That is crazy awesome! "Good rule of thumb; is what you are doing the EASIEST for You? Because if it is, it ain't going to work for the people around you."

I have definitely seen this huge landing area in videos. Thanks for the reply everyone! Don't know what I'll choose, but every time I put in some more cash towards my account I get more and more excited!! "Good rule of thumb; is what you are doing the EASIEST for You? Because if it is, it ain't going to work for the people around you."

Hey all! Been looking at these forums for the last year and have done 2 tandems at SB and I'm hooked! Been looking at starting AFF for my bday coming up or maybe over the summer (depends on when I can save up the money for the entire course up front, so I can finish it on a weather bases instead of a money constraint ... Even though I know when I get addicted I'll always be in a money constraint!! ) I'm interested to hear people's experiences at Taft and Hollister that have gone through AFF there. They are about the same distance for me to travel to and want to see what everyone thinks about their programs. Thanks! "Good rule of thumb; is what you are doing the EASIEST for You? Because if it is, it ain't going to work for the people around you."

Oh Harsh! Haha "Good rule of thumb; is what you are doing the EASIEST for You? Because if it is, it ain't going to work for the people around you."

It better be $1.00!!! (seeing as I make my rent and bills as a bartender!) "Good rule of thumb; is what you are doing the EASIEST for You? Because if it is, it ain't going to work for the people around you."

Do you think most deaths come from trying to show off and getting involved in more technical, more advanced forms of skydiving? Or are some just 'freak' accidents? "Good rule of thumb; is what you are doing the EASIEST for You? Because if it is, it ain't going to work for the people around you."

Dang. . guessing don't get into it for the ladies! "Good rule of thumb; is what you are doing the EASIEST for You? Because if it is, it ain't going to work for the people around you."

Seems like this could fall into a bunch of 'extreme sports' categories. That is a great quote "Good rule of thumb; is what you are doing the EASIEST for You? Because if it is, it ain't going to work for the people around you."

Ha! This seems very true. Although I'd say your still in danger of making Newbie mistakes. "Good rule of thumb; is what you are doing the EASIEST for You? Because if it is, it ain't going to work for the people around you."

I think I made the mistake of "life expectancy" and "in the sport". I see where that comes from. That would be ridiculous for every 150 jumps. Makes me feel better ha! Thanks for the help "Good rule of thumb; is what you are doing the EASIEST for You? Because if it is, it ain't going to work for the people around you."

Hi. I am very very new to the sport of skydiving, infact I haven't made a jump yet, but im planning on doing AFF at the end of this summer. I'm not quite sure if this is in the right section, but was reading an article that talked about collisions and read a couple facts about life expectancy. something like 3 years or 150 jumps is the average? Then again some later time. And it got me thinking. . What are most of these fatalities or injuries due to? Is is that after that amount of jumps people tend to switch to a smaller chute and start doing more swooping? Is it because people get into more 3,4,5+ ways? Are they just freak accidents and non-openings? If someone jumps solo and stays with a big begginer chute and doesn't swoop are they less likely to have an accident? I'm sorry if I have a lot of questions and I know im complete whuffo, but I was really stoked to start AFF until I started looking at some of the statistics. And I know it's a dangerous sport and thats also one of the reasons people come back to it, because of the rush. But i was just curious on why some of these fatalities happen? Any advice, criticism, or help would be greatly appreciated and thanks! "Good rule of thumb; is what you are doing the EASIEST for You? Anyone living around the central coast http://groups.myspace.com/SkydiveSLO "Good rule of thumb; is what you are doing the EASIEST for You? Because if it is, it ain't going to work for the people around you."

so, are you allowed to do this? have the pilot go some miles away from the DZ for the drop? is that the cross country jump you guys are talking about? or do they have to stay a certain miles from the DZ legally? "Good rule of thumb; is what you are doing the EASIEST for You? Because if it is, it ain't going to work for the people around you."

ha! yeah easy. . thanks! that was pretty awesome and great info. answered my question to a T "Good rule of thumb; is what you are doing the EASIEST for You? Because if it is, it ain't going to work for the people around you."

i know that there would be a lot of factors going into this such as wind, canopy size, etc. . but if you hop-n-popped at say 14k and maybe had some wind your way, how many miles could you travel? theres no real reasoning behind this i was just wondering haha. I am thinking of starting my AFF this summer with my buddy. We are both stoked on it and have been raising money for awhile. I saw skydiving and went onto these forums saw some videos and heard about some of his military jumps and got hooked. I think i want to start this summer, but now i'm afraid i am only starting because i need an escape. I usually play competitive sports, but i have taken a semester off from sports and have went through a few hard things this year and usually i can remain upbeat through sports. So my question is, since the $$ side of this sport, would it be something to start because it might just be an escape? i know "escaping" isn't a great way to deal with things, but it helps . Wondering everyones imput. Thanks. also, sorry if this message doesn't make sense. . its late ha. "Good rule of thumb; is what you are doing the EASIEST for You? I didn't see them either, but I found them on other sites when i searched. I think they are on the DZ's sites. "Good rule of thumb; is what you are doing the EASIEST for You? Because if it is, it ain't going to work for the people around you."

Does anyone know of some summer boogies that go down in california? "Good rule of thumb; is what you are doing the EASIEST for You? Because if it is, it ain't going to work for the people around you."

Yeah sounds great, I will definitely start going to Taft. I am getting my AFF over the summer and then I will work on my license down here. Thanks "Good rule of thumb; is what you are doing the EASIEST for You? Because if it is, it ain't going to work for the people around you."
-
Yup! probably going to take that this summer. thanks for contacting me ed "Good rule of thumb; is what you are doing the EASIEST for You? Because if it is, it ain't going to work for the people around you."

Thats sounds pretty sweet. 10 free jumps will help towards a license so thats always good. I'm tryin to sell a bunch of stuff on ebay and i'll be working 3 jobs this summer. I am going to school so hopefully i'll have enough to start AFF at least! ha i am amped to watch the videos and be on this forum, but i get down when i think about the $$ aspect. "Good rule of thumb; is what you are doing the EASIEST for You? Because if it is, it ain't going to work for the people around you."

Yeah. It seems that Hollister has a lot going for it. Big landing area, good instructors and good debreif. but why is it $250 more than Taft or Lompoc for AFF? Seems a little expensive. You could burn everything.. which could take forever depending on how many songs you have. If you know someone with an external hard drive that would be ideal. (or you could buy one). You transfer everything at once to the hard drive then transfer it to your new computer. Hit add file to library and get everything at once.
