a while. His instructor flew back up to him and SMACKED it out of his hand. He landed uneventfully. I saw the video of his jump. His wife froze up out the door. If believe the instructors pulled for her. She didn't follow the radio instruction and went through a tree and broke her ankle I believe. --------------------------------------------------- http://www.myspace.com/rave4funn
  22. In my humble opinion, I suggest doing a tandem first. The reason being that I didn't enjoy my first few AFF jumps. I mean I KNEW that it was fun. I was jumping out of a plane; there is noway to not enjoy that. However, there was a lot more of a performance anxiety in AFF. A tandem gives you the ability to really enjoy freefall and work on some canopy control. To each his own; I've got friends who never did a tandem and breezed through AFF. P.S. (not having anything to do with this post)I hate the people who skip the tandem and go straight to AFF because they are "too cool" to be strapped to someone Someone in my AFF class had that attitude and he and his wife both failed miserably. A tandem probably wouldnt have fixed their stupidity. --------------------------------------------------- http://www.myspace.com/rave4funn
  23. That really wasn't all that bad for thirty jumps. Everyone was kind of close to each other and no one sunk out of the formation. Choosing somebody to fly base will help out a lot. --------------------------------------------------- http://www.myspace.com/rave4funn
  24. holy shit, that's impressive! --------------------------------------------------- http://www.myspace.com/rave4funn
